The Heart wants What It Wants!!!

Another thing I have got out of Awakening Connections is the ability to feel the love being directed at me. I was at Mojo – The Dance of Connection on Saturday night for my crewing role as chai maker extraordinaire, and it felt different. There were people, particularly women who have been coming for ages who kept hugging me and kissing me at the end of a dance, some I even kissed back. I have taken on a practice to allow this love in, reciting some mantras from my friends Marc and Angel Chernoff through a practice we call Dragonspeak in the Warriors of Love, my go-to 12-month training program to empower the lifeforce that runs through each of us: Some WOL info.

The mantras are as follows, they help me love people, not judge them or ignore them:

1. The most beautiful thing is to see a person nearby smiling. And even more beautiful is knowing you are the reason behind it.

2. If I have the power to make someone happier today, do it. The world needs more of that.

3. Some people build lots of walls in their lives and . not enough bridges. There’s no good reason to be one of them. Open me up. Take small chances on people.

4. Never stop doing little things for those around me. Sometimes these little things occupy the biggest parts of their hearts.

5. Too often I underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of love – all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

6. Be present, Be thoughtful. Compliment people. Magnify their strengths, not their weaknesses. This is how to make a real and lasting difference in my relationships, new and old.

7. I don’t always need to give advice. Sometimes all people need is a hand to hold, an ear to listen, and a heart to understand.

8. Today, just be 100 per cent present with those around me – be all there. That is enough.

9. There’s no such thing as “self-made”. Someone else believed in me. Someone also encouraged me. Someone else invested in me. Someone else prayed for you. Someone else spoke life over me. I will be that someone for others too.

10. It’s practically impossible to love my neighbours if I don’t know them, and yet that’s oftentimes the case. I live in such a hyper-connected world with such limited or nonexistent connection. Remember this: Relationships matter. Stories matter.

11. In human relationships, distance is not measured in kilometres but in affection. Two people can be right next to each other yet miles apart.

12. Stay in touch with those who truly matter to me – not because it’s inconvenient, but because they’re worth the extra effort.

13. The single greatest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place. Too often we don’t listen to understand, we listen to reply. Bring awareness to this. And listen for what’s truly behind the words.

14. Set an example. Treat everyone with respect, even those who are rude to you – not because they are always nice, but because I am ( And do my best to be thankful for the rude and difficult people too, they serve as great reminders of how not to be.)

15. Sometimes it is better to be kind than right.

16. People are much nicer when they are happier, which says a lot about those who aren’t very nice to you. Sad, but true.

17. The real test comes when I don’t get what I expect from people. Will I react in anger? Or will calmness be my superpower?

18. The way I trust people  I don’t understand is a report card on what I’ve learnt about love, compassion, and kindness.

19. Be kinder than necessary. What goes around comes around. No one has ever made themselves strong by showing how small someone else is.

20. The best relationships are not just about the good times I share, They are about the obstacles we got through together and the fact that I still say “I Love You” in the end.

So how does the world talk about love, here are a few of my favourite things:

lp1

1. A required part of the recipe of life.

lp2

2. Not always loved by her critics, great people always seem to have them, the people of the slums idolised her: Is This Love.

lp3.jpeg

3. Simply, Boom!!!

lp4

4. From the world’s best-known philosopher, Ms Unknown comes some worldly advice about the importance of self-love: Lose Yourself.

lp5

5. These are the people who showed up when your soul said to you, find the others.

lp6

6. One of the founders of the Black Panther movement who after exile returned to the States to become a conservative Republican and Christian, Eldridge travelled an extreme journey to discover love in his life: Blowing In The Wind.

lp7

7. Don’t look in your logical mind for love, it’s your like zone.

lp8

8. The area of life that blows away Simon Senik’s statement you have to know your why: To Love Somebody.

lp9

9. It’s in both your DNA’s.

lp10.jpeg

10. And she: Born To Be Yours.

lp11

11. Sage advice from the writer of many a great love song over her long career.

lp12.jpeg

12. Working on both these areas in my life: The Climb.

lp13

13. Remember to keep an eye out for this.

lp14

14. Yep to this: A Song For You.

lp15

15. For our final lesson, a short sermon on how to let love in.

So lets address loving those offensive people we find so hard to love. Marc has a trick: Mentally hug them and wish them better days. We can have compassion for this broken person because we all have been broken and in some pain at some point too. We’re the same in many ways. Sometimes we need a hug, some extra compassion, and a little unexpected love.

Our playlist today begins with Bob Marley, the king of Love in my humble opinion. The rapping out with Eminem. Some folk from Peter, Paul and Mary follows. From the same era comes The Bee Gees. We come forward to Kygo and the imagine Dragons and Miley Cyrus and complete with the soulful tones of Donny Hathaway: The Heart Wants What It Wants,

Letting love in and expressing it outwardly will certainly support my life’s ethos of Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included. Remember you can sign up to receive these blogs in your inbox on the right-hand side of my main page. Until we meet again, my dear friends.

Never Accept The Definition of Life From Others!!!

I am going through a 21-day process called Integrity and the Power of Habit via the Warriors of Love year-long training program I am in. Each week has a list of core principles, for week one they are as follows in the area of Integrity :

  1. Live from Embodies Essence.
  2. The Power of Declaration from Essence.
  3. Integrity – Do what you say you will do.
  4. With Integrity Comes Power.
  5. Write It Down – Put it in time.
  6. When Integrity falls out, we create distance.

For each of us, these principles will bring up different shadows where we could improve said integrity. I immediately noticed for me it was how I spend my mornings. I have watched ABC News Breakfast for at least an hour for the past five years. My friend Brian Johnson from Optimize, the best ten dollars you can spend on the internet: The link to Brian’s World. states that we are at our most refreshed first thing in the mornings . after we have rested our body.

So the TV is now turned off and I go for a half-hour walk wearing my absolutely fantastic Beats Bluetooth headphones listening to my morning meditation.

What do others say about the morning and how empowering it is when used to its full benefits, let’s have a look.

morn1

1. My Tibetan Buddhist school referred to him as Shakyamuni Buddha. This is about living in the present.

morn2.jpeg

2. One is not the loneliest number sometimes: One.

morn3

3. A bit out of integrity with the spelling but a great message.

morn4.jpeg

4. My life ethos is Love and Respect for all, Everyone Included so I cannot agree with this: One Love.

morn5

5. Celebrations, Challenges and Commitments are what we look at in the group.

morn6

6. Word Magic: Try.

morn7

7. And hopefully we all have one of these, and if we don’t, they are out there, you just have not found each other yet.

morn8

8. Refer to the Blog title…: Born This Way.

morn9

9. Is this a tautology, even if it’s not, it’s clever.

morn10

10. From the worlds most popular philosopher, Ms Unknown, the reason why early to bed, early to rise is such a great idea: Live It Up.

morn11

11. From the early and mid-1800s, Ralph speaks of the benefits the mornings offer.

morn12.jpeg

12. Life is a Blessing, a powerful mantra to live life by: Blessed We Are.

morn13

13. And is all across the planet.

morn14.jpeg

14. Cute cat photo of the blog: Moving On Up.

morn15.jpeg

15. And for our final lesson, there are 7 billion different ways to relate to these principles.

Today’s list from Marc and Angel Chernoff is entitled: 10 WAYS Successful people START Their Mornings:

  1. Get an Early Start.
  2. Clarify and Review Your Priorities.
  3. Prune any nonessential commitments for the day.
  4. Exercise.
  5. Eat a Healthy Breakfast.
  6. Kiss your partner good-bye.
  7. Practice 15 minutes of positive visualisation.
  8. Eat That Frog.
  9. Connect with the Right People.
  10. Stay Informed.

Today’s playlist educated me, I did not know that one of Australia’s musical icons went as far back as the sixties, but there you go. We begin with John Farnham and Bob Marley from the last century. Pink and Lady Gaga returns us to this one. Another Australian number one from Mental As Anything. Then a fantastic singalong from Peia, and we complete with some R and B from M People: Never Accept The Definition of Life From Others!!!

So here is to walking to my nearby lake in Rezza, aka Reservoir each morning. Showing myself Love and Respect For All, Everybody Included. Remember if you enjoy the subject matter of my blog, sign up on the right-hand side on the homepage. Until next time we meet, my dear friends.

Painting is just another way of keeping a Diary!!!

I . have just begun journalling again after a break of several years. I was in North Fitzroy Library yesterday when I saw the book: Creative Journal Writing – The art and heart of reflection on the shelves: Get it Here, Free Shipping… I could not resist even though I have three other books on the go at the moment. The following . review sums it up pretty well from my 3 hours reading:

Winner of the COVR Award for Book of the Year (2007) From the #1 creativity publisher in the country comes to our latest creativity bestseller–Creative Journal Writing–the ultimate book for those who are looking to use this powerful tool to heal, expand, and transform their lives. In this exceptionally positive and encouraging book, Stephanie Dowrick frees the journal writer she believes is in virtually everyone, showing through stories and examples that a genuine sense of possibility can be revived on every page. Creative journal writing goes way beyond just recording events on paper. It can be the companion that supports but doesn’t judge, a place of unparalleled discovery, and a creative playground where the everyday rules no longer count. Proven benefits of journal writing include reduced stress and anxiety, increased self-awareness, sharpened mental skills, genuine psychological insight, creative inspiration and motivation, strengthened ability to cope during difficult times, and overall physical and emotional well-being. Combining a rich choice of ideas with wonderful stories, quotes, and her refreshingly intimate thoughts gained through a lifetime of writing, Dowrick’s insights and confidence make journal writing irresistible? and your own life more enchanting. Included in Creative Journal Writing are stories of how people have used journal writing to transform their lives; – inspirational instructions, guidelines, and quotes;
– key principles, practical suggestions, and helpful hints;
– 125 starter topics, designed to help even the most reluctant journal writer;
– more than forty powerful exercises;
– and much more!

Starting to read it has made me think of the different ways I have journaled over the years. The most obscure was probably a period of time I attended Saturday afternoon art lessons in Brunswick for a year, the entry being a bottle of red as Miklos was a lover of the wee drop. I have used Julia Cameron’s methodology for several years: Morning Pages., attended Catherine Deveny’s superb Gunna’s Writing Workshops: This is what started my blog writing career. Another art experience was my dear friend Jac Price’s fantastic Creative Meditations Practice: Meditative Art. At the moment I am faithfully doing Danielle LaPorte’s Daily Planner, a short sharp precise journal of what you are committing to for the day, what you are grateful for, what isn’t working, what you should stop and a daily meditation are included, I also write a daily love meme and post it on my Facebook page: 5 years and counting, one of the original users.

So what do people say about journaling or what do they write that ends up as a quote, there are some beauties:

jor1

1. For some people they love quotes, I admit to this fetish.

jor2

2. We go back to the 17th century for this piece of sage wisdom from one of the founding fathers of the United States: A Song For You.

jor3

3. Or then you can journal new possibilities in your life.

jor4

4. Journal well, my friends: It Was a Good Day.

jor5

5. Journalling on these days will help you snap out of it quicker, remember, the shadow and the light both need some loving.

jor6

6. George was a Republican, he spoke in favour of African-American equality and civil rights. Something the current mob seem to have forgotten: It’s My Life.

jor7.jpeg

7. Did MLK keep a journal, they would be a great read.

jor8

8. Envision greatness, why not: The Greatest.

jor9

9. One of life’s great mysteries, creating your life with the written word.

jor10

10. A save your personal planet kind of space: Earth.

jor11

11. When putting the words on the page, don’t forget to water your soul.

jor12

12. And from one of the most famous of those who journal, why we do it.: You Only Live Twice.

jor13

13. Love this definition of writing.

jor14

14. I actually do a celebration, challenges, commitment practice: Life Is Worth Living.

jor15

15. And we finish with a lesson from the world’s most famous journal writer.

Stephanie makes some suggestions, lets finish with those:

  1. A routine for your journal writing supports what you are doing. It also keeps you on track. It isn’t essential to write every day, but writing most days does really make a difference.
  2. Sit somewhere to write that feels really good to you. Let go both physically and mentally before you begin to write.
  3. Whenever you feel flat or ‘stuck’, describe that state of mind in your journal. Be a scientific observer of your own condition. (‘I kept writing in circles, just commenting on that, then suddenly I took off against all my expectations…’)
  4. Go against the current tide that tells you ‘instant is best’ That’s only sometimes true in journal writing. Here you can be both tortoise and hare.
  5. ‘Forget what you wrote yesterday. Practise coming into this day, freshly. Bring to your journal writing your capacity to be present in the moment – even when you are writing about the past.
  6. Are your expectations high enough? Do you feel like trying something that you are at present? Taking greater risks with language or subject matter or point of view? Looking more attentively at what you might be avoiding?
  7. Concentrating mostly on ‘thoughts’? If so, look at the feelings associated with whatever topic you are writing about. If you have written a lot about your feelings, take some time to review your thoughts. Or to be a little more analytical and detached than usual. Or look at these feelings themselves somewhat dispassionately. What do you think about those feelings? How precise are they? Are they your familiar repertoire? Could you think about your feelings with great subtlety?
  8. Notice with interest where you might be limiting yourself. What are you telling yourself that you can’t afford to notice, feel or write about?
  9. Notice with interest what’s exciting you about the journal writing process. Let yourself be surprised.

We cover 50 years in today’s playlist. Beginning in the 1970s with Leon Russell and Friends, then forward a bit with Ice Cube. Then to last decade with No Doubt and finally to today with Sia and Little Dicky. The penultimate number returns to the 70s with Nancy Sinatra and then forward in time for the last number with Justin Bieber: Painting Is Just Another Way of Keeping a Diary!!!

The more I journal, the closer I get to achieving Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. Remember if you like reading my blogs to put your name on the email list on the dropbox on the right. Until we meet again my dear friends.

In Praise of the Women and Men of DE, Sensual sisters to the Core.

OK, I admit I am a DE sister in a male body, and I love the distinctions of this magnificent portal in life.

My friend and mentor Arion Light recently wrote an epic article praising it, Here is some of what he said:

For me, this is medicine our disconnected culture so desperately needs. A return to an honour of the beauty of the feminine. I feel, as do many of you I’m sure, our disconnection from our deep love within is at the heart of our insatiable need for stuff and distraction. When we truly see ‘her’ beauty all we can do is bow and give our lives to celebrate and serve her.
I really get it’s not the ‘only’ answer. Clearly, this reverence for love, women, earth and simplicity has to turn to action if we are to make the cultural shift that many of us hunger for. Yet this is a portal to initiating women, men and all beings to know this wild dark love in themselves, and that has to be a very central step to the revolution we need to survive.

There are five archetypes studied, The Erotic Mother, The Wild Women, The Slut, The Maiden and the Priestess over either an intense week or an eight-week evening format. The way you look at life and the human beings in it are transformed forever.

Given this is relatively new work, just seven years young, how did the world speak about female archetypes prior to this, lets walk down that path:

fem1

1. Sisters, do we run with the wolves?

fem2

2. Spell time methinks: For Love of Woman.

fem3

3. Could be the DE sister to-do list.

fem4

4. This work clearly heals the participant’s relationships with their ancestors: Familiar.

fem5

5. You enter many doors over the times, and you come out the other side, some easier than others.

fem6

6. Lucy rocks: Tantric Shamanic Dance Journey.

fem7

7. You get the opportunity to enquire into your relationship to the naked body if you wish.

fem8

8. Fuck Off: Closer.

fem9

9. Mrs POTUS, did she pass the test?

fem10

10. Take the risk, sisters: Last Stand.

fem11

11. Shadow and Light, they travel together and both are as necessary as each other.

fem12

12. It was some brave male sisters who kept requesting who saw this work became available for he’s as well as she’s: Good For You.

fem13

13. A drop of free water, magnificent line.

fem14

14. And from the lesser-known member of the Gates partnership, comes this powerful quote: Touch.

fem15.jpeg

15. And our final lesson comes from Lord of The Rings. Haldir was an Elf of Lothlórien, probably a Silvan Elf, and a march warden who guarded the forest’s northern borders. When the Fellowship of the Ring arrived in Lórien, he became their guide to Caras Galadhon. He and his companions are described as wearing grey hooded cloaks and residing on platforms or flets. Underlying all is Love.

This is Arion’s final wish in his news feed article about the work and its courses, May they fill with people and may we all grow an inner and outer love that brings a revolution of deep love and healthy power throughout the fabric of our worlds. I second the motion.

Today’s playlist comes from one of the Dancing Eros playlists I created from existing Spotify lists that began with the Dancing Eros titles. See, I much prefer visual to the audio, there are some damn sexy videos in the lists. If you put in Dancing Eros in the Youtube search engine you will find a few. The first track comes from Perequios, then Agnes Obel which is followed by a momentous track from Leyolah Antara. Two men follow, NIne Inch Nails and Kwabs. The penultimate track is from Selena Gomez and we finish with Holy Other: In Praise Of.

If this amazing work could spread across the planet, Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included would happen sooner than later, methinks. Remember if you like these blogs register to receive them in your inbox on the right-hand side. Until we meet again, my dear friends.

Let Go or You Will Be Dragged!!

Today we discuss desire as a feeling. I met a woman at a dance last Saturday who I desired, but then the thought I have no idea how to fulfil it came up. I discussed this with my mentor the following Wednesday and he suggested I spend the next week enquiring and breathing into what I felt desire was.

Some history, I have not been in a long term relationship for ten years and made a decision after the not so healthy breakup that it was probably better to remain single the rest of my life. Having made this decision and not having fully put it to rest may have something to do with my lack of ability to be in the acting on my desires with women space. I have declared it at times I am ready for one, but when the opportunity has arisen to express them I have tended to freeze so still some work to do in that area, methinks.

So what has happened in my enquiry into desires over the week? I was meant to attend a concert by a friend on Sunday morning but when I arrived at the address advertised it was a house not a church, so I decided to go to one of my favourite cafes for brunch. As I was sitting there, there was a tap on the window and there was one of the women I admire in my community taking her client for a walk. We blew a kiss to each other and I decided that I desired to get to know her more intimately as I consider she has one of the most beautiful souls I have met in recent years.

I sent her an SMS saying how it had warmed my heart seeing her beautiful smile and acknowledged her for the work she does in the community. It made me feel great having done it and put it down. An aside, I was sitting at a four-seat table on my own when a party of three came in, they were told there was no space, so I offered to move. When I left the owner thanked me as this was not the norm. I replied., why wouldn’t you if you could.

As I was leaving I ran into my friend on the street and was able to continue the conversation and find out a little bit more about what resides in her heart. It helped me realise that I had a funny idea of the desire of being intimate with people was.

Concerning that, what has humanity said about desires over our short journey on the planet, here are a few examples:

desire1

1. Rumi’s words are seven centuries old but the profound messages they hold ensure that they are read worldwide today.

desire2

2. Shreya is a Bollywood actress and singer, I’m sure most people on the planet have had days like these moments she mentions in this telling quote: Dhadak Title Track.

desire3

3. Is passion just another word for our desires?

desire4

4. I think the more intimate we are willing to be with each other, the greater the transformation possible, especially of our heartspace: Shallow.

desire5

5. A fine scientific formula in my opinion.

desire6

6. Shadow and Light, they travel together: Beautiful Pain.

desire7

7. Are these called tautologies?

desire8

8. In 1986 Coelho walked the 500-plus mile Road of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. On the path, he had a spiritual awakening, which he described autobiographically in The Pilgrimage. In an interview, Coelho stated “[In 1986], I was very happy in the things I was doing. I was doing something that gave me food and water – to use the metaphor in The Alchemist, I was working, I had a person whom I loved, I had money, but I was not fulfilling my dream. My dream was, and still is, to be a writer.” Coelho would leave his lucrative career as a songwriter and pursue writing full-time: Listen To Your Heart.

desire9

9. I’m still contemplating this one.

desire10

10. I think we are talking about Faith here: Faith.

desire11

11. Where do desires come from, for me, they seem to pop up in the most ridiculous times and places.

desire12

12. In this area, I vacillate between clucking and soaring: Fly Like An Eagle.

desire13

13. I need to have this done as my first tattoo.

desire14

14. As I have discovered over the past week, it is the same with your desires: Perfect Places.

desire15

15. We go back 2,500 years for our final lesson on desire to the time of the Ancient Greeks, Aristotle ensure us that all that drives our desires is imperishable whatever life throws at us.

Brene Brown writes in her book, I Thought it Was Just Me = But it Isn’t: There is a beautiful quote from spiritual teacher Marianne Williamson that really inspires me. As you read  it, I invite you to think about what she has written in the context of experiencing the shame you have around your desires:

Our deepest fear is that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won’t feel unsure around you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in everyone. As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

The playlist today contains some Bollywood and two duets, which is probably apt seeing this blog is about desires. Off to Bollywood for the first number with Shreya, then to Hollywood for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Rapper Eminem and Sia seem like an odd couple next then some classic rock from Roxette. George Michael features next. The penultimate number is a classic 70’s jam from The Steve Miller band and we cross the ditch for the final number from that fine songstress, Lorde: Let Go or You Will Be Dragged!!

So I believe if we were more willing to express our desires authentically we would be much closer to living in a world where Love and Respect For All, Everyone Included. Until we meet again, my dear friends. Don’t forget, you can sign up to receive. these blogs in your inbox twice weekly.

Why Walk When You Can Dance!!!

I made chai for Mojo, The Dance of Connection over the weekend. I have been chaistro for four different dances over the past month: Mojo, Dancing Freedom, Ecstatic Dance and Resonance Project. Here, in Melbourne Australia, we have a vibrant conscious dance scene which I love being part of. I hold that dance is one of the true forms of healing available on the planet. It has existed longer than language and takes us to states that words alone cannot.

Each dance is different: Mojo, to me, is the dance of healing where people get to be touched in a safe, loving manner during the forest and if they fulfil the request to dance with a different partner each track, they get to examine their relationship to connecting with others: How to contact Mojo. Dancing Freedom is more a personal shamanic transformational dance through the elements the earth is made from, you are a little bit different after each journey: How to contact Dancing Freedom. Ecstatic Dance each fortnight brings you diverse rhythms beats and melodies to attune your Body, Mind and Soul to: How to contact Ecstatic Dance. Resonance Project brings together an evening of 5Rhythms embodiment and sound medicine magic, a full sensory experience for you to journey deep and invite transformation of the highest frequency. It includes a guest musician as well: How to contact Resonance Project.

So there was dance before language, what have we said about it since we learned to speak, read and write, here are a few of my favourites:

dance1

1. The Hebrew Bible is not somewhere I would expect to find this quote praising dance.

dance2

2. Passion, turn to the left, hold on that’s: Fashion.

dance3

3. My Happy Place.

dance4

4. I just had to look up who Marilyn Ferguson was after reading this fantastic quote, A founding member of the Association of Humanistic Psychology, Ferguson published and edited the well-regarded science newsletter Brain/Mind Bulletin from 1975 to 1996. Her acquaintances included Bucky Fuller, Ram Dass and Al Gore: Let’s Dance

dance5

5. Considered one of the most innovative dancers of the last century, Isadora Duncan began teaching dance in her teens, unfortunately, she suffered one of the most bizarre causes of death when her scarf went around her cars axle.

dance6

6. Transcend the limitations of our self – what a beautiful description of ecstatic dance: Desert Dwellers at Burning Man.

dance7

7. All hail the teachers of dance that exist on the planet.

dance8

8. They have them, they are just made out of gossamer: Fly.

dance9

9. We dance for all the things!!!

dance10

10. And for me, it is always an honour: Waiting for Love.

dance11

11. How true is this in a dancers world, very in mine.

dance12

12. I feel so sorry for the deaf ones, they do not know what they are missing out on: My friend Suebee Fae.

dance13

13. In all its forms: folk, ballet, conscious, line, rock and roll, swing, etc. etc. etc.\

dance14

14. Even the cardiganed one has something to say about it: Dance Monkey.

dance15

15. Our final lesson on the dance comes from an extraordinary source: Margaretha Geertruida “Margreet” MacLeod, better known by the stage name Mata Hari, was a Dutch exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy for Germany during World War I and executed by firing squad in France.

So as you may have guessed dancing is one of my passions, I have fallen in love with my friends Marc and Angel Chernoff’s lists again: Here are some questions on passion to make you think.

1. What will you never give up on?

2. What activities make you lose track of time?

3. What’s something you would do for every day if you could?

4. At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?

5. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?

6. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back?

7. What is something you would hate to go without for a day?

8. Would you rather have less work to do or more work you actually enjoy doing?

9. What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

I have tried to include some more obscure tracks beside the classic tracks about dance in the playlist today. We begin with David Bowie twice, yes, one of them is that track. From The Desert Dwellers next is a sunrise set then we fly with Marshmello. Avicii lays down the next track and then my friend from Byron Shire, Suebee Fae features. We end with a track from Ireland by the Tones and I: Why Walk When You Can Dance!!!

Death takes no Bribes!!!

I spent yesterday watching the ABC inspiring documentary Old People’s Home for 4-Year-olds, the premise is a group of 4 years old would visit an aged care facility and re-inspire a group of 70 and 80-year-olds to partake in life again. But what if you don’t make it to 70 or 80 like my friend who passed away at Burning Man this week in what would seem the most extraordinary circumstances. He is the third person I have known this year who has passed before their time. One of them gave me a download as follows: Get on with your passion and dreams, I am living evidence that you cannot guarantee you will be here tomorrow, so get on with it.

As the title of this blog says, Death takes no bribes, so how has society spoken about those that we lose earlier than we expect, here are some of my favourites:

early1

1. For me, it was Fathers Day in our country yesterday, even though it has been over 9 years my dear dad passed away I still remember his quirky habits that I loved so dearly.

early2

2. Because they are not here to answer it in the flesh: Too Young To Die.

early3

3. The three people I knew said this in their own unique ways.

early4

4. It is very rarely we assume that the goodbyes we say to our beloveds will be the last time we have the opportunity to: The Last Goodbye.

early5

5. Charles Palahniuk (born February 21, 1962) is an American novelist and freelance journalist, who describes his work as transgressional fiction. He is the author of the award-winning novel Fight Club, which also was made into a popular film of the same name.

early7

6. I think every human on earth has an unfinished story in their life: The Unfinished Story.

early8

7. One of my favourite stories relating to this is when a butterfly magically appeared when he was selling his dearly departed’s car.

early9

8. Lest we forget: Never Forget You.

early10

9. Time to go out bush and look at the Milky Way again.

early11

10. What is it that reminds you of your departed? For me, it is the meditation stool my parents brought me as a surprise birthday present: There You’ll Be.

early12

11. Loving memories cannot be taken from us.

early13

12. At what age the person is this doesn’t matter, I missed with my mum, I was on the way to see her when she passed. And all the younger souls, who would have thought you would not get the chance again.: How Long Will I Love You.

early14

13. A positive way to remember those who have passed.

early15

14. It may be one year, thirty or ninety years, remember how lucky you were to receive the blessing of their life: Sunbeams.

early16

15. And for our final lesson, remember they always remain in your heart if they may no longer be here physically.

So taking my friends download to heart, lets get out there and live our lives to the fullest.

The playlist begins with the man and finishes with the women. First, we have Jamiroquai, then Jeff Buckley. Our unknown entry is from South Africa, their name is Stimela. Zara Larsson starts the women, followed by Faith Hill. The penultimate song is Elliot Goulding and we finish with Lil Bo Weep and Zheani: Death Takes NO Bribes.

So given that we rarely know when our loved ones will pass, remember to live from Love and Respect from All, Everyone Included. Also if you wish to receive my blogs on a regular basis remember to sign up on the email list. Until we meet again, dear friends.

From Where We Are, There Is Always a Pathway to Love!!!

So, its the day after the Warriors of Love retreat and a feel many kilos of dross lighter. We looked at the power of choice in quite a rigorous and at time lighthearted way. I picked up a new nickname to go along with Tiny Tim and DF, I have to use the initials as the whole name and story behind it would not pass #Metoo guidelines these days. The latest addition is Naughty Boy. Here is some info about the Warriors of Love: Enter the Portal.

We worked with the distinctions The Loop and As it Is and What I Choose. I struggled with this for quite a time as the concept there are always consequences after making a choice got in the way. I got it in the end though.

So how has humanity worded choice over the centuries, let’s take that journey:

choice1

  1. This quote is talking to you , not your circumstances.

choice2

2. This is an ongoing inquiry that ends when they throw the dirt on your coffin: The Path to Wisdom.

choice3

3. Two words, great list.

choice4

4. All hail Queen Oprah: Every Sperm Is Sacred.

choice5

5. Probably been replaced with the word journalling these days.

choice6

6. Trust the gut feeling and get the fuck out of there: Diamonds.

choice7

7. Luckily for me, my siblings are amongst my dearest friends, are yours?

choice8

8. What if you daily choices were that free: How Far I’ll Go.

choice9

9. Your awesomely wonderful life isn’t choosing, your heart-space is.

choice10

10. Blogger turned New York Times best-selling author and speaker Mandy Hale is the creator of the social media movement, “The Single Woman.” With a heart to inspire single women to live their best lives and to never, ever settle, Mandy cuts to the heart of the matter with her inspirational, straight-talking, witty, and often wildly humorous take on life and love. Mandy’s message reaches literally millions of women across the world every day through her blog, books, and social media platforms: I am Woman.

choice11

11. I found this one on consequences.

choice12

12. How many day and moments do you choose this: Can’t Stop The Feeling.

choice13

13. When was that again, Today?

choice14

14. Feeling life instead of just attending it, that would be novel: Freedom.

choice15

15. And for your final lesson, realise that where you choices take you is your own unique journey, the one meant for you.

We will finish with one of my friend Marc Chernoff’s lists, Ten Timeless Lessons/Choices from a Life Well Lived:

  1. Happiness cannot be travelled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed.
  2. Be a student of life every day.
  3. Experience is the best teacher.
  4. Your choices, your actions, your life.
  5. No one is “too busy” It’s all about priorities.
  6. Be patient and tough. Someday this pain will be useful to you.
  7. It’s usually better to be kind than be right.
  8. You can become a . magnet for good things by wishing everybody well.
  9. Only you are in charge of your attitude.
  10. Satisfaction is not always the fulfilment of what you want.

I have taken up the practice of including a relative unknown song on the playlist. Its begins todays and is by Mr. 48 Alec Verkuilen.  The next track speaks to the light side of the weekend and is by the Monty Python crew. Then back to my beloved pop divas with a number by Rihanna. A track from a musical follows from Auli’i Cravalho. An ode to women from Jordin Sparks is before the penultimate track by Justin Timberlake and we finish with the iconic Beyonce: From Where We Are, There is Always a Pathway To Love.

You, Will, Find It Is Necessary To Let Go!!!

You find that some days you have to do things that mean you have to let go of your intentions and do things that don’t fit on your to-do list. How many times do you do this, I had to do one this morning, I was meant to teach English but I had a severe cold so not wanting to make my students suffer a cold as well, I called them and cancelled the classes. I really enjoy teaching Bing and Julie but realised that infecting a father and a mother was not something I should do.

I’m going to send them emails with classes they can do during the week. So how do we do things that are not fitting in our daily necessities? How has society learnt to let go of the things that don’t fit in the necessary to-do lists?

accept1

1. Crying is one thing that doesn’t come up a lot, but as Jennifer says its one of the best things you can do.

accept2

2. It’s the impossible dream: The Impossible Dream.

accept3

3. Letting go of you, that is who you are forgiving.

accept4

4. Letting go of things that are no longer good for you: Let It Go.

accept5

5. The past is where they belong, your problems that is!!

accept6

6. Have you found yourself recently?: Love Myself.

accept7

7. Do you question why it didn’t work out, Winna suggests you do.

accept8

8. It Is Us, Not hummus, So Right: This Is Me.

accept9

9. Not everybody can unfurl their fingers.

accept10

10. Buddha was a wise, wise man: Just The Way You Are.

accept11

11. I just liked this photo.

accept12

12. As an empath, you get to hold all the emotions: Emotions.

accept13

13. Remembering that word, Fear!!

accept14

14. I met my inner child last week, twice: Sweet Dreams

accept15

15. There are times I cannot let the memories go.

So letting go covered many different ways of relating to it. Today’s playlist goes back to the 1970s with the King, Elvis. Then we move onto the musical, Frozen. We visit a pop diva, Hailee Steinfeld next. More musical tunes from the Greatest Showman cast. Bruno Mars follows. The penultimate number is the famous Mariah Carey and we finish with the Eurythmics: You Will Find It Necessary To Let It Go.

So we read my ethos as our final lesson for the day: Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. That’s what I hold as the final statement for the day. Until we meet again, my dear friends.

It Can Struggle, But the Bond Cannot Be Broken!!!

Today, I am writing about how I often feel when I am in the presence of love directed towards me. What do you think the first line of the above quote I chose for the title of this blog was? It was about a version of love never failing the test. Yes, it was Unconditional Love, and through the experience of my identity, I know I have struggled with this over the years. Researching this I came across a great article on the matter: called Soulmates and Unconditional Love in a journal called PyschCentral by Darlene Lancer, here are the guts of it:

Are you searching for a soulmate or unconditional love? Your quest can set you on an impossible journey to find an ideal partner. The problem is twofold: People and relationships can never achieve perfection. Often unconditional and conditional love are confused.

Usually, we yearn for unconditional love because we didn’t receive it in childhood and fail to give it to ourselves. Of all relationships, parental love, particularly maternal love, is the most enduring form of unconditional love. (In prior generations, paternal love was thought of as conditional.) But in fact, most parents withdraw their love when they’re overstressed or when their children misbehave. To a child, even timeouts can feel like emotional abandonment. Thus, rightly or wrongly, most parents at times only love their children conditionally.

Is Unconditional Love Possible?

Unlike romantic love, unconditional love does not seek pleasure or gratification. Unconditional love is more a state of receptivity and allowing, which arises from our own “basic goodness,” says Trungpa Rimpoche. It’s the total acceptance of someone — powerful energy emanating from the heart.

Love that is unconditional transcends time, place, behaviour, and worldly concerns. We don’t decide who we love, and sometimes don’t know why. The motives and reasons of the heart are unfathomable, writes Carson McCullers:

The most outlandish people can be the stimulus for love. . . The preacher may love a fallen woman. The beloved may be treacherous, greasy-headed, and given to evil habits. Yes, and the lover may see this as clearly as anyone else — but that does not affect the evolution of his love one whit. ~ The Ballad of the Sad Café (2005), p. 26

McCullers explains that most of us prefer to love than be loved:

. . . the value and quality of any love is determined solely by the lover himself. It is for this reason that most of us would rather love than be loved. Almost everyone wants to be the lover. And the curt truth is that, in a deep secret way, the state of being beloved is intolerable to many. ~ ibid

Ideally, the giving and receiving of unconditional love is a unitary experience. Couples experience this most frequently when falling in love. It also happens when someone fearlessly opens up to us in an intimate setting. It’s a being-to-being recognition of that which is unconditional in each of us, our humanity, as if to lovingly say, “Namaste,” meaning: “The God (or divine consciousness) within me salutes the God within you.” When we delight in another’s being-ness, boundaries may dissolve in what feels like a spiritual experience. This allows energy to flow into places of resistance that surround our heart and can be deeply healing. It can happen during moments of vulnerability during therapy.

Yet, inevitably, these occurrences don’t last, and we return to our ordinary ego state — our conditioned self. We all have our preferences, idiosyncrasies, and particular tastes and needs, which have been conditioned by our upbringing, religion, society, and experiences. We also have limits about what we will and won’t accept in a relationship. When we love conditionally, it’s because we approve of our partner’s beliefs, needs, desires, and lifestyle. They match up with ours and give us comfort, companionship, and pleasure.

We’re fortunate to meet someone we can love conditionally and, at times, unconditionally. The combination of both forms of love in one relationship makes our attraction intense. It’s the closest we come to finding a soulmate.

How has humanity related to unconditional love over the decades, here are some ways they have taken a cut at it:

lov1

1. Rev. Melony McGant aka Miss Mellie Rainbow is a storyteller, thought-leader, humanist, poet, & compassionate communications professional with more than 30 years experience in helping people find love. How my Essence must be flowing I feel for love of another to be present.

lov2.jpeg

2. As said in this quote it is a daily journey towards it: We Need Love.

lov3

3. There are no Google entries for Akashwani, there should be just because of this quote.

lov4

4. Oops, they got it wrong: Skin.

lov5

5. The King Dick Gregory is talking about is Martin Luther King Jnr.

During the turbulent 1960s, Gregory became a pioneer in stand-up comedy for his “no-holds-barred” sets, in which he mocked bigotry and racism. He performed primarily to black audiences at segregated clubs until 1961, when he became the first black comedian to successfully cross over to white audiences, appearing on television and putting out comedy record albums.

Gregory was at the forefront of political activism in the 1960s, when he protested the Vietnam War and racial injustice. He was arrested multiple times and went on many hunger strikes. He later became a speaker and author, primarily promoting spirituality.

lov6

6. You must have the strength in all situations, even the shitty ones: The Greatest Love of All.

lov7

7. The scientific explanation of why love is not based on looks.

lov8

8. Dedicated, Caring, Disciplined, Wise, Precise, Power-full, Committed and Cheeky are words often used to describe Tanya Curtis. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Fabic Behaviour Specialist Centre and Co-Founder and Managing Director of Sunlight Ink Publishing. Tanya is also an award-winning Business Woman, Behaviour Specialist, Teacher, Course Writer, Presenter, Author, DVD Presenter, App Creator, Product Developer, Mentor and Student Supervisor: Who You Are.

lov9

9. Bliss in Love equals acceptance of both the Shadow and the Light.

lov10

10. The times I have fallen in love have always been in spite of all the stories I tell myself why it won’t work out: Sing for My Life.

lov11

11. I think the two words at the bottom, self-acceptance sum it up pretty damn well!!

lov12

12. I can hardly see without my glasses at times, but I do see and agree with this: Superficial Love.

lov13

13. If the future Buddha says it, I’m in.

lov14

14. All or None: Love ‘Em All

lov15

15. And for the final lesson, a four-word mantra you must never forget in the game of love.

Opening the Heart

Unconditional love isn’t a high ideal we need to achieve. Actually, striving after it removes us from the experience. It’s always present as the unconditioned part of us — our “pure, primordial presence,” writes Buddhist psychologist John Welwood. He believes that we can glimpse it through mindfulness meditation. By observing our breath, we become more present and can appreciate our basic goodness. In mediation and in therapy, we find those places we choose to hide from ourselves and others.

Relationships can provide a path to opening the frozen places in our hearts. Love can melt a closed heart. However, maintaining that openness demands courage. The struggle for intimacy challenges us to continually reveal ourselves. Just when we’re tempted to judge, attack, or withdraw, we open to our hurt and that of our partner. In doing so, we discover what we’re hiding, and triggers from our past yield opportunities to heal and embrace more of ourselves.

The playlist today is chock full of pop divas singing about love. The only male starts off, John Legend doing one of his soulful numbers, then six divas: We begin with Rihanna, go back a few decades to Whitney Houston. Then hang around this century with Jessie J., Sia, Ruth B. and finish with K. Michelle: It Can Struggle but the Bond Cannot Be Broken.

if you wish to read my blog on a regular basis remember to sign up on the list with your email address. Love is a great subject for Love and Respect for All Everybody Included to manifest through. Until next time we meet, my dear friends.
