There’s no good story without Romance!!

Had to rely on the noticeboard at work for a subject today as I forgot to bring a reference book. There was a brochure, free legal advice every Wednesday which made me think how seriously do we take free advice and when do we give it?

So what does this term mean, let’s look at each word:

When combines it seems to relate to legal advice, but what do we say about free advice, here we go:

3. How come they ascertain beauty as fitting in a perfect mould/style of people when the greatest percentage of people do not look like that at all, thank god for personality.

5. Which is more valuable to you, the latter does it for me.

6. Sage advice to take on the path to success or just living life: Unfinished.

7. What a beautiful line this is, do you love the most?

8. Ain’t that the truth, as they come out of your mouth the counter starts turning: Love Story.

9. Time to power up in your daily conversations. Don’t waste words where they are not welcomed.

10. Who is more expert on your needs and desires than that person in the mirror, after all: Talking to Myself.

11. More or Less, your choice.

12. Leave the fake news and images to the media who want your money, listen to your heart: The Man I want to Be.

13. Rin is a manga character, her advice will have you work out who are the keepers in your life.

14. I met one of my best buddies at a very drunken and stoned parties in inner suburban melbourne playing trees, she is definitely not a dead leaf: Tree.

15. We are the Martin Luther Kings and Nelson Mandela’s of our time, we have the same 24 hours in a day they did.

Find Your Passion!!!!

Both of my English students have pulled the plug today so I get to write this blog a few hours earlier, I have decided to write an ode to my friend and anam cara Emeli Paulo. I met Emeli setting out chairs at a yoga and meditation event some years ago. Both Emeli and I are the sort of people who if they see something needs to be done we get in and do it. We introduced ourselves and I asked why she had come. Emeli said she was running a workshop that would address what stops you in your life from having what you want happen. I still have her card with Stop Running Away written on it. As always she delivered her promise.

I am reading Simon Sinek’s second book Leaders eat Last. If you don’t know who Simon is he’s the start with Why guy, here’s a link to his TED talk, the second most watched one in the history of TED ;How great Leaders inspire Action. Emeli had me stick to my Why, which I had been resisting for two and a half years: Love and Respect for All – Everyone Included.

Why, How, What, how has the world written about it over time, let’s have a look:

1. Finding it difficult to get out of bed? Have you why written on your dresser window and it will go away.

2. I’d lose that extra weight if I was motivated. Your only limit is You, Do it Now, If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. Sounds like a Tony Robbins seminar in full flight. But if underneath it all, if you have not answered Why?, words spoken and written on parchment that will make no difference: No Excuses.

3. Google has let me down, when I put in Coach Hite it brought up coach hire in Melbourne, Australia where I live, so he must remain anonymous, but it’s such a beautiful quote it deserves more.

4. I always thought David Bowie was singing: Passion , turn to the left ilo Fashion, so here it is: Fashion.

5. As kids we run around all day like this, then something happens. Time to take it back.

6. In my youth I would boast I read Nietzsche to look cool, now he writes leadership and motivational quotes. His books are not quite so accessible: Roar.

7. My birthday, is 17th July, must admit can’t remember the other. I do know where, at the Darebin Intercultural Centre one, windy, rainy day during a Melbourne winter.

8. But Mummy, The unicorn was that big. Never forget your childhood unicorns: Dark Horse.

9. In the mirror. It’s You, Yay!! Out on the streets to kick some ass.

10. Here is the man himself, Simon Sinek, something we love called passion: beautiful words and ethos: Love is Action.

11. This is what finding your Why allows you in life. Get on board, the bus is leaving now.

12. My mentor Arion always says to have a vision and essence for any project you wish to fulfill in your life. It will be there to remind you when the going gets tough. Thanks brother , for that: You and Me.

13. This is why we spend our lives finding our Why, because of the things that never were that we are meant to create, little or large,

14. I’d add one, Know your Why on a daily basis: Believe in Yourself.

15. One smile at a total stranger is enough to do this. Don’t be withholding.

I just realised you may not know what an Anam cara is? Anam Cara is the old gaelic term for “soul friend.” anam meaning soul and cara meaning friend. Anam Ċara is the title of a 1997 bestseller on “Celtic spirituality”, the first publication by Irish author and then-priest John O’Donohue. According to O’Donohue, the Irish term anam cara (lit. “soul-friend”) originates in Irish monasticism, where it was applied to a monk’s spiritual advisor.

The book was an international bestseller and catapulted the author to public notability as an author and much sought-after speaker and teacher particularly in the United States. O’Donohue left the priesthood in 2000. As O’Donohue puts it: The term is greatly misconstrued to mean “soul mate”, anam meaning soul and cara meaning friend.

Opportunity beckons in a five star Location.

I forgot to bring a book today to take my subject from. No Gabby Bernstein, No Danielle LaPorte, no Marc and Angel Chernoff. What to do, I know, read the local paper, the Preston Leader. And there it was on the back page in the real estate section, the perfect subject, opportunity, not as the ad for the investment property suggested but where we hold opportunity to be in our lives.

Our self development company, Collective Potential used to work out of a co-working space that had a mural of a bird leaping off a cliff with the words, jump, and learn how to fly on the way down. It always stuck in my heart as to what opportunity offered oneself. So lets jump off that cliff and have a look at what people have said about it over time:

Marie Forleo, creator of the B-School operates her multi million dollar business from her laptop mainly. Taking that opportunity has transformed thousands of peoples lives. What simple thing could transform your life?

2. Only one song can go here: Morning has Broken.

3. This is your opportunity in life, blow them away!!

4. When is stops working for you, breathe in and start all over again, remembering what that mistake taught you: Begin Again.

5. Yes is the correct answer, then learn the rest as you go on an amazing journey.

6. I was gifted one of the great questions by a Landmark Education Forum leader. When I used to say I don’t know, he would say, then who should I ask. This gave me the opportunity to face that which I was unwilling by saying I don’t know: All to Well.

12. That looks like hard work, not for me. Bang, there goes another of the opportunities offered to you by the universe. Life is not always meant to be easy: Work.

13. Helen Keller proved to the world that deaf people could all learn to communicate and that they could survive in the hearing world. She also taught that deaf people are capable of doing things that hearing people can do. One of the most famous deaf people in history, she is an idol to many deaf people in the world.

14. Holding that parts of your life are separate from other parts is silly, you are always there whatever you call the day: Dreadlock Holiday.

15. I dance on the conscious dance floors of 5RHythms, Dancing Freedom and Mojo Dance. Where do you seize the opportunities in your life?

So the opportunity I would like ot take as I sign off is that I would love Oprah to read this and fall in love with my blogs.

Every Experience makes you Grow!!!

The four major areas that this occurs for me are my love relationships, my friendships, my adventures, my environment, my health and fitness, my intellectual life, my skills, my spiritual life, my career, my creative life, my family life and my community life. These are my areas of experiences, growth and contribution. Today I would like to discuss how we handle growth in our lives.

When you watch how young children soak up information, you realise how deeply wired we are to learn and grow. Why does it seem to falter as we grow older? Why can’t we continue to learn and grow until the day we leave this mortal coil. I think we actually do , it’s what we do with it that makes the difference. Lets take a journey down the growth path over the years:

1. After publishing four bestselling books in five years, Sarah Allen took a hiatus when she was diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer at age 39. She returned to writing with her 2014 bestselling Lost Lake. She is now in remission. In 2015, she revisited the popular setting of her first book..

2. I don’t look the same as when I was expelled from Eaglehawk High School in 1972 for not attending and generally not giving a toss about formal education. Also the journey I have taken since those days into education that makes a difference means that I have grown exponentially since those days long ago: Try Everything.

3. Remember when that door didn’t open for you last year. That was meant to happen so that you can be where you are now.

4. Your growth is up to you, not the stories of others. All the great people on the planet got there listening to their stories, not the tales of others: My Story.

5. Ralph Waldo Emerson was an American essayist, lecturer, and poet who led the transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century. He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society.

6. Differents stages in life that that will have you end up in a powerful place: Rest of my Life.

7. There’s a scene in a good or bad Steve Martin film called Parenthood where his family is going apeshit and the screen becomes like a roll coaster ride. He rides it for a while then life begins to flow again.

8. The author of the inspiring The Monk who sold his Ferrari, Robin Sharma’s words and life speaks of the possibility of having gorgeous in our lives: Gorgeous.

9. Founder of the Firestone Tyre company Harvey wrote a book way back in 1926 called Men of Rubber: The Story of Business. Firestone, Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison were generally considered the three leaders in American industry at the time, and often worked and vacationed together. All three were part of a very exclusive group titled “The Millionaires’ Club.”

10. Rooting means different things in different parts of the world. here in my hometown of Melbourne , Australia rooting has an entirely different sexual meaning: Rooting for You.

11. I have a friend who would be considered a perfectionist, she doesn’t start at least half of her projects due to this, Its Growth not perfection that gets things done.

12. Stuck at the starting gates, they got nothing done: Pompeii.

13. Seeds need sun and wind and rain to become trees, so do we humans.

14. A Useful resource in this area is Wayne Dyer’s book Excuses Begone: Excuses Begone.

15. 300 metre trees were once but mere seeds, their growth is pure evidence of life.

These twelve areas are blueprints for the soul, the opportunity to feel different every day you wake up, to have a 1,000 litres of vitality versus 100 in your life by taking on growth each day.

Deep positivity means that you have Faith that you’ll be okay, no matter what happens. Not if it all works out for you in the end. Not if you get what you want when you think you should get it. No matter what. Deep positivity knows that Life will have your back even when you don’t manifest what you want: Danielle LaPorte, White Hot Truth.

Want do you want in your life, is is just for your benefit or the benefit of others? I recently did an exercise where one of the most powerful questions was what did I have to give to society, I answered it with my words and my wisdom, when you get to 62, 63 next Monday you have a fair bit of both.

So I put Deep Positivity in Google Images and the following quotes are what caught my eye, let’s journey:

1. One of the dangers in life, becoming a workshop junkie and not using the new distinctions you have learnt in your day to day experience.

2. I got a Facebook friend request yesterday from a woman who I used to once consider among my 5 dearest friends, she moved away. I’m glad she is back in my life: Old Friends.

3. 6 Mental health episodes later, I fully agree with this statements, some people are saints, others sinners.

4. Marvelous is the power of thought. Thinking is as natural to man as breathing. Thought has lifted man above the level of the animal world. It has raised him from the savage to the civilized state in life. Man’s thought rules the world. The power to think is man’s most precious right and his proudest privilege. How are you going to use this skill: Always on my Mind.

5. I recently have been working on a database of people who are considered gurus and thought leaders by our society. The amazing thing about these people is that they were just ordinary folk until they discovered their why in life.

6. They are free to give, share widely: Something Just Like This.

7. And this is why you give them, share widely!!!

8. I am part of a Facebook group called the Daily Gratitude Space, it’s all about joy, join us: Dancing Queen.

9. My favourite colour is purple, what’s yours?

10. These make my list along with long pushbike rides, conscious dancing – deep positivity: Hurricane.

11. Still knocking? Get the message, it’s positive too.

12. We all love those pictures of babies living in awe of the world, you job is to never forget: Light up the World.

14. And my wish is ……………………………..: A dream is a wish your heart makes.

Woodstock 1969, drugs , sex and rock’n’roll. Those people were your grandparents, Respect please.

Be positive for yourself, for others. I live by my why – Love and Respect for All – Everyone Included. This is a worldwide vision. I invite you on the journey.

Just got back from a weekend retreat with my mentor Arion Light: The Activation School. We never know what new surprising empowerment will be served up. This weekend it was an initiation. So what does society define an initiation as, here’s the Google definition:

initiation

the action of admitting someone into a society or group, typically with a ritual.

“rituals of initiation”

synonyms: beginning, starting, commencement

the action of beginning something.

“the initiation of legal proceedings”

synonyms: introduce, admit, let, induct, install, instate, incorporate, ordain, invest, enlist, enrol, recruit, sign up, swear in;

I think ordain is the closest to what I felt on the weekend because it felt like being introduced to a whole new cut at life. So how has society commented on the noble art of initiation over the years, let’s have a look:

1. It is, or it isn’t: why would you choose the latter, yet I know I do. Inition helped me greatly with hanging around with it is.

2. My friend says she became another person when this happened for her at a very late stage in her life, from the mothers I know there seems to be a lot of truth in it: I Got You.

3. I’m not sure if we all felt this at the end of the ceremony, but the sense of love within the room was palpable.

4. They say a life that is spent in reacting and responding to day to day situations and circumstances is stressful, let’s initiate life from today: Shape of You.

5. It’s a lifetime journey, my dear friends.

6. That’s why I and the participants are in the Activators program, the love of learning how to live a better life: Good Life.

7. One of the first spiritual books I read,The Way of the peaceful Warrior. Dan Millman was a world class gymnast when he had a horrific motorcycle accident. The book is about his journey to recovery with his teacher.

8. We were just waking up who we already were: The Crazy Ones.

9. Within first, then the without joins in happily.

11. We weren’t learning how to initiate this, ours was about love.

12. This was part of my initiation, I spent a lot of time having the thought, WTF is going on: Full of Shit.

15. Finally from one of the greatest philosophers to walk the planet, something that must be included in any effective initiation: Gratitude or celebration as we practice it in the Activators Program.

We were asked to make a final statement at the end of the weekend, mine were rapturous contentment

It changes the entire Conversation!!

I’m an one on one English tutor at Darebin Intercultural Centre in Preston, Victoria, Australia. My student didn’t turn up this morning and I had printed her a lesson called Making Contact. I put this in Google Images and it brought up hundred of quotes on making eye contact, transfiguration by another name.

My friend Chris runs these amazing transfiguration events where you share eye contact with 20 different people over the evening and you finish with a I Love you Circle. This was not what I expected when I typed the words in so let’s have a look at some of these quotes and how they can be interpreted:

1. Kids get it, but adults have had the joy and imagination beaten out of their imagination.

2. Making eye contact with a total stranger was how I met my first true soulmate, on a railway station of all places: Soul on Fire.

3. I heard about living your highest values from John Di Martini the other night but what I will remember most is the friendly single mum from Tasmania I met in the line when our eyes crossed.

4. If you want what you say to land with the person you are speaking to make sure you have grabbed their attention: Don’t Look Down.

5. I make Chai at Mojo dance once a month, I dance with a women who I have screamed at, we have serious trouble looking into each other’s eyes, I hope she reads this.

6. This has happened to me three times in the past month, one of them was 22 years old. What is my soul trying to tell me: Friends.

7. I love the word lovely, Yummy.

8. Yahia Lababidi is an Egyptian-American thinker and Pushcart-nominated poet, whose work has been translated into nearly a dozen languages. 14. Sarcasm is a beautiful thing, shit women have to put up with all the time: Stop staring at my Boobs.

15. And then there are times this has to be the next action.

Well, Eye contact, AKA transfiguration is a very powerful tool for connecting with your fellow human beings, practice it as often as you can.

Do you know who you Are?

I am about to begin my journey as a Sacred Love Workshop leader. I came up with the concept on the dance floor at Mojo Dance one night when I looked around and noticed that most of the people would go home alone but that they were all beautiful people and deserved so much more. About half an hour later the term Sacred Love came to me, and the concept that we had stopped being vulnerable with each other and telling each other our sacred stories.

I am still reading Daring Greatly, up to the section on vulnerability, the true caring and feeding of our spirits. Lets open up the board on vulnerability:

1. Declaring herself as a poet and a woman in progress, Raquel Franco in her book of poetry Keep me Wild delves deeply into the bravery it takes to be vulnerable.

2. I had to choose carefully so I didn’t end up with 15 Brene Brown quotes on vulnerability, but I like the simplicity of this one: You are so Beautiful.

3. Considered an important figure in postmodern literature. Steven Poole of The Guardian praised Murakami as “among the world’s greatest living novelists” for his works and achievements. I love his cure.

4. How many years do we forget this for between the openness of our childhood to having it be OK again: Vulnerable.

5. I have a new friend tell me about her twin sisters death a month after I met her. I asked her why she had told me. She said that she felt she could trust me with anything.

6. In my Sacred Love workshop you will practice declaring you weaknesses and your strengths for each chakra: When you Believe.

7. We must never forget the shadow as well as the light, we need to go to both places to free our vulnerability.

8. Open your heart the whole way, the most courageous act a human being can partake in: Open Your Heart.

9. They say masked balls are the epitome of High Society. Myself, I reckon an unmasking ball would be a much more inviting evening.

10. I don’t understand these modern gurus who make you pay thousands of dollars to yell and scream for a weekend as a way to be empowered when the above is what connects people and turns you into a leader: Thank U.

11. In the classic relationship movie Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf, this quote is lived out on the screen . It was nominated for 23 awards.

12. From Avatar, the classic scene: I see You, do you have the courage to say it to your loved ones and friends: I See You.

13. One of the great paradoxes of life, if we withhold our trust of others we never reach the plateau of Love and Joy.

14. I wonder what the tipping point is for reversing this situation for the planet, the Dalai Lama is working on it: Unconditionally.

15. Finally use all of it.

The quest is to know yourself first and then this will allow others to reveal themselves to you.

Why don’t you Understand?

One of the most obscure and funny workshops I have done is a jargon workshop. Each person had to do a five minute talk using the jargon of their profession and the other participants had to guess what their profession or career was. The one profession nobody could guess was aeronautical engineer. It made me realise that jargon can be very costly when dealing with people who do not work in your industry. Little wonder that you see a lot of blank stares from people at shops, online and in government institutions.

So what has been said about the cost of using jargon over the centuries, let’s have a look:

1. While wading through the whimsies, the puerilities and unintelligent words of many documents to apply for most legal actions we know why lawyers are one of the highest paid professions.

2. Chesterton is often referred to as the “prince of paradox”. Time magazine has observed of his writing style: “Whenever possible Chesterton made his points with popular sayings, proverbs, allegories—first carefully turning them inside out: Perfect Illusion.

3. What words does your profession confuse people with?

4. The curly haired genius , Albert points out why using jargon is not the way to go: One Little Finger.

5. Mason Cooley (1927 – July 25, 2002) was an American aphorist known for his witty aphorisms. Perhaps he was using some of his own when he wrote this quote.

6. I think I know what two of these words mean, not sure about the others though: So What.

7. I am a one on one English tutor to three Chinese mothers, I would not dare do this to them.

8.I didn’t know Helena began her cosmetic empire in my country. She migrated to Australia at the age of 30 and began her empire in Melbourne before moving to London: Lay me Down.

9. Don’t know about this, at least books you can usually understand the words contained in them.

10. The Irish have a term Anam Cara, it means soul friend, I have the honour of being declared one by a dear friend: Anam Cara.

11. the dumbing down of society, methinks.

12. What culture are these words from, do they relate to yours: Instant Karma.

13. Katherine Anne Porter (May 15, 1890 – September 18, 1980) was a Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist, essayist, short story writer, novelist, and political activist. Her 1962 novel Ship of Fools was the best-selling novel in America that year, but her short stories received much more critical acclaim. She is known for her penetrating insight; her work deals with dark themes such as betrayal, death and the origin of human evil.

14. The recommendation these days is to write blogs, because they personalise events, even for businesses, they are fascinating stories: Amazing Grace story.

15. The jargon of twenty years ago is now obsolete, if we used it how would we explain the Iphone?

Jargon may be costing you meeting your Anam Cara, cut it out of your arsenal of words.

I like walking in the Rain!!

What is your favorite fresh thing, one of mine is walking in the rain!! Being washed clean by Gaia, given a new start!! As we have more and more fresh things taken away from us and given processed experiences how do we claim back our fresh moments?

It is probably in our childhood years we experience freshness on a day to day basis. Running from one adventure to another, being excited moment to moment. What does the world have to say about being fresh in our lives, let’s have a look:

1. To experience all that occurs in your life allows each moment to have a freshness to it, a sense of adventure.

2. Ready, Steady, Go. It’s time to begin today’s new adventure: Tomorrow.

3. Who’s afraid of the big bad wolf of stopping and starting over again. Remember that he is not real, only made up in your thoughts.
