Be your own self, Love what you Love.

You are powerful when you believe in yourself – when you know that you are capable of anything you put your mind to. You are beautiful when your strength and determination shines as you follow your own path – when you aren’t dishevelled by the obstacles along the way. You are unstoppable when you let your mistakes educate you, as your confidence builds from experiences – when you know you can fall down, pick yourself up, and move forward.

These inspiring words are from Marc Chernoff, he also provides 11 ways to become this person:

  1. Stop judging, and appreciate the beauty within you.
  2. Treat yourself the way you want others to treat you.
  3. Care less about who you are to others.
  4. Know your worth.
  5. Don’t rush intimate relationships.
  6. Let go of those who aren’t really there.
  7. Forgive yourself and others.
  8. Focus on the Positive.
  9. Believe in the person you are capable of being.
  10. Work on Goals you believe in.
  11. Keep working and looking straight forward.

This chapter is entitled 11 ways to become the person you love, so lets have a look at what society has said about being the person you love:

1. Amazing work! Kaci Diane has found a way to capture her raw emotions in a way that allows the reader to join her on a journey of hopes, dreams, ups and downs. You feel the highs and lows of each poem as Kaci gives you a glimpse into her heart and soul.”

In the end, loving yourself os about enjoying your life, trusting your own feeling. taking chances, losing and finding happiness, cherishing the memories, and learning from the past. Sometimes you have to stop worrying, wondering, and doubting. Have faith that things will work out maybe not exactly how you planned, but just how it’s meant to be.

Today’s playlist is crowded with pop divas and some worldly advice. We begin with ex-members of the Gap Band, Charles Wilson and Tyrese, then our first diva Selena Gomez. The Black Eyed Peas appear before divas Iggy Azalea, Ariana Grande and Kate Perry. We finish with the wisdom of Brene Brown: Be your own self, Love what you Love.

Becoming the person you love allows you to love others: Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included, I look forward to seeing you again next time we meet, my dear friends.

You don’t always need a Plan!!

There are times in our life when we need to be motivated, here are some reminders from Marc Chernoff, author of the great book, Getting Back to Happy with his partner, Angel: Here’s the link.

1. You can press forward long after you can’t. It’s just a matter of wanting it bad enough.

2. Crying doesn’t indicate that you’re weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you’re alive and full of potential.

3. Give up worrying what others think of you. What they think isn’t important. What is important is how you feel about yourself.

4. If you awake every morning with the thought that something wonderful will happen in your life today and you pay close attention, you’ll often find you’re right.

5. You never know how strong you really are until being strong is the only choice you have.

6. A problem is a chance for you to learn.

7. You must see things how they are instead of how you hoped, wished or expected them to be.

8. Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Let it Go.

9. Tough times never last, but tough people do.

10. Not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

11. Giving up doesn’t always mean you’re weak, sometimes it means you are strong enough and smart enough to let go.

12. Mistakes teach you important lessons. Every time you make one, you’re one step closer to your goal. The only mistake that can truly hurt you is choosing to do nothing simply because you’re too scared to make a mistake.

13. If it’s out of your control why fret about it? Concentrating on things you can control is how you make good things happen.

14. If you keep doing what you’re doing, you’ll keep getting what you’re getting.

15. Don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines.

What has the world said over time to motivate itself, here are a few of my favourites:

mot1

1. The old imagine they are naked public speaking trick reversed because this time you are.

mot2

2. You come to that twin fork in the road, take the road less travelled: Hit the road, Jack.

mot3

3. If you are going to the gym to find it, turn around, it’s inside you, not in the weight room.

mot4

4. The comfort zone is the home of the lounge lizard, not Nobel prize winners: Out of Tower Song.

mot5

5. What did you discover after your worst fall?

mot6

6. Treat people how you wish them to treat you: Treat me like Somebody.

mot7

7. Live out your dreams, they are worth it.

mot8

8. One foot in front of each other still means you are on the path of fulfilling your dreams: One Foot.

moy9

9. Plan it, then allow for the time it will take.

mot10

10. John Michael Green is an American author, vlogger, producer, and educator. He won the 2006 Printz Award for his debut novel, Looking for Alaska, and his fourth solo novel, The Fault in Our Stars, debuted at number one on The New York Times Best Seller list in January 2012. The 2014 film adaptation opened at number one at the box office. In 2014, Green was included in Time magazine’s list of The 100 Most Influential People in the World. Another film based on a Green novel, Paper Towns, was released on July 24, 2015: It Hurts.

mot11

11. Jim Rohn points out sometimes we may have simply chosen the wrong path.

mot12

12. Just, because: Black Coffee.

mot13

13. Motivation 101.

mot14

14.  Makes me think of William Wallace and his wee band of men: Freedom Speech.

mot15

15. You can make an excuse and not do what it will take or you can travel forward towards what your dreams in life are.

So a few questions: What stands between you and happiness, Are you holding on to something you need to let go, What is the biggest challenge you face right now and finally, If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently.

The playlist today begins with Ray Charles as we hit the road, then we continue to the musical Tangled. Three newbies to me follow: Tink, Walk the Moon and Emeli Sande. Then the sultry Peggy Lee and we end with Mel Gibson aka William Wallace: You don’t always need a Plan.

To live my life from Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included does not always need a plan, just a way of being. Until we meet again my dear friends, let’s live a motivated life.

Don’t Tell Your Problems to Everyone!!

Today we look at things you would love to tell yourself if you could travel back in Time to give your younger self some advice about life.

I came across this great list by Marc Chernoff using my write about what’s on the page I open the book too. There are quite a few sage statements, here they are:

  1. Spend more time with those who make you smile and less time with those who you feel pressured to Impress.
  2. Your health is your life. Keep up with it. Get an annual physical check-up.
  3. Laugh at stupid jokes. Apologise. Tell someone how much they mean to you. It’s the small moments that make life good.
  4. Living a life of honesty creates peace of mind, and peace of mind is priceless. Period. Don’t be dishonest and don’t put up with people who are.
  5. Life is much more enjoyable when you stop trying to be cool and simply focus on being yourself.
  6. Forgiving yourself is far more important (and difficult) than getting others to forgive you.
  7. Complaining is like slapping yourself for slapping yourself. It doesn’t solve the problem, It just hurts you more.
  8. There are few joys in life that equal a good conversation, A good read, A good walk, A good hug, A good smile, A good friend.
  9. Learn to adjust the sails of your life to unpredictable winds, while keeping your focus clearly on your destination and keep sailing until you get there.
  10. Laughter is the best medicine for stress. Laugh at yourself often. Find the humour, In whatever situation you are in.
  11. Freedom is the greatest gift. Self-sufficiency is the greatest freedom.
  12. Everything that happens in life is neither good nor bad. It just depends on your perspective.
  13. If you want something in your life you’ve never had. You’ll have to do something you’ve never done before.
  14. You’re not alone. Everyone has problems. Some people are just better at hiding them than others.

So what has the world said about life’s lessons, here are a few of my favourites:

ll1

1. How did you cope with the focus when you finished the former and left the latter. Some say the first gives you no training to handle the latter.

ll2

2. Relating to your mistakes as what lesson am I meant to learn from this ILO what went wrong is the most powerful way to get the lesson provided: Not Afraid.

ll3

3. For me, it was the times I had to enter psychiatric clinics, five times, each time you lose total control of your life.

ll4

4. It just seems so natural when you meet both of these things like you have known them your whole life: True Friend.

ll5

5. From the world’s greatest philosopher, Ms Unknown comes this famous camera analogy.

ll6.jpeg

6. The cat in the hat is such a wise creature: Hop on Pop.

ll7

7. The Shadow and the Light, we need both to be a fulfilled human being.

ll8

8. I like the last line, learn from your mistakes, but never regret: No Regrets.

ll9.jpeg

9. Part of Self Love 101.

ll10

10. It’s time to leave when the last line starts happening: Don’t Hurt Me.

ll11

11. Love the go through to voicemail line.

ll12

12. WTF is a positive deviant?: My Passion.

ll13

13. Can’t have it be boring, can we?

ll14

14. On life’s journey, remember that word: Succession: Brave.

ll16

15. And for the final lesson, the picture says it all.

Some of us run in the middle of the night. Some of us strum acoustic guitars and smoke joints. And others go to church. Or sip expensive wine. Or surf dangerous waves. or jump out of perfectly good aeroplanes. When we try to understand other people by personally relating to the things that they do, we usually can’t make any sense of it. Because it’s easier to see weirdness in a sea of normality than it is to decode the logical methods behind one’s madness. But when we look just a little deeper, by making a noble effort to understand people by truly listening to why they do the things that they do, they never seem quite as weird. Actually, they and you begin to seem, perfectly normal.

Today’s playlist is for the kids with two animations. We begin with Eminem then transform Miley Cyrus into Hannah Montana. Dr Seuss leads off our animations, then back to the sixties for The Walker Brothers. Then DJ Mustard, followed by Akcent, and we finish off with Sara Bareilles: Don’t Tell Your Problems to Everyone.

I have one important life lesson to add to your lists: Show Love and Respect to All, Everyone Included until we meet again, my dear friends:

Julia's Love

Don’t Cut the Person to Fit the Cloth

I was in my local library returning my slightly overdue items when I saw it: The Book titled f**k it – DO WHAT YOU LOVE: Get it here, free shipping.

In this highly entertaining and motivational book, John sets out to prove that when we do what we love, we’re actually more likely to be happier, healthier, wealthier, and more successful. He addresses the significant blocks that people experience when they consider doing what they love, including: “Doing what you love is for time off, not work”, “Doing what I love would be selfish”, “I just don’t know what I love” and “I could never make a living from doing what I love”. Through no-nonsense ideas, fascinating facts and motivating calls to action, John brings us from pessimism to inspiration, so that our thoughts become powered by “F**k it, I can’t waste any more of my life”, “F**k it, I will find a way to make this work”, “F**k it, I will do what I love”.

So what is your Yes, But? here are the ones John collected from his research:

  1. Yes, but I’m afraid I’ll fail.
  2. Yes, but I don’t want to give up this lifestyle.
  3. Yes, but what about my responsibilities – my family, etc.
  4. Yes, but I’m scared I’ll embarrass myself.
  5. Yes, but no one can just do what they love – grow up.
  6. Yes, but I have no idea what I love.
  7. Yes, but what about money? My passion is acting.
  8. Yes, but I have to think about everyone else in my life.
  9. Yes, but what if doing what I love makes me sick.
  10. Yes, but what if no one wants the thing I love doing.
  11. Yes, but what if I do it and it doesn’t work out. I’ll have nothing left to dream of.
  12. Yes, but my parents won’t approve.
  13. Yes, but it’s hard to take a commercial or business approach to doing what I love.
  14. Yes, but I’m too old now.
  15. Yes, but I don’t deserve to do what I love.
  16. Yes, but what if I don’t make it work after giving up my safe, permanent job.
  17. Yes, but the idea of what I love changes and morphs all the time – like life.
  18. Yes, but what if I realize I don’t love it after all.
  19. Yes, but the people around me won’t like it.
  20. Yes, but I love lots of things, not just one.
  21. Yes, but I don’t want to do what I love for eight hours a day, because then I won’t love it anymore.
  22. Yes, but it’s selfish to do what you love.
  23. Yes, but I might find out that I’m not good at doing what I love.
  24. Yes, but work is meant to feel difficult; it’s not meant to feel like play.
  25. Yes, but I’d never want to work for myself.

Quite a comprehensive list as to why up to 70% of people answer they do not love their work.  Sometimes to Do What You Love, you have to say ‘no’ to lots of things that you’d quite like to do.

So how has society spoken about Yes, But over the years? This is what I found that to be:

yb1

1. She’s listening, all the time. Be careful what you say and think.

yb2

One of the worlds most noted Science Fiction and Fantasy writers, a 2009 profile in The New York Times Magazine described Vance as “one of American literature’s most distinctive and undervalued voices”. He died at his home in Oakland, California on May 26, 2013, aged 96: Cliff Jumping.

yb3

3. Another bride, Another June, Another sunny honeymoon, Another season, another reason, For makin’ Whoopee.

yb4

4. The ultimate Yes, But: Scared to Death.

yb5

5. Sort it out after, to live you must make mistakes.

yb6

6. When But can be a great thing: Discovery Channel Song.

yb7.jpeg

7. Beautiful things the But means you do not experience.

yb8

8. Imagine if the jazz greats had listened to their Buts: Red Clay.

yb9

9. No Buts, Thankyou.

yb10

10. Two Words, Barack Obama: Yes We Can.

yb11

11. Time for some Fun.

yb12

12. Named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the Top 10 Twitter Accounts Every Entrepreneur Should Be Following, Ali is an expert at taking away the buts: Vision of Love.

yb13

13. Great trumps good every time.

yb14

14. Is Maybe So the same as but?: Call Me Maybe.

yb15

15, What’s your answer to this final quote?

John says that real prioritizing needs to be laced with frequent ‘F**K Its’, so here we go: F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It, F**K It etc, etc.

Today’s playlist includes a POTUS. We begin with the alphabetized YT Vines and KZ Tandingan. Then an ad, The Discovery Channel Song, them some of my favourite style of music from Freddy Hubbard. The POTUS follows, then Mariah Carey and Carly Rae Jepsen finish off with some classic pop: Don’t Cut the Person to Fit the Cloth.

When It Hurts, Observe!!

Have you thought about what areas you have personally developed yourself in in 2018? For me, it has been in the areas of Expanding the Box of my Consciousness and Sexuality. Here are some statements about what may stop you from Personal Development by Marc Chernoff:

  1. The acquisition of knowledge doesn’t mean you’re growing.
  2. Growing happens when what you know changes how you live.
  3. It’s not so much about finding opportunities as it is about creating them.
  4. No matter How Smart You Are, You Will make Mistakes.
  5. A good idea without action is nothing at all.
  6. What we don’t start Today, Won’t be finished Tomorrow.
  7. If you keep doing what you’re doing, You’ll keep getting what you’re getting.
  8. There is a lesson in everything you do, and learning the lesson is how you move forward.
  9. The Harder you work, The luckier you will Become.
  10. Nobody succeeds all by themselves.
  11. Being busy and being productive are two different things.
  12. Being successful is a journey, not a destination.
  13. Tough Times don’t last, but Tough People do.
  14. Having a plan, Even a flawed one at first is better than no plan at all.
  15. It’s uncomfortable to challenge the Status Quo, But it’s worth it.
  16. Lots of successful people have failed as many times as they have succeeded.

I like the saying by Mae West: You Only Live Once, But If You Do It Right, Once Is Enough. Apologies to the Reincarnationists amongst my readers. Let’s have a look at how society views Personal Development:

pd1.jpeg

1. Open that heart up the whole way.

pd2

2. Remember you grow the longer you are on the journey: Don’t Look Back In Anger.

pd3

3. But remember to find others to play with.

pd4

4. Another way of saying it is get rid of these toxic people out of your life as soon as possible: One Day.

pd5.jpeg

5. And they say it in every language across the planet.

pd6

6. And what would a blog on Personal Development be without a little Brene Brown: I’m Not The Only One.

pd7

7. And from the man in the cardigan, comes the theory of madness.

pd8

8. And to do this we need to keep our eyes, mind and heart wide open at all times: Boo’d Up.

pd9.jpeg

9. And of course, we need some Steve Covey.

pd10

10. Time to put down that book you know so well, and start your brand new life: Feeling Good.

pd11

11. Smile for the camera, it can even be a selfie.

pd12.jpeg

12. Hermann Karl Hesse was a German-born poet, novelist, and painter. His best-known works include DemianSteppenwolfSiddhartha, and The Glass Bead Game, each of which explores an individual’s search for authenticity, self-knowledge and spirituality. In 1946, he received the Nobel Prize in Literature.: Be Yourself.

pd13

13. Herman was quite prolific on the subject.

pd14

14. Don’t try and logically make your development fit in, after all, it is your unique offering: The Eyes of Truth.

pd15

15. And here is an opportunity to take your own marriage vows.

If we can find the patience to see the world for what it is – dynamic, flexible and loaded with untapped potential – and if we can  accept the fact  that change is an inevitable and brilliant part of life, then we can partake in the thrill of progression, and help shape a world in which the impossible becomes possible.

Two oldies and quite a few people I have not heard of inhabit the Playlist today, we begin with Oasis, then Matisyahu. The crooner Sam Smith follows, then three new to me: Ella Mai, Avicii and Peruquios, finishing up with Enigma: When It Hurts, Observe!!

Just In Case You Need Reminding!!

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure,” says Marianne Williamson in a Return to Love. “It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so people won’t feel insecure around you. You were born to manifest the glory of God that is within you. It’s not just within some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.’

We live in a new age. It’s a time of opening up and of healing and growth. It’s not passive but it requires surrender – the surrender of our old egos and patterns. As Charles Dubois once said, “The important thing is to be able at any moment to sacrifice what you are for what you could become.”

Debbie Ford says in order to authentically love ourselves we have to embrace all of who we are, not just the dark but the light as well. And learning to recognize our own talents allows us to appreciate and love everyone else’s unique gifts.”

So here is Debbie’s remarkable exercise on this festive day:

‘Take a moment to quiet your mind. Take several, slow, deep breaths and slowly read through the list below. After looking at every word, say to yourself, ” I am _______,” for everyone. For example, I am healthy; I am beautiful; I am brilliant; I am talented; I am rich. Write down any word that you’re uncomfortable with, on a sheet of paper. Include words that represent things that you admire in someone else but don’t embrace in yourself.

Satisfied, secure, loved, inspiring, sensual, radiant, delicious, passionate, cheerful, joyful, sexy, forgiving, alive, fulfilled, energetic, confident, flexible, accepting, whole, healthy, talented, capable, wise, honoured, holy, empowering, embracing, divine, powerful, free, funny, knowledgeable, affluent, enlightened, realized, balanced, brilliant, successful, worthy, open, compassionate, strong , creative, peaceful, fair, famous, disciplined, responsible, happy, pretty, desirable, blissful, enthusiastic, courageous, precious, fortunate, mature, artistic, vulnerable, radiant, conscious, faithful, magnificent, cosmic, attractive, complete, centred, cherished, romantic, warm-hearted, lucky, assertive, thankful, gentle, quiet, full, soft, wanted, extravagant, decisive, juicy, tender, willing, timely, irresistible. generous, beautiful, calm, carefree, easy going, patient, non-judgemental, cool, thoughtful, spiritual, loyal, connected, articulate, spontaneous, organized, reasonable, humorous, acknowledged, content, adored, playful, clean, fruitful, punctual, fun, understanding, self-assured, dedicated, optimistic, forward, intelligent, credible, active, glamorous, fearless, vivacious, warm, focused, innovative, nurturing, superstar, wonderful, leader, solid, champion, rich, choice-maker, simple, genuine, giving, assertive, adorned, prolific,  productive, bold, sensitive.

Debbie says we all possess all of these qualities. All you have to do to manifest them is unconceal, own and embrace each one. So how does the world relate to being magnificent, let’s have a look:

mag1

1. Steve Maraboli has created, contributed to, and impacted Humanitarian, Education, and Empowerment programs in 40 countries. Steve is a recipient of the prestigious United Nations Award for Philanthropy and continues to serve in support of Global Literacy and Education.

2. Find the others who can see it: You are so Beautiful to Me.

mag3

3. Time to walk tall.

mag4

4. You, Yes, You: Magnificence.

mag5

5. Mini practice, I am _______.

mag6

6. Shadow and Light, they travel together: All of Me.

mag7

7. I honour your uniqueness.

mag8

8. Double it, there you go: Brave.

mag9

9. Self Explanatory.

mag10

10. As an artist, Rudy Francisco is an amalgamation of social critique, introspection, honesty and humour. He uses personal narratives to discuss the politics of race, class, gender and religion while simultaneously pinpointing and reinforcing the interconnected nature of human existence: Love Poem.

mag11

11. From the worlds most famous quoter, Ms. Unknown, what you give and get by receiving from others.

mag12.jpeg

12. I’m thinking of a very daggy song: Born to be Alive.

mag13

13. Not by Helen Keller, but it could be.

mag14

14. I saw my friend Leela yesterday, who has the prettiest smile in our community yesterday, it always makes my heart sing: Make me Smile.

mag15

15, And to finish, this beautiful ode to you.

We are taught not to acknowledge our greatness. Most of us believe we possess some positive traits but not others. But we are all things: those that make us laugh as well as those that make us cry. We are every beautiful and ugly trait rolled into one. It is time to manifest all of your qualities. When you can own your entire list you will truly be in the presence of your version of God.

I think I have kept the best playlist for this festive day. We begin with Joe Cocker, then Miten and Deva, John Legend and I snuck in one Pop diva, Sara Bareilles. Then a beautiful spoken word ode from Rudy Francisco. We go back in time to finish with Patrick Hernandez and Steve Harley, enjoy: Just In Case You Need Reminding!!

Every Moment is an Opportunity!!

My new friend Rick is a big fan of Dan Millman. I must admit I have not read much of his work since Way of the Peaceful Warrior so I decided to check out what he had done since then.  I took a fancy to Everyday Enlightenment – The Twelve Gateways to Personal Growth. The Gateways are as follows:

  1. Discover Your Worth.
  2. Reclaim Your Will.
  3. Energize Your Body.
  4. Manage Your Money.
  5. Tame Your Mind.
  6. Trust Your Intuition.
  7. Accept Your Emotions.
  8. Face Your Fears.
  9. Illuminate Your Shadows.
  10. Embrace Your Sexuality.
  11. Awaken Your Heart.
  12. Serve Your World.

A great list to live a worthwhile life from. Dan speak about enlightenment as follows:

“When people ask me abstract questions about time, or space, or reincarnation, I may respond by asking whether they exercise regularly, eat a wholesome diet, get enough sleep, show kindness to others, and remember to take a slow, deep breath on occasion—because it seems important to bring our spiritual quest down to earth. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with philosophical speculation. But let’s not mistake conceptual thought for the spiritual practice of everyday life. After all, what does it serve to know whether angels wear earrings if we can’t hold a regular job or maintain a long-term relationship? What good does it do to pray like a saint or meditate like a yogi if we are unchanged when we open our eyes? What good to attend a place of worship on Saturday or Sunday if we lack compassion on Monday?”

So how do you how enlightenment, do you think you will ever get there? So very wise people have the following to say about it:

everyday1

1. Mr Nature, David Suzuki says you can pick them because they walk above the ground, would certainly save on footwear.

everyday2

2. I also love Pema’s stuff on compassion: Explaining Maitri.

everyday3.jpeg

3. I have had this quote in my altar for over 10 years.

everyday4

4. Love this take on the Noble Eightfold Path, the crux of Buddhism: Alan Watts take at It.

everyday5

5. Lao Tzu places it right at the feet of Self Love.

everyday6

6. And here are my two favourite symptoms of Enlightenment from Deepak Chopra: Miracles.

everyday7.jpeg

7. Thích Nhất Hạnh born as Nguyễn Xuân Bảo on October 11, 1926, is a Vietnamese Buddhist monk and peace activist, founder of the Plum Village Tradition. He is known for his universal stand for world peace.

everyday8

8. Each day we get a new opportunity at it: A New Day Has Come.

everyday10

9. As that famous quote says, Before Enlightenment – Chop Wood, Stack Wood. After Enlightenment – Chop Wood, Stack Wood.

everyday11

10. A gentle reminder that you cannot get Enlightenment from others, it is a personal journey: Happy.

everyday12

11. More wisdom from Thich.

everyday13

12. Permanent and Unbreakable, real and present, still working on it: A Thousand Years.

everyday14

13. Well, Are You?

everyday15

14. Think Gandhi, MLK, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, even the author of this quote: One Tribe.

everyday16

15. And from the man who sat under the Bodhi tree and became the Buddha, a reminder what can make the journey so difficult.

I love what Dan says about Self-worth: Self-worth is not a thing; it is a perception. Just as a gymnast begins a routine with ten points and receives deductions for each mistake, so you began life with a natural, complete sense of worth. (Have you ever met an infant with self-worth issues?) But as you grow, you serve as your own judge, deducting points when you misunderstand the nature of living and learning—when you forget you are a human-in-training and that making mistakes and having slips of integrity and mediocre moments are a part of life, not unforgivable sins.”

If we agreed to give this up, our journey to enlightenment would be a much less perilous journey.

Today’s playlist begins with some wisdom and then tunes. Pema Chodron, Alan Watts and Deepak Chopra lead off with some wise words. Celine Dion, Pharrell Williams and Christina Perri follow with some beautiful tunes of possibility and we finish with Black Eyed Peas anthem to humanity, Enjoy: Every Moment is an Opportunity.

Yes, Life is Tough but You are Tougher!!

Nobody gets through life without losing someone they love, someone they need, or something they thought was meant to be. But it is these losses that make us stronger and eventually move us toward future opportunities for growth and happiness.

I really like Marc Chernoff’s list: 40 lessons for finding strength in hard times, here they are:

  1. You are not what happened to you in the past.
  2. Focus on what you have, not on what you haven’t.
  3. Struggling with problems is a natural way of growing.
  4. It’s okay to fall apart for a little while.
  5. Life is fragile, sudden,  and shorter than it often seems.
  6. You will fail sometimes.
  7. You have the capacity to create your own happiness.
  8. Emotionally separate yourself from your problems.
  9. Don’t make a problem bigger than it is.
  10. Everything that happened is a life lesson.
  11. View every challenge as an educational assignment.
  12. Things change, but the sun always rises the next day.
  13. Giving up and moving on are two very different things.
  14. Distance yourself from negative people.
  15. Perfect relationships don’t exist.
  16. You must love yourself too.
  17. Don’t let others make decisions for you.
  18. Resentment hurts you, not them.
  19. You’re not alone. Everyone has problems.
  20. You still have a lot to be thankful for.
  21. Consciously nurture your inner hope.
  22. It’s better to be hurt by the truth than comforted by a lie.
  23. It’s hard to tell how close you are to success.
  24. Not getting what you want can be a blessing.
  25. Laughter is the best medicine to stress.
  26. Mistakes are important to make.
  27. Worrying is literally a waste of energy.
  28. Even when it’s hard to move, take small steps forward.
  29. There will always be people who dislike you.
  30. You are better off without some people you thought you needed.
  31. You can’t control everything that happens to you.
  32. You are only competing against yourself.
  33. Life is not Easy.
  34. Your future is spotless.
  35. You are not trapped; you just need to re-learn a few things.
  36. Everything in life is two-sided.
  37. You always have a choice.
  38. Let others in when you’re in a dark place.
  39. If you ask negative questions, you will get negative answers.
  40. The end is a new beginning.

How does the world recommend you move forward in hard times, let’s take that journey:

is1

1. The answers are not out there, you are looking in the wrong place if you are seeking the solution from others.

is2

2. Love truthfully and unconditionally, a worthwhile life to lead: Soul Kinda Feeling.

is3

3. I survived after five years of mental health crises, that was my true inner strength speaking.

is4

4. And then there are times you use your inner strength in service of others: Praise You.

is5

5. From the founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund points us towards where our strengths come from.

is6

6. You are the creation of your experiences: You Get What You Give.

is7

7. And then there is meditation.

is8

8. And then your Inner Pilot Light is always on your side: Don’t Stop Believing.

is9

9. My friend Em took me in my troubled waters recently, my trust in myself was totally cleansed.

is10

10, And from a singer of both types of music, Sara Evans points out from little things, big things can grow: A Little Bit Stronger.

is11

11. Nothing, Nada, Nil.

is12

12. My 2019 set out for me: Small Stuff.

is13

13. All champions know it is not the destination but the inner journey that is the more important to achieving the final result.

is14

14. How much dust have you shaken off recently: Shake It Off.

is15

15. And some advice from Yoda: May the Force be With You. Some days are harder than others to locate it.

So, say to yourself: “Dear Past, thank you for all the life lessons you have taught me. Dear Future, I am ready now!” Because a great beginning always occurs at the point you thought would be the end of everything.

Not many divas on the playlist today, mainly rock and both types of music, country and western. We rock it through the first four artists with Dynamic Hepnotics, Fatboy Slim, The New Radicals and Journey. Then Sara Evans and Alabama provide both types and we complete with Taylor Swift: Yes, Life is Tough, But You are Tougher.

So today, show Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included to your beloveds until we meet again, my dear friends.

All Good is Hard, All Evil is Easy.

Today is a follow up on habits via Marc and Angel Chernoff’s excellent book: 1000+ Little Thing Happy Successful People Do Differently: Marc and Angel Hack Life. Using my write about the page you open up to formulae, we come to 30 Challenges for 30 Days of Growth.

The chapter begins with the following statement: Scientists have suggested that, with a little willpower, it takes roughly 30 days for a person to form a new habit. As with mastering anything new, the act of starting and getting beyond the preliminary stage where everything feels awkward is 80% of the battle. This is precisely why it’s important to make small positive changes every day over the course of at least a 30-day challenge.

Marc then offers you 30 suggestions, here they are:

  1. Use words that encourage happiness
  2. Try one new thing every day.
  3. Perform one selfless act every day.
  4. Learn and practice one new skill every day.
  5. Teach someone something new every day.
  6. Dedicate an hour a day to something you are passionate about.
  7. Treat everyone nicely, even those who are rude to you.
  8. Concentrate on being positive at all times.
  9. Address and acknowledge the lesson in inconvenient situations.
  10. Pay attention and enjoy your life as it happens.
  11. Get rid of one thing a day for 30 days.
  12. Create something brand new in less than 30 days.
  13. Don’t tell a single lie for 30 days.
  14. Wake up 30 minutes early every morning.
  15. Ditch 3 bad habits for 30 days.
  16. Watch less than 30 minutes of TV every day.
  17. Define one long-term goal and work on it for an hour every day.
  18. Read one chapter of a good book every day.
  19. Every morning, watch or read something that inspires you.
  20. Do something every day after lunch that makes you laugh.
  21. Go alcohol and drug-free for 30 days.
  22. Exercise for 30 minutes every day for 30 days.
  23. Get uncomfortable and face a fear every day.
  24. Cook one brand new healthy recipe every day.
  25. Spend 10 minutes every evening reflecting on what went well.
  26. Have a conversation every day with someone you rarely do.
  27. Pay down debt and don’t create any new debt for 30 days.
  28. Let go of one relationship that constantly hurts you.
  29. Publicly forgive someone who deserves another chance.
  30. Document every day with one photograph and one paragraph.

We often use the excuse that I don’t know where to begin, what does society say about that: let’s have a look:

chall1

1. Recently I walked across 8 Km of beach rocks, I have no sense of balance, I definitely grew from this situation.

chall2

2. The challenges begin within, after all, you made them a challenge: This Time.

chall3

3. The picture says it all.

chall4

4. Ralph puts it in your face why we challenge ourselves: Growth.

chall5

5. To spell words correctly.

chall6

6. In your challenges lie all your meaningful accomplishments: One Life.

chall7

7. One small step forward a day is all it takes.

chall8

8. Your Gut Feelings, that is what you want to know, stop ignoring them: Gut Feeling.

chall9

9. I think Ralph should be talking to his lawyers about the origin of Gail’s quote.

chall10

10. It’s really saying shake off the limits, isn’t it.: No Limit.

chall11

11. Stop playing small!!

chall12

12. Marlen Esparza is an American boxer. In May 2012, she qualified to compete at the 2012 Olympics, becoming the first American woman to qualify for the Olympics in the first year that women’s boxing was an Olympic event. She won the bronze medal in the women’s flyweight division at the 2012 Olympics in London: You Can Do It.

chall13

13. Me, Myself, I: Challenge them all.

chall14

14. Set your controls for the heart of the Sun: Chandelier.

chall15

15. And some worldly advice from big Tone to finish.

You can’t do all these challenges at once, but they will make for an inspired 2019. As you progress through these challenges remember personal growth is a slow, steady process. It can’t be rushed. You need to work on it gradually every day. There is ample time for you to be who you want to be in life. Don’t settle for less than what you think you deserve or less than you know you can be. Despite the struggles, you will face along the way, never give up on yourself. You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and twice as capable as you have ever imagined.

Today’s playlist lies in the Hip Hop stadium with three offerings. We begin with Pia Toscano, then enter the stadium with Offset. Rock offerings from Boyce Avenue and Devo follow. Usher and Ice Cube make their entry and we complete with Australia’s own Sia: All Good is Hard, All Evil is Easy.

Remember to show Love and Respect to All, Everyone Included until we meet again, my dear friends:
