Don’t listen to GOOP!!!

I have had an interesting year, Met a billionaire and multi millionaire. Dropped 20K I could not really afford, and been locked up as an involuntary patient in a mental health unit as consequences of the first two things for four weeks, Once in, it is not so easy to get out.

I , through these mistakes, learnt a lot, including the acronym GOOP, the Good Opinion of Other People and the deadly effect it has on you achieving your dreams. I thank Peter Sage, the creator of this distinction for altering how life occurs for me now.

I also am enquiring into two other distinctions,Your opinion is not the truth, Ever and Listen, you do not learn when you are speaking.. The opinion one was described to me in the following manner: Opinion lives on one side of the Universe and truth the other. our task, this time in , is to align them as closely as possible. Unfortunately most humans give up at a very early age on this quest, this is when cinversation dies. His Holiness I credit the third one to, one of my favourite wise men. Do you think he was on a camel that night in Bethlehem?

Time for a Marc and Angel list, this time it is called 20 ways to create million dollar ideas, here we go

  5. Make sure there is money in your market
  6. Keep your eyes, ears and mind wide open
  7. Test variations of the same idea.
  8. Figure out what works well in one market and tailor it for another.
  9. Put the pieces together
  10. Spin a new twist on a previous breakthrough
  11. Systematise a popular service into a reproducale product.
  12. Play with Opposites.
  13. Look for problems and solve them.
  14. Design other products that supportother successful products.
  15. Keep it simple.
  16. Use the tools and skills you already have.
  17. Surround yourself with other thinkers.
  18. Be enthusiastic about what you are doing.
  19. Accept constructive criticism, but ignore naysayers
  20. Actually do something with your ideas.

Do you do this, I’m not great at it, i am a “nice person”

The famous the five we spend time with covered here.

Has COVID mandated Dislike of people who used to be friends.

I am not an anti vaccer, this is because as a young child to be kept alive I received quite a lot of vaccines and accepted that you had to take things that you may not like but were in the end good for you. Another term I heard recently regarding this area was Pro-choice which I thought related to the abortion movement, or it did in the seventies.

I have seen people posting via social media utter nonsense, that horse medicine is better than vaccines, that COVID is an international plot and the purpose of the vaccine is to put a microchip in you. If someone started a conversation about these subjects I would have to request that they stop as I am far too logical to listen to it.

What upsets me is that in these hard times I have heard of cases where people have written off friendships because we agree to disagree. Nobody gets through life without losing someone they love, someone they need, or something they thought was meant to be. Here are some lessons we have learnt over these painful times:

  1. You are not what happened to you in the past.
  2. Focus on what you have, not on what you don’t.
  3. Struggling with problems is a natural way of growing.
  4. It’s OK to fall apart for a little while.
  5. Life is fragile, sudden, and shorter than it often seems.
  6. Emotionally separate yourself from your problems.
  7. Don’t make a problem bigger than it is.
  8. View every challenge as an educational assignment.
  9. Things change, but the sun always rises the next day.
  10. Giving up and moving on are two different things.
  11. Perfect relationships don’t exist.
  12. You must love yourself too.
  13. Don’t let others make decisions for you.
  14. Resentment hurts them, not you.
  15. Consciously nurture your inner hope.
  16. It’s better to be hurt by the truth than comforted by a lie.
  17. Not getting what you want can be a blessing.
  18. Laughter is the best medicine for stress.
  19. Worrying is literally a waste of energy.
  20. Even when it’s hard to move, take small steps forward.
  21. You are better off without some people you thought you needed.
  22. You are only competing against yourself.
  23. Life is not easy.
  24. Your future is unwritten.
  25. You are not trapped, you just need to relearn a few things.
  26. Everything in life is two-sided.
  27. You always have a choice.
  28. Let others in when you are in a dark place.
  29. If you ask negative questions , you will get negative answers.
  30. The end is a new beginning.

This is not the first time that disagreements like this have happened over time, I’m sure there are quotes over the decades that discussed this dilemma, lets have a look:

1. I is not worth going over the limit if you know their opinion is different to yours.

The Third POTUS, Thomas may be where the saying don’t talk about religion or politics came from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0r1AJMK79g

3. Mahatma used this principle to free a country.

4. We take it that friendly disagreement is progressing our friendships: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpqV3dzYOgk

5. Remember those school debates, you had to debate what you didn’t agree with at times.

6. Talking about the dreaded workplace disagreements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x34icYC8zA0

7. One of my favourite actors with a very wise statement.

8. Repeat after me……..: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiVb8xizRXU

9. This one’s a smack in the face.

10. The stability get checked at the eye of the storm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5vHWJhVvI4

11. Eugenia is an inspirational writer and poet. I believe this quote relates to her second book of poetry “Take a step right now towards your dreams“.

12. This is what I hope happens as COVID disappears into the distance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Py8OWAMkns

13. This profound piece of wisdom comes from an English cricketer if you believe Wikipedia.

14.There is a word for someone who is never wrong – Its a narcissist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3wKzyIN1yk

15.And for our final lesson, we look at the action versus the practice.

So from writing this, I have come to the solution that we can disagree to disagree but we do not need to give up our friendships.

Today’s playlist has two of my favourite songs on it, I will let you guess which one’s. We begin with 2 pop legends:John Legend and Shakira. Three lesser known groups and artists follow: Erasure, Prince Mpfarutsa and Bliss and Eso. The penultimate track is Carrie Underwood and we finish with Rag and Bone Man: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrt9dG5wUc1bJ9E1_DkZkEow

COVID has tested my ethos of Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included, but I have set up two Facebook groups to help with the spread of it: Interculturalism – https://www.facebook.com/groups/183421768519278 and Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to Humanity: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. Whereever you are in the world reading this, I invite you to join our merry bands of travelers.

Until we net again, my dear friends.

Give someone a Smile!!

I’ve gone back to getting my subjects for my blogs off my kitchen wall. The title for this one comes from my We build Tribes chart. The purpose is to build a purpose-driven community, I actually have two: They are Interculturalism: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Interulturalism and Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to Humankind: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. Both have the ethos of Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included at their core.

Each community has the following behind it:

  1. 10,000 people woke up this morning shedding private tears because they need a solution to their problem. You have that solution, go find them.
  2. No other individual was placed upon this earth to do what you were uniquely born to do. Be you and the world will transform.
  3. We live in an abundant world, allow that abundance to flow through you and you will never be without it.
  4. Build a tribe that changes the very fabric of society, That is what you were born to do.
  5. Whatever your goal, dream or desire is, It’s yours for the taking. Never accept you can’t.
  6. Be consumed with a vision for tomorrow, go there in your own life and people will follow.
  7. In a world of increasing isolation, be the campfire that attracts friends, laughter and authentic moments of transformation.
  8. No-one ever got lucky, true success flows from consistency and persistency. Never, ever give up.
  9. It’s going to be hard, It’s going to be tough. Remember, when you quit, No one wins.
  10. Be their leader, be their servant, be their guide. But whatever you do. Make sure you “be”.
  11. Don’t ever love others to the detriment of loving yourself. There is no one more important than you.
  12. Rest, love, allow yourself to be loved. For as much as you feel the world rests on your shoulders, it doesn’t.
  13. Support one another, cherish one another, inspire one another. We can make an even greater impact when we do so together.
  14. Give someone a smile, give them money, give them a moment – when you have the capacity to do so… give.
  15. With money comes influence, impact and opportunity – freedom comes when we cease fearing the pursuit of money & we embrace it.

So what has society said about communities – lets walk down that path:

1. Read that word, everyone, all 7 billion of us.

2. And her partner was Martin Luther King Junior, hear him speak: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixfwGLxRJU8

3. Do you know what your community cares about?

4. Author of the Courage to Create, this quote speaks profoundly of the power of communication: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN6VR92V70M

5. We all know a community needs more than one colour.

6. Another religious guru facing abuse allegations. Bill Hybels has a lot to reconcile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-6zYv9hCow

7. From little things , big things grow.

8. My purpose to make my communities safe places: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHvTWvKIPHo

9. How many friendships I have made simply asking would you like to go for a coffee?

10. Give someone a smile, give them money, give them a moment – when you have the capacity to do so… give: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8QV6ffjIYU

11. Ubuntu is a Nguni Bantu term meaning “humanity”. It is sometimes translated as “I am because … Language.

12. Very profound, Marianne: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxGLPVvNjvY

13. Boom!!!

14. And my favourite dance crew are the Desert Dwellers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAuAcC6-5ds

15. This one touches my soul.

I have had faith in intentional communities to transform out planet, it will take something but to me has always been possible.

Today’s playlist is truly eclectic. We begin with Martin Luther King’s most famous speech. Then one of my favourite pop divas, Taylor Swift. An Aussie legend follows, Lee Morgan. Then another of my favourite spoken word giants, Maya Angelou. Back to the 60s or 70s with Bread. Ava Max is the penultimate track, then we finish my favourite dance crew, The Desert Dwellers: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrsTT_-LiPDrKqshrgpwBoPh

So I will complete with my ethos one more time: Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included. Until we meet afain my dear friends.

Have you ever been Crazy?

Psychiatric Units are not noble establishments, private or public. You lose all your rights when you enter both. Having been in both I vote for private over public, the public ones are heavily understaffed and all conditions are thrown in together, not a very practical healing space that leads to violence and sexual abuse on a daily or weekly basis.

I am a bad patient when I enter these institutions, all I want to do is lay on my bed and eat even though the meal times are ridiculously early. I don’t want to discuss my “problems” with the nurses or the mental health professionals or attend the numerous therapy information sessions to fill time in. I have been through this process five times spending a total of six months in different units.

Last time was during a COVID Lock down wave. I was there for 4 weeks and was told I would be released the following Friday. Filling in the release papers I felt I was lying about the questions was I ready to go home. I found out they were releasing patients they felt had made some progress as they did nor want them to become Institutionalized during lock down. Therefore I spent the next three weeks on my couch surviving on Uber Eats. Then, one day Uber Eats, the next day, miracle cure I was as I had been before the episode and no repercussions. My doctor said it was the meds kicking in and my therapists that my issues had died down.

So does the planet believe in miracle cures, lets look back over time:

1, By far the most popular miraculous quote, Louise Hay made a fortune late in her life on this subject.

2. And it may only be that far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clJb4zx0o1o

3. Is that what happened the morning it all went away?

4. And yes, it was totally unexpected. I was expectant to be ordering Uber Eats that day as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnVUHWCynig

5. A warrior general philosopher – amazing!!

6. I think they travel together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3wKzyIN1yk

7. A bit of ancient miracle wisdom from Sophocles.

8. And thousands of people make their living from this belief: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6drfp_3823I

9. Health and Love – for me they seem to go together.

10. With curiosity in your life comes inner and outer health not boredom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqRn3qM7zBU

11. This is one of my healing centres.

12. Perhaps my superpower returned, mine is words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Cs3Pvmmv0E

13. I can wholeheartedly agree with that.

14. In a recent talk at Ted x San Francisco, Mel Robbins, a riotously funny self-help author, mentioned that scientists estimate the probability of your being born at about one in 400 trillion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egMWlD3fLJ8

15. And for our final lesson – Self-Love.

One of the main things I have learnt over my mental health adventures. is that happiness is not something to postpone for the future, it is something you design into the present, starting from today. Here’s a few things you can try on:

  1. Appreciate what you have.
  2. Focus on things that truly matter.
  3. Define your own meaning of life, and pursue it.
  4. Embrace Life’s Challenges.
  5. Find the balance that allows you to be truly who you are.
  6. Love your body enough to take care of it.
  7. Limit your time with negative people.
  8. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  9. Set a good example.
  10. Accept what is, and live for the possibilities that lie ahead.

I put a couple of my favourite songs in the playlist, see if you can guess which one’s they are. CCR starts from way back, Beyonce with her golden voice is next. Rag’N”Bone man , one of my favourite discoveries is next followed by a group I had forgotten about, London Grammar. My unknown group for today is 4 Strings. We end with two classics from George Michael and Steppenwolf, enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrtg06WUA4QUXd6fJRee3zt5

When I go into these mental health free-falls is is the people who show me Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included that have helped me get through. Recently one of them died at quite a young age unexpectedly. I write this for you, Michael Arnould, until we meet again on some other plain, my dear friend.

You, Will, Find It Is Necessary To Let Go!!!

You find that some days you have to do things that mean you have to let go of your intentions and do things that don’t fit on your to-do list. How many times do you do this, I had to do one this morning, I was meant to teach English but I had a severe cold so not wanting to make my students suffer a cold as well, I called them and cancelled the classes. I really enjoy teaching Bing and Julie but realised that infecting a father and a mother was not something I should do.

I’m going to send them emails with classes they can do during the week. So how do we do things that are not fitting in our daily necessities? How has society learnt to let go of the things that don’t fit in the necessary to-do lists?

accept1

1. Crying is one thing that doesn’t come up a lot, but as Jennifer says its one of the best things you can do.

accept2

2. It’s the impossible dream: The Impossible Dream.

accept3

3. Letting go of you, that is who you are forgiving.

accept4

4. Letting go of things that are no longer good for you: Let It Go.

accept5

5. The past is where they belong, your problems that is!!

accept6

6. Have you found yourself recently?: Love Myself.

accept7

7. Do you question why it didn’t work out, Winna suggests you do.

accept8

8. It Is Us, Not hummus, So Right: This Is Me.

accept9

9. Not everybody can unfurl their fingers.

accept10

10. Buddha was a wise, wise man: Just The Way You Are.

accept11

11. I just liked this photo.

accept12

12. As an empath, you get to hold all the emotions: Emotions.

accept13

13. Remembering that word, Fear!!

accept14

14. I met my inner child last week, twice: Sweet Dreams

accept15

15. There are times I cannot let the memories go.

So letting go covered many different ways of relating to it. Today’s playlist goes back to the 1970s with the King, Elvis. Then we move onto the musical, Frozen. We visit a pop diva, Hailee Steinfeld next. More musical tunes from the Greatest Showman cast. Bruno Mars follows. The penultimate number is the famous Mariah Carey and we finish with the Eurythmics: You Will Find It Necessary To Let It Go.

So we read my ethos as our final lesson for the day: Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. That’s what I hold as the final statement for the day. Until we meet again, my dear friends.

May the Animals be Blessed.

puppies Today I remember the animals of the world, our cohabitants of this precious planet. I recognise their vulnerability, as well as the harm we sometimes do to them. May careless, even cruel behaviour towards animals be forever removed from the earth. May my heart be open to ways I can be of service to them. May the relationship between humans and animals be lifted to its highest place. Dear Gaia, Please bless the animals. Protect Them From the actions of those with cold hearts. May we be proper stewards Of these precious creations in our midst. Amen. I love this prayer by Marianne Williamson to the other inhabitants of our planet although I changed one word, I cannot bring myself to use the word God, it is far to damaged in my estimation to be used to represent the spirit that is mightier than the human race, I much prefer Gaia, the spirit of the planet that does not relate to any power seeking religion. I spent last weekend volunteering at World Vegan Day in Melbourne Australia, my friends call me the worlds greatest volunteer. I was highly impressed by the  number of young  people who have journeyed down the path to Veganism. What is Veganism, Wikipedia defines it as follows

  1. Veganism /ˈviːɡənɪzəm/ is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, as well as following an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of sentient animals. A follower of veganism is known as a vegan.
    vegan
I used a picture of Beagles to begin this blog as there is a group in Victoria that specifically operates to rescue them from abandonment or cruelty http://www.beaglerescuevic.org/aboutus.html, and they are damn cute.
There were many other organisations that defended the rights of animals around the world and I was drawn to the Tiger Protection booth and was amazed to find out that there are only 3,200 tigers in the wild, as articles say it is ironical it is the Chinese Year of the tiger when mankind is rapidly removing this noble creature from the planet. The link to this article does not hold out much hope for them in 12 years when the next Year of the Tiger rolls around. http://www.treehugger.com/natural-sciences/all-worlds-tigers-extinct-in-15-20-years-without-better-conservation-efforts.html.
I chose to become Vegan due to the fact I did not want the energy of a living creature in my body not due to animal cruelty but the talk I heard by Philip Wollen pointed to why we need to give up eating meat and fish, we are literally killing the planet for the sake of our daily steak. Philip is a philanthropist who used to be head of Citibank in Australia and who had a turn around in his life and now funds project worldwide to prevent animal  cruelty and extinction. He has the ability to speak to people who can make a difference in a huge way. here is a link to a blog with one of his speeches http://livelearnloveeat.com/2012/12/16/philip-wollen-animals-should-be-off-the-menu/. He also funds Kindness House in Victoria where he allows groups dedicated to animals such as Vegetarian Victoria space for minimal rent so they can do their work to defend our fellow creatures.

It takes 25 times as much energy to produce one kilogram of beef as it does a kilogram of vegetables. If the developing nations keep changing their dietary habits to be carnivores we will need two planets at least to produce the energy required, we don’t have two planets, we have a profoundly wounded one. The children born today will not have fish to eat in the year 2050 according to an influential report released by scientists in the U.K. recently, this is sad but not as sad as the effect this will have on the oceans as fish are the life blood of the oceans. A friend of mine who is a solo ocean crossing sailor said the things he noticed in two journeys ten years apart was the silence of the seas, no fish no birds, he was profoundly worried for the future of our oceans and was speaking from experience.
There are people worldwide who do not mistreat animals, heres a list of some of them http://list25.com/25-animal-saviors-who-will-restore-your-faith-in-humanity/  So are Vegans and vegetarians the saviours of the planet in the future, they are a growing number worldwide as the benefits of a meat free diets become apparent and it is recommended by more and more health professionals to battle the ever increasing battle with obesity and diabetes that has become an epidemic worldwide, here are some stats on vegetarians and vegans worldwide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism_by_country.
Namaste until next time my friends
