I used to religiously write two blogs a week, that is how I got to over 700 blogs and 4,000,000 words on possibility and being read in 160 of the 194 countries across the planet.
Let’s go back to January 3, 2022. Why is that date significant? That is when I wrote my last blog. I had a crazy thought that nobody was reading my words even though empirical evidence showed this to be untrue.
I have sat in front of my keyboard many times and nada.
I have just completed my dear friend Clare Elizabeth Dea’s Love and Money course. One result out of it I did not expect was to get my words back, but I frigging did.
I like celebrations so I will write my first official blog on January 3, 2023.
Until then here is a quote and a song to get back in practice..
Imagination belongs to hope. It’s the creative dance of possibility
We have arrived at that time of the year, The First of the First, and we play the New Year Resolution game. I changed it several years ago to the Passion game. I ask myself this group of questions:
What will you never give up on?
What activities make you lose track of time?
What fascinates you?
What’s something you would do every day if you could?
At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back?
What is something you would hate to go without for a day?
Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?
What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?
How do you describe passion? 1. A strong feeling or emotion: He spoke with passion. 2. an object of someone’s love, liking, or desire: Art is my passion. 3. strong liking or desire: love. She has a passion for music.
Passion is actually derived from an Ancient Greek word: πάσχω “to suffer, to be acted on so there have been many a quote on the subject, here are a few over time:
15. The CEO of Linkedin India closes our session with a profound station on passion.
Inside our passion, we must Think Deeply, Speak Gently, Love Lots, Laugh Often, Work Hard, Give Back, Expect Less, Be Present, Be Kind, Be Honest and Be True to Ourselves. Remember we hold the passion, the others are just our aides.
Today’s playlist is passionate and from the heart: We begin with Sade followed by Lady Gaga. Next is Anda Day, then Demi Lovato. Hailee Steinfeld is the song before the penultimate number by Mumford and Sons and we complete with Rachel Platten; enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrsRhCOQtEKTUMGpA53C4NID
I am passionate about Interculturalism, I have created an ethos for it: Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. I have two Facebook groups to spread the ethos around the world: https://www.facebook.com/groups/183421768519278: Interculturalism and https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949: Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to humanity. You can join on the links, Until next time we meet, my dear friends.
Have you ever received awful advice from your supposed friends as you excitedly tell them about your latest adventure? They think they are trying to protect you from the possibility of failure, which, in effect, also shied you from the possibility of making your dream a reality.
Here are a few ill-advised tips (lies) people will likely tell you when you decide to pursue your dreams, and why they are dreadfully mistaken.
You can follow your dreams someday, but right now you need to buckle down and be responsible.
You are totally screwed if it doesn’t work out.
It’s safer to stay at your day job.
That’s impossible.
Only a lucky few “make it”.
You might fail and failing is bad.
You will sacrifice too much for too little.
You need more money saved before you take the first step.
You don’t need any help. It’s smarter to go after it alone.
That sounds like a lot of hard work.
All supposed good advice but in the end white lies. Only you can take the steps that fulfil your dreams. And what has society said about the cost of a lie over time. Here are a few of my favourite quotes:
1. Lord Byron, one of the best-known poets had an unusual death for a creative. He died fighting in the Greek War of Independence.
15. Because a lie must be remembered for ever so you can tell it again.
So in writing this blog I have come to the decision that the only option is to gather a tribe of truthtellers around you and deal with the consequences of this. Hopefully you have done this in some form or another.
Today’s playlist is modern in nature beginning with two Pop Diva’s Adele and Pink. Sam Smith breaks up the women with Elizabeth Young and Billie Ellish following. The penultimate track is Justin Timberlake and we finish with The Black Eyed Peas, Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrsBV-7gSv-r5uyd0oJ2eKSZ
Living in the world of no lies is not easy as is creating a world wide ethos of Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. That’s why I have created two Facebook groups: Interculturalism: https://www.facebook.com/groups/183421768519278 and Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to humanity: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. If you are reading this I would love you to join one or both to help spread it around the world.
I have a handmade poster on the wall in my lounge room created by one of Melbourne’s most famous sculptors for a fundraiser held at Werner Erhard and Associates aka Landmark Education but you would not know the old name unless you were a veteran of the work. It has a title: Life is a mystery to be lived, Not a problem to be solved. I mistyped it as loved when I wrote the title of this blog and seeing there are no mistakes, or so they say it remains as that. Deborah was like that, she loved life and created the most quirky statues in our beloved city of Melbourne back in the 1980’s.
So what do you consider mysteries in your life, some fairly famous people made comment on it. Here are their contributions:
1. Well known author Dean Koontz whose novels are billed as suspense thrillers, but frequently incorporate elements of horror, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and satireclaims our minds as hallways of mystery.
15. And we finish with a quote from the 18th century Russian novelist, philosopher, short story writer, essayist, and journalist, go out there and attain it.
This isn’t a perfect world. We’re probably on our one thousandth second chance right now and we are not ashamed to admit it. Because even though we have failed a lot, it means we have tried a lot too.
The only difference between an opportunity and an obstacle is attitude. Getting a second chance in life is about giving yourself the opportunity, the mystery to grow beyond your past failures. Here’s how:
Let go of the past.
Identify the lesson.
Lose the negative attitude.
Accept accountability for your current situation.
Focus on the things you can change.
Figure out what you really want.
Eliminate the nonessential.
Be specific.
Concentrate on doing instead of not doing.
Create a daily routine.
Maintain self-control and work on it for real.
Forget about impressing people.
Today’s playlist contains some famous artists as well, as well as one lengthy spoken word piece. We begin with Eminem, then my two unknowns, MKTO and Mike Perry. Then back to the seventies with David Bowie and George Harrison. The penultimate number is U2 and we complete with spoken words from Anias Nin: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYru-oyktakkeRTeHfW7mji_j
My major mystery in life is to work out what it would take to have the world ethos be Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. To spread this I have two Facebook groups, Interculturalism: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Interulturalism and Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to humanity: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. Any of you are welcome to join as you come from around the planet. Until we meet again, my dear friends.
I’ve gone back to getting my subjects for my blogs off my kitchen wall. The title for this one comes from my We build Tribes chart. The purpose is to build a purpose-driven community, I actually have two: They are Interculturalism: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Interulturalism and Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to Humankind: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. Both have the ethos of Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included at their core.
Each community has the following behind it:
10,000 people woke up this morning shedding private tears because they need a solution to their problem. You have that solution, go find them.
No other individual was placed upon this earth to do what you were uniquely born to do. Be you and the world will transform.
We live in an abundant world, allow that abundance to flow through you and you will never be without it.
Build a tribe that changes the very fabric of society, That is what you were born to do.
Whatever your goal, dream or desire is, It’s yours for the taking. Never accept you can’t.
Be consumed with a vision for tomorrow, go there in your own life and people will follow.
In a world of increasing isolation, be the campfire that attracts friends, laughter and authentic moments of transformation.
No-one ever got lucky, true success flows from consistency and persistency. Never, ever give up.
It’s going to be hard, It’s going to be tough. Remember, when you quit, No one wins.
Be their leader, be their servant, be their guide. But whatever you do. Make sure you “be”.
Don’t ever love others to the detriment of loving yourself. There is no one more important than you.
Rest, love, allow yourself to be loved. For as much as you feel the world rests on your shoulders, it doesn’t.
Support one another, cherish one another, inspire one another. We can make an even greater impact when we do so together.
Give someone a smile, give them money, give them a moment – when you have the capacity to do so… give.
With money comes influence, impact and opportunity – freedom comes when we cease fearing the pursuit of money & we embrace it.
So what has society said about communities – lets walk down that path:
I have had faith in intentional communities to transform out planet, it will take something but to me has always been possible.
Today’s playlist is truly eclectic. We begin with Martin Luther King’s most famous speech. Then one of my favourite pop divas, Taylor Swift. An Aussie legend follows, Lee Morgan. Then another of my favourite spoken word giants, Maya Angelou. Back to the 60s or 70s with Bread. Ava Max is the penultimate track, then we finish my favourite dance crew, The Desert Dwellers: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrsTT_-LiPDrKqshrgpwBoPh
So I will complete with my ethos one more time: Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included. Until we meet afain my dear friends.
Does the statement that is the title of this blog frighten you. In scientific truth in regards to age it is until we pass, but does it feel like that in other areas of our life. They say we develop our characteristics by the age of five, Earlier temperament seems to affect later life experience. For example, one 1995 study published in the journal Child Development followed children from the age of 3 until the age of 18. The researchers found, for instance, that children who were shyer and more withdrawn tended to grow into unhappier teenagers.
In those first few years everything is new and vital, and then the harsh truths of life start to kick in. What do we learn in this new sector of our life:
Life is not Easy.
You will fail sometimes.
Right now, there’s a lot you don’t know.
There may not be a tomorrow.
There’s a lot you can’t control.
Information is not true knowledge.
You can’t be successful without providing value.
Someone else will always have more than you.
You can’t change the past.
The only person who can make you happy is you.
There will always be people who don’t like you.
You don’t always get what you want.
In life you get what you put in.
Some friends will come and go.
Doing the same exact thing every day hinders self-growth.
You will never feel 100 percent ready for something new.
So what has society said about this period over time, lets have a look:
1. Interesting comment from a man who has been involved with baseball his whole life.
3. A man who made billions speaking to people’s inner child’s.
4. Lev Grossman (born June 26, 1969) is an American novelist and journalist who wrote The Magicians Trilogy: The Magicians(2009), The Magician King (2011),and The Magician’s Land (2014).A strange statement from someone who writes about magic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPE9a_epmWw
5. One day seems like a minute and sometimes like a week on this journey.
11. He is best known for his works of fiction, especially The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Space Trilogy, and for his non-fiction Christian apologetics, such as Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain. Lewis and fellow novelist J. R. R. Tolkien were close friends. Two of the great fantasy writers of their time.
15. Sir Peter Brian Medawar was a British biologist and writer, He is remembered for his wit both in person and in popular writings. Famous zoologists such as Richard Dawkins referred to him as “the wittiest of all scientific writers”, and Stephen Jay Gould as “the cleverest man I have ever known”.
I’m getting to the point of knowing all that I may know but playing my great uncle role on Sunday with my great niece Tawara who is all of six months old I must admit it takes you back to that period in your life when it’s all about Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included, It’s so beautiful watching her natural joy.
The playlist today is young, old and smarmy , we begin with Pink then fly back to the sixties with Steppenwolf. The first of two rock groups is next with Maroon 5. Back to the 70’s with Dione Warwick and Friends, we stays there with Peter Pan and Friends. The penultimate number is Eve 6 and we complete with Shaina Noll, which some people may find a bit smarmy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrsSwgrDaJJ_VQtjpbCMe57v
Thank you for waiting a few weeks for this blog, until we meet again my dear friends.
I have started watching Al Jazeera News broadcasts because I was sick of the mindless photo opportunities our Prime Minister down here in Australia, nicknamed as Scotty from marketing uses main stream media in our country for. Today I say an item where the Italian ambassador for the Republic of Congo had been ambushed and killed on a country road and it made me think would these people have done that if they knew why the ambassador was in their country, fundamentally to provide aid in the name of doing good deeds between the two countries.
Then I thought about as to why had I named my blog I am an Interculturalist all those years ago. The definition of Interculturalism goes as follows: Interculturalism refers to support for cross-cultural dialogue and challenging self-segregation tendencies within cultures. … It is based on the recognition of both differences and similarities between cultures. It has addressed the risk of the creation of absolute relativism within post modernity and in multiculturalism. Cross-cultural dialogue is what drew me to the Darebin Intercultural Centre after attending a Colombian film night at which there were about twenty cultures hanging out and being friends, all I can say is that I was hooked from that night.
So what does society say is the value of living an intercultural life, Let’s have a look:
1. Terminal Uniqueness sounds like it would get in the way a lot.
2. Ruth Benedict was a interculturalist of the early 19th Century, She studied the relationships between personality, art, language and culture, insisting that no trait existed in isolation or self-sufficiency, a theory which she championed in her 1934 book Patterns of Culture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkgkThdzX-8
15. And we finish with some fine words from Maya Angelou.
Life is full of positive experiences. Notice them. Life your life to the fullest potential by reveling in the beauty of these experiences, and letting them inspire you to be the most positive version of you. Living a positive life is all about creating positive habits to help you focus on what truly matters. Interculturalism is this for me. Here are some simple ideas to help you life this life:
Wake up every morning with the idea that something wonderful is possible today.
Celebrate your existence.
Appreciate life’s perfect moments.
Embrace life’s challenges.
Become addicted to constant and never-ending self-improvement.
Live and breathe the truth.
Fill your own bucket.
Help the people around you smile.
Spend time with positive people.
I have included two of Australia’s musical secrets in the playlist today: We commence with John Lennon, then follow with one of Australia’s best, Murray Kyle. Back to the last century for Dionne Warwick and Friends, Culture Club and Bob Marley. The penultimate track is a band I spent a lot of time watching in my youth in Melbourne – I’m Talking and we finish with Womack and Womack with that song: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrtVIdAvmWWOGAUdwvsPovnM
So I have created a Facebook group called Interculturalism which has the ethos of Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included, Here is the link to join it and share your examples of it: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Interulturalism Until we meet again my dear friends.
Well, we are nearly there, the end of 2020, some say the worst year we,as a species have gone through. For me, it meant a visit to the Melbourne Clinic, a beautiful relationship with Amy, a period of time alone, English tutoring weekly, then when COVID went away in our state of Victoria, Australia the opportunity to dance again, one of my favourite things to do.
So, as always, things ended. Some I wanted too , and others I didn’t. I was a prat and I learnt some good things. Looking up the meaning of prat I confess I did not know of the second:
an incompetent or stupid person; an idiot.
a person’s buttocks.
I was referring to the former in my use of the word, some may say I behaved in the manner of the second at times.
So what has society said about things ending over the centuries, let’s have a look:
1. Conrad Potter Aiken was an American writer and poet, honored with a Pulitzer Prize, a National Book Award, and was U.S. Poet Laureate from 1950 to 1952.I like his comment on aging.
7. Laura Beatrice Marling (born 1 February 1990) is a British folk singer-songwriter. She won the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist at the 2011 Brit Awards and was nominated for the same award at the 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 Brit Awards.Great insight, Laura.
Nobody gets through life with out losing someone they love, someone they need, or something they thought was meant to be. But it is these losses that make us stronger and eventually move us towards future opportunities for growth and happiness. Over the past 6 and a half decades, I’ve had my share of painful losses. When my time of mourning was over in each circumstance, I pressed forward, stronger and with a greater under standing and respect for life. Here are a few lessons I learnt on the way:
You are not what happened to you in the past.
Focus on what you have, not on what you don’t.
Struggling with problems is a natural way of growth.
It’s OK to fall apart for a little while.
Life is fragile, sudden, and shorter than it often seems.
Emotionally separate from your problems.
Don’t make a problem bigger than it is.
View each challenge as an educational assignment.
Things change, but the sun always rises the next day.
Giving up and moving on are two different things.
Perfect relationships don’t exist.
You must love yourself too.
Don’t let others make decisions for you.
Resentment hurts you, not them.
Consciously nurture your inner hope.
It is better to be hurt by a truth than comforted by a lie.
Not getting what you want can be a blessing.
Laughter is the best medicine for stress.
Worrying is literally a waste of energy.
Even when it’s hard to move, take a small step forward.
You are better off without some people you thought you needed.
You are only competing against yourself.
Life is not Easy.
Your future is unwritten.
You are not trapped, you just need to relearn a few things.
Everything in life is two-sided.
You always have a choice.
Let other’s on when you are in a dark place.
If you ask negative questions, you will get negative answers.
The end is a new beginning.
Today’s play list visit the seventies quite a bit, no Spotify playlists unfortunately, but one long live version of the classic ending song. We begin with Sir Paul McCartney, then move on to the Doors and finish the 70s with Eric Clapton. Two great Australian talents for our overseas listeners in Marie Hoy and Murray Kyle. We complete with two of my faves Eminem and Rhianna as the penultimate number finishing with Maroon 5. enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrtMgN6Th9fo7YNZ-6cq7kPA
Would there be less ending if we lived from my world ethic, Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. I think so, I have even created a Facebook group for 1,000,000 people to sign on board: It is called Thriving People – People who wish ot make a difference to Humanity. Here is the link if you would like to be one of them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949 . Until we meet again my dear friends.
I’m reading s great book called The Big Little Book of Resilience by Matthew Johnstone at the moment. Matthew wrote and illustrated it. It is subtitled How to Bounce back from adversity and lead a fulfilling Life. Each page has a little bit of wisdom with a supportive image.
Accepting what we can and cannot change is one of the most important aspects of understanding resilience. it’s learning to work with and grow what’s right in our lives while accepting, but not putting all our energy into , what’s not.
So bringing sincerity into our lives allows us to see what are our rights and what will empower us. Lets have a look at what people have said about rights over the years:
1. Standing up for your rights means that you do not have to offend or please others all the time, It gives you time to consider them.
2. This brave young woman has raised the voices of half the world’s population: Roar.
3. You have the right to…. it’s up to you, whatever you listen to in your mind takes hold.
4. I have difficulty with one of these, guess which one: Same Love.
5. Our voices are given to us for a reason, It’s you time to use it.
6. I say this to you all, you can do it, you rock: I will Survive.
7. As a race, we have a fair way to go with this one.
8. This year, I became a tutor to three Chinese mothers. Before I did this I didn’t realize who little I know about other cultures on the planet and how much my group of friends is from the one culture: Where is The Love.
9. Mainstream media, Whilst in the hospital with my mum I unfortunately had to view it. The word puerile and the meaning of this question come to mind.
10. As it say above, be a voice. This period of time in raising your your children cannot be taken back without some serious therapy bills if you stuff it up: Teach Your Children Well.
11. How do millions of people turn into killers during the time of war. Often they were neighbors who had lived next to each other peacefully for years and years. The above sentence speaks very loudly.
12. The federal government in my home country, Australia seem to have forgotten this, they are about to implement a national Grade 1 grammar test: Better Place.
13. This haunting image could not let me not include it.
14. I spent many months contemplating this during my dark times. It was not Erin but Ruth and Jann and Hugo who said this to me, not in such dramatic style, but I heard it: Stay.
15. Perhaps best known for the remark in a letter to an Anglican bishop, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men. Donald Trump, or Nelson Mandela who will be remembered in the year 3030?
So I am imploring you to realize that you have rights and you have a voice. It’s our time, Its up to Us, Because we Can.
