We would astound Ourselves!!

Are you doing what you are uniquely capable of, What you Feel you were placed Here on Earth to Do? Can you be replaced?

People often think its about the money, If I do that I will answer my abundance prayer. But a great place to look is, are you interchangeable, are you using your unique abilities that make you the special one. Tim Ferriss uses a philosophy of ,Am I saying Hell Yeah about something: If not he says no. In the  Konmari decluttering method the only things that survive are those that bring you joy, so what is your unique gift to the world:

unique1

1. So, So, So, So, So, So…..Got the message?

unique2

2. Across the world, each culture has its own definition of beautiful, you fir in somewhere: Perfect.

unique3

3. In an interview with comedian Paul Mecurio, Tyson offered his definition of spirituality: “For me, when I say spiritual, I’m referring to a feeling you would have that connects you to the universe in a way that it may defy simple vocabulary. We think about the universe as an intellectual playground, which it surely is, but the moment you learn something that touches an emotion rather than just something intellectual, I would call that a spiritual encounter with the universe.” Tyson has argued that many great historical scientists’ belief in intelligent design limited their scientific inquiries, to the detriment of the advance of scientific knowledge.

unique4

4. I was watching the TV doco series the 1990’s about technology when browsers where first developed for the internet, before that it has been the playground of scientific nerds, that is less that 30 years ago. People did not usedto wake up and check their Iphones, amazing: Never Be Like You.

unique5

5. All their fantasies, talk to them like they are real, why can’t they be Ed Sheeran or Adele.

unique6

6. Remember, they chose you because they knew you were the right ones to prepare them for their unique bright future: Everyone is Different!!

unique7

7. To learn what you’re best at, or what you’re most passionate about, you have to throw a lot against the wall.

Unique8

8. That which is not, can you imagine that?,or what they are singing about in this song: Being Kind.

unique9

9. The more we walk towards community, the more powerful our uniqueness becomes as we play our unique role in creatig it, without the I.

unique10

10. One of the more stranger things I have read of HHDL: Problem.

unique11

11. What is the definition of Unique, anyway:

u·nique

/yo͞oˈnēk/

noun

  • 1. a unique person or thing.

adjective

  • 1. being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else: “the situation was unique in modern politics” synonyms: distinctive, distinct, individual, special, idiosyncratic, single, sole, lone, unrepeated, unrepeatable, solitary, exclusive, rare, uncommon, unusual, sui generis, one-off, one-of-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime, one-shot

unique12

12. This would make a great mantra to repeat everyday: Whole Lotta Love.

unique13

13. Turn the tap off!!

unique14

14. This is why I have such respect for true teachers, their ability to send each student home with their sense of uniqueness intact is amazing: Believing In Me.

unique15

15. I came across that quote the other day about having the same 24 hours as HHDL, Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Malala. It lies on the other side of fear.

So in seeking your uniqueness what blessings have becomes excesses. In excess, most thingstake on the characteristic of their opposite. Pacifists become miltants, freedom fighters become tyrants, Blessings become curses, Help becomes hndrances. More becomes Less. In the midst of overwhelm, is life not showing me exactly what I should subtact, Am I having a breakdown or a breakthrough. Being unique takes work and it is easy to become complacent.

The music today is two kids songs, a 70’s classic from Led Zep and a tribute to  my dad and sister Ruth.

Namste until next time my dear friends.

A messy house is a Must!!

Todays title comes from the quote A Messy house is a must – It separates your true friends from other friends – Real friends are there to visit you, not your house. Is that a fair statement? Today we look at fairness, I am reading an interesting tome called Just Babies – The Origins of Good and Evil.

Chapter three: Fairness, Status and Punishment begin with the following tale: The comedian Louis C. K. has a routine in which he talks about his daughter’s understanding of fairness. He begins, “My five-year-old, the other day, one of her toys broke, and she demanded that I break her sister’s toy to make it fair.” This would make the sisters equal, but the joke is that something here didn’t feel right: “And I did. I was like crying. And I look at her. She’s got this creepy smile on her face.”

So the books premise is that in our early years we follow an equality bias from an early age and it gets trained out of us as we enter the education system where being the best and winning take over.

So where does the world sit for you in the fairness stakes, let’s take a walk:

Fair1

1. Fairness does not mean ease of journey, never give up your belief in the fairness of something because it does not work out immediately.

Fair2

2. No judgements allowed: Raindrops keep falling on my Head.

fair3

3. From birth to age 5, a child’s brain develops more, and more rapidly, than at any other time in life. And while genetics plays a significant role, scientific research has made clear that the quality of a child’s experiences in the first few years of life – positive or negative – helps shape how their brain develops. And that these experiences have lasting impact on their health and ability to learn and succeed in school and in life.

fair4

4. America’s only Armenian sci writer who emigrated at the age of eight with her parents and two suitcases knows the value of self love: Imagine.

fair5

5. The Universe is here to take you on your life’s journey, some parts of it are different from what our mind thinks that journey is.

fair6

6. Brit Hume is one of the longest serving Journo’s in Washington Perhaps he made this statement about Donald Trump following some of the decisions he has made lately: Dance me to the End of Love.

fair7

7. It would be beautiful if all religious organisations followed this creed. Unfortunately some of them seem to have forgotten the reason their founders set up their belief systems.

fair8

8. I am not saying fairness is all light and bubbles, somedays fairness will feel like this: A Little Bit Stronger.

fair9

9. Integrity – The state of being whole and Undivided. I work on this, It’s hard to do 24/7.

fair10

10. As the stoury form Louise C. K. about his daughter points out, It’s not about equality, it’s about whats needed in each particular scenario: Forever.

fair11

11. There are many diverse opinions on this from the left and the right, from what they write about it I think it is an agree to disagree argument.

fair12

12. Fairness is listening to both sides and not giving more kudos to either without seriously checking it out: Two sides to every Story.

fair13.jpg

13. Fairness is not a two way journey, If you don’t recieve it, It doesn’t mean you stop providing it. You may drop that relationship, but don’t give up your values.

fair14

14. The expression that says it forme, is Pay it Forward. Not what you say, what you do: Hello In There.

fair15

15. From one of the great men who sought fairness for his people, a piece of timely advice how you achieve fairness.

I think we all have a sense of what fairness is as children but can have it changed quite dramatically by parental influence and incidents that happen in our lives. Remember we all come out with a fresh soul, let’s return to that space when it comes to our sense of fairness.

Music for today isBurt Bacharach, John Lennon and a rap number for my nephew and his wife.

Fill your Heart with what is Important!!

“I love, accept, and express that I fill myself first so I can heal the world.”  This is the affirmation Steve Sisgold of Whole Body Intelligence,His website got Lissa Rankin to use when she realised her belief system was the following: “You’re selfish and narcisstic if you take care of yourself first. You have no value unless you’re helping others. Your blog audience won’t love you anymore unless you give until you’re depleted. Your mother won’t love you anymore, either.”

This made my stomach turn as I was reading the secind statement, I think it covers some of my beliefs pretty well. Here is the Hero’s practice called Check Your Motives from Lissa’s book an Anatomy of a Calling:

Check Your Motives:

The next time you consider being helpful ir saying yes to service, pause. Get quiet, and ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?” Are you afraid of disappointing someone if you say no? Are you motivated by pity or fear? Will you fear like, “not enough” if you don’t do  it? Are you trying to impress someone? Does it exhaust you to even think about saying yes? If any of these feel true, graciously say no to the opportunity to serve, knowing that you are not just filling yourself first but also protecting yourself from getting caught in a Rescuer/Victim/Persecutor triad, which will lead you to inadvertantly hurt yourself and others.

If, however, you are motivated by surges of love – which generate the impulse to leap out of your chair and say yes, free of any hidden language – go for it! If you’re so far down the spiritual path that there is little “self” to self-sacrifice and you are full to the brim with the desire fir pure service, knowing how fulfilling it is to serve in a clean way, say yes.

Practice this exercise every time you are inclined to serve. This will help you learn to be very discerning about your relationship to service and those you serve, and as a result, you will not only avoid depleting yourself but also expand your capacity for fulfillment and joy.

So how does the world relate to filling ones self up before others, It should be an  interesting journey:

fill1

1. Once you are a bunch of smouldering ashes you are not much use to anyone.

fill2

2. It’s never to late to write your bestseller, that one you don’t tell others about: Your Song.

fill3

3. This is the number one way to stoppbecoming depleted in your life.

fill4

4. The more energy you have and that you shine on the world the more you can give to it: I Gotta Feeling.

fill5

5. The more you hide who you really are, the more harm can be done to you and by you.

fill6

6. From one of TV”s favourite fictional characters comes some practical wisdom about filling yourself first: Love Myself.

fill7.jpg

7. Ask yourself before you say Yes, What would Love Do in this situation?

fill8

8. Heed the warming, rehydrate your soul when it needs it: Take care of Yourself.

fill9

9. Manifexting with Marla, catchy name for a great piece of advice.

fill10

10. Deepak’s friend Oprah has this to say about this , in a much more pragmatic way: When you undervalue what you do, the world will undervalue who you are:Give it UP to Me.

fill12

11. Remember, to help with human rights, yours must be included amongst them.

fill13

12. Might fine advice, R.Z., will help keep one out of the Rescuer/Victim/Persecutor triad: Put a little Love in your Heart.

fill14

13. Remember to complete your Hero’s Journey, not everyone or everything will make ot to the end.

fill15

14. Here in Australia, we have a condition called the tall poppy syndrome. It’s very dangerous for the future of our country: That’s What I Like.

fill16

15. That deep satisfaction has to exist within your soul before there is any chance of another giving it to you.

When you’re motivated by the soul’s yearning rather than the ego’s “not enoughness” giving to others feeds you. Service can be like breathing. You give on the exhale, but the giving itself breathers life into you and you are nourished by the giving. So remember to do the exercise so that you are chosing from love and not depleting your life-force.

Music this week includes Annie Lennox, Al Green and Shakita. Enjoy!!

Face your Fears, and Wipe your Tears!!

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, “Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.” : Martin Luther King

There’s something precious and unique about each and everyone of us. We are all worthy human beings; we are all smart and capable of achieving many inspiring and wonderful acts. You came here to perform a very important role, and who you are matters.

The world needs all of us, so let’s have a look at what  we have said over the generations about living a  life that matters:

matters1

1. Looking for someone else to provide this within you heart will not work if you are not there as well.

matters2

2. Jon Freeman studies split second social perception – how we use facial cues to categorize other people into social groups and perceive their personality traits and emotion. This makes is so important that we have a  healthy self image as in these days of this style of perception we don’t get much time from others: You matter to Me.

matters3

3. Remember, it’s not what people say, it’s in their actions.

matters4

4. In the end it’s what you think about yourself that counts. What others thinks is their personal perception: Perfect.

matters5

5. We don’t tend to remember the church or the valley we walked through, It’s the people we were with that counts.

matters6

6. My friend Emeli rescued a woman from an abusive situation because she cared, she met her on the side of the road when she had given up. Where in you life have you done something similar by caring, giving a shit: Chasing Cars.

matters7

7. Giving for giving sake, what would you do in life that you don’t need to be paid for.

matters8

8. If we only remembered these deep lessons we read in the books of our younger years. Dr Seuss provided one here: Need you Now.

matters9

9. The way through those experiences is not to wish they would go away, It is to enter them and accept they happened and have the control they have over you lessen.

matters10

10. When you get up in the morning, look in the mirror and say, I’m allowed and I matter: Welcome Back.

matters11

11. Another piece to this puzzle is why are you who you are, what do you jump out of bed in the morning for. If you get a chance watch Simon Sinek’s brilliant TED talk on the subject of Why.

matters12

12. Over our lives people move in and out of them, don’t stay too long if you are no longer a match: Time to Leave.

matters13

13. William James was one of the leading thinkers of the late nineteenth century and is believed by many to be one of the most influential philosophers the United States has ever produced, while others have labeled him the “Father of American psychology”.

matters14

14. Simple Acts of Kindness: Good People.

matters15

15. And a final message from the lorax – care a whole awful lot, you matter.

We all have something to contribute to life. If we cling to our fears and doubts our part of the puzzle will never be complete. Remember look in the mirror – I’m Allowed and what I do matters.

It will reflect in your Face!!

Was going to do another of the 15 things you should give up to be happy today, but picked up the Anatomy of a Calling by another of my faves, Lissa Rankin MD : Check it out here. I opened it to page 120, which had the new questions Lissa was asking her patients after she had realised  medicine wasn’t about 15 minute interviews and doling out medications. Here is the list:

  1. Do you feel lonely, isolated, misunderstood, or disconnected?
  2. If you could break any rule without consequences, what rule would you break?
  3. Are you in a romantic relationship, and if so, are you happy? If not, do you wish you were?
  4. Do you feel like you are in touch with your life’s purpose, fulfilling your divine assignment here on this planet?
  5. Do you feel stressed about money?
  6. Do you feel spiritually connected?
  7. Do you feel free to be your authentic self?

At the moment the one that is a bit out of place for me is question six, do you feel spiritually connected, so that is our subject for today:

spirit1

1. See that is says We are Love, not they are Love. Hard to remember at times.

spirit2

2. I feel I met one of these people recently. I forget to inhale when I am near her: Soul Kind of Feeling.

spiritt3

3. We are magnificent and broken all at the same time, we need to journey through both to contact our soul, it is made up of everything.

spiritt4

4. It’s not often you look across a room and go, wow, what a great mind, yet it is that and their heart that will keep the relationship going: Just the Two of Us.

spiritt5.jpeg

5. Contentious statement, but where else can you be?

spiritt6

6. I brought a book of poetry written by a man who spent a year living in Wild Dog Valley. It is compared to David Whyte, Mary Oliver and John O’Donoghue. Each poem is a powerful vignette, the name: Lucid Nature by Sean O’Carroll: Human Behaviour.

spiritt7

7. Time for a biography as I have no clue who Elizabeth Lesser is, let’s have a look: ELIZABETH LESSER is a bestselling author and the cofounder of Omega Institute, the renowned conference and retreat center located in Rhinebeck, New York. Elizabeth’s first book, The Seeker’s Guide, chronicles her years at Omega and distills lessons learned into a potent guide for growth and healing.

spiritt8

8. Two of my dear friends, Denise and Ed have many of their ex students as Facebook friends. I think thats because they did this , not told them what to learn: That’s what I like.

spiritt9

9. We all want to be love, but have to remember our picture of love is different to every other individual on the planet.

spiritt10

10. What music is on your favourite Spotify playlist: Flash Mob, Ode to Joy.

spiritt11

11. Buddha lived in a time of overt sexism, I sure he meant women as well.

spiritt12

12. I have doubts about people who go away for a week, a month even a year who come back and pass themselves off as spiritual guru’s, it’s for at least a lifetime: Lord Shiva.

spiritt13

13. That thought that keeps returning, It does it for a purpose, when we learn what we have to it will disappear.

spiritt14

14, Amanda Palmer, The Art of Asking, TED talk, what else could this bring to mind: Here it is.

spiritt15.jpg

15. I would call this two souls meeting and creating a very spiritual moment.

Lissa’s new patient intake form was 12 pages long, she says the two most illuminating questions she asked were:

  1. What is your body saying no to?
  2. What does your body need in order to heal?

I think we need to heal our spiritual connection as a priority, writing this has helped me do that.

The music is great, one of the great Australian tracks Soul Kind of Feelings, Lord Shiva anthem, an amazing flash mob version of Ode to Joy, Bjork and the amazing the Art of Asking TED talk by Amanda Palmer.

I’m going to see the World!!

How do you see the world? Gabrielle Bernstein says you can change the way through the statement – When i lean on certainty and faith I change my mind about the World I See. What does she  mean by this statement? Is it that when you believe in what you believe in you do not have to fall for what mainstream media is trying to push down your throat what you are meant to believe about what goes on day to day.

Let’s have a look at ways to do this, there are many:

world1

1. Do you open up your creativity to see the many different ways that it permits you to relate to the extraordinary journey that our lives are.

world2

2. I recently learnt that I had very western values about the Chinese culture when I became an English tutor for three Chinese mothers. I learnt as much each lesson about China as they did about the English language each lesson. It’s a great way to find out how sheltered how you see the world is: Curious.

world3

3. I watched a documentary about Romania, the host was appearing on a fashion reality show as thousands of people were protesting on the streets because the government were trying to legitimise corruption.

world4

4. How much do we owe to the photographers that travel the world and capture the images that make us go : I’ve never thought that way about that place. Alex Sattler is one of them: Photograph.

world5

5. I Think Maya is giving permission to young women to listen to their hearts and not what the fashion magazines tell them is their role in life with this statement.

world6

6. Dali and Picasso see the world very differently to a landscape or portrait artist. Yet each is revealing his soul on the canvas: Art for Arts Sake.

world7

7. I was in Leningrad the year before the Berlin Wall came down and Communism ended in the Soviet Union, the people we meant said they loved Russia, but they just made a mistake 70 years ago, Now known as St. Petersburg, it is a beautiful city.

world8

8. My sister takes thousands of photo’s when she travels the world, I don’t think one of them is of the local airport: Leaving on a Jet Plane.

world9

9. You don’t need to leave your lounge room, to have these if you are , curious that is. Although I imagine that will not be the case.

world10

10. Shaw’s expressed views were often contentious; he promoted eugenics and alphabet reform, and opposed vaccination and organised religion. He courted unpopularity by denouncing both sides in the First World War as equally culpable, He really meant keep yourself clean and bright: Windows of the World.

world11

11. How would life be, if this statement was true for each of us every day.

world12

12. The general theme of Rumi’s thought, like that of other mystic and Sufi poets of Persian literature, is that of tawhid — union with the Beloved, from whom he sees himself as being cut off and aloof. His longing and desire to attain it is evident in the following poem from his book the Masnavi:

I died to the mineral state and became a plant,
I died to the vegetable state and reached animality,
I died to the animal state and became a man,
Then what should I fear? I have never become less from dying.
At the next charge (forward) I will die to human nature,
So that I may lift up (my) head and wings (and soar) among the angels,
And I must (also) jump from the river of (the state of) the angel,
Everything perishes except His Face,
Once again I will become sacrificed from (the state of) the angel,
I will become that which cannot come into the imagination,
Then I will become non-existent; non-existence says to me (in tones) like an organ,
Truly, to Him is our return: Rumi, The Beloved.

world13

13. So are our opinions of people, as this is what we see people doing.

world14

14. The Chinese certainly have some quirky quotes, but they always hit home: Plant more Trees.

world15

15. So, remember to be curious and question what you think you can see or are told about our beautiful planet, or the above statement may be true.

We have the opportunity each day to do something about the planet, is it because we do not have the faith and certainty that what we believe is worthwhile or is necessarily true. It’s time to stand up for it.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

Everyone’s True Colours Show Eventually

Our thoughts create our emotions and our emotions create our realities… Observe your thoughts, Just for Today. Observe your thoughts free of any judgements, just allow them to come through as they are. If you notice any negative thoughts appearing that’s excellent, now you have the ability to change them, now change them.

We have 10-17 magical seconds to flip our thoughts into positive ones before the negative thought manifests. Yes, you are that powerful. Continue, reminding yourself to observe your thoughts, with zero judgement, for as long as you can. This practice session is now complete.

We have a lot of 10-17 second moments in our lives where we do not choose or have the emotional ability to swap from negative to positive, why is this so. Let’s have a look at how life has looked at the moment of observing our thoughts:

thoughts1

1. It’s in the actions we create our future life, thoughts are just passing through. it’s what we do that puts it in concrete.

thoughts2

2. The art of mindfulness, the ability to observe, not be driven by the chaos of our mind was the greatest gift given to the west by the great meditation masters of the east: That I would Be Good.

thoughts3

3. One of the great gifts Lao Tzu gave to the world.

thoughts4

4. My friend and mentor Arion talks about living life at 50 litres or 1,000 litres. Who do you surround yourself with in life: Believe.

thoughts5

5. That mind is a tricky beast, isn’t it. It seems to have a mind of it’s own, we wouldn’t have those thoughts, would we?

thoughts6

6. It’s time to eat: The Simpsons or Shakespeare, bitching or praising your friends magnificence, you choose: Halo.

thoughts7

7. The cost of extreme vulnerability, some friends might just not get it.

thoughts8

8. Eckhardt titled his book about this subject, The Power of Now: Human.

thoughts9

9. The purpose of thinking and thought, to feel our passions that move us towards our dreams.

thoughts10

10. To break free of the control of thoughts, like , I need another drink, a block of chocolate would be good right now is one journey worth going on: Morning Meditation.

thoughts11

11. And what Deepak is doing in the video gives you the ability to be totally responsible, Yay!!!

thoughts12

12. Would you let your best friend have those thoughts or be at the influence of them for any length of time?: Best Friendship Song Ever.

thoughts13

13. It’s those moments in between the thoughts that hold the magic, remember to look for them each day.

thoughts14

14. A little bit more of wisdom from Siddhārtha Gautama AKA The Buddha. That world out there, you made it up: Sweet Dreams are made of This.

thoughts15

15. And waiting in the background, for you to get better at observing your thoughts, is your sweet, sweet heart.

So I am calling for you to take on a daily practice which will give you the ability to observe your thoughts, not be observed and controlled by them, have fun taking it on.

Musically today we swing from Bruno mars to the Eurythmics with some wisdom from Deepak Chopra thrown in, enjoy…

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

When basic becomes complicated, Simplify!!

Einstein said many things, but one of his most profound quotes was “If you can’t explain it to a six year old, you don’t understand it to yourself”.

In this crazy tech driven society of ours people seem to have forgotten that life is meant to be about simplicity. Sunsets and Sunrises, rainbows, walking the dog, the simple tasks of life. In the excellent book about human nature; Selfish, Scared and Stupid by Dan Gregory & Kieran Flanagan: SSS article. they wrote a cheat sheet to keep it simple, here it is:

Make it Simple Shortcuts

  1. We are already ridiculously busy and overloaded with information, so make things easy to digest and simple to action.
  2. If you make our lives more complicated, we will simply ignore you.
  3. We have more options than we need, so make yours simpler to understand.
  4. If you can’t fit it onto a  post-it or explain it to a six year old, it needs simplifying.
  5. Identify the most basic need or value you need to satisfy and start there.
  6. Information curators are the new power brokers.

Bruce Lee hits the nail squarely on the head: If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done. So what has society thought about simplicity over the generations, let’s have a look:

simple1

1. How  many of these don’t you do because of the complications you have made them mean, change to the simplicity of this list.

simple8

2. Two and a half thousand years ago Confucius gave the world this piece of advice, do you think we listened. Get out your Iphone and ask a friend: Simple Life.

simple3

3. And from the great series Mad Men, Don Draper offers an advertising executive’s cut at simplicity.

simple4

4. My friends daughter Natalie is a minimalist. Here’s some information about it if you don’t know what it is:Minimalism.

simple4

5. Never thought I would see the day I would quote Adolf Hitler, but unfortunately he has a point that politicians have been using for centuries.

simple6

6. I have to admit that there are complicated things on the planet. Those formulas we see written on those board in films need mathematicians to make them, simply, understandable: Welcome to my Complicated Life.

simple7

7. More wisdom from the curly haired one, an example: Steve Jobs and the IPhone, remember the original bricks that were the mobile phone.

simple9

8. The process of existing on this planet between sunrise and sunset , what happened?: Sunrise, Sunset.

simple10

9. When I was leaving my unit this morning, I noticed the many things I had lying around I have not used in months, time for a clean out.

simple11

10. Like this a lot. I must admit when I think of simple that less comes to mind: Clarity.

simple12

11. I was surprised Google Images brought up this reference to Bali under make it simple quotes, but then again I have not been there, all my friends who have would probably say it makes perfect sense.

simple13

12. It’s in the making of it that the simplicity gets in: Cheap Thrills.

simple14

13. What do you want to be when you grow up? Where does all that other shit come from.

simple15

14. And when your life is simplified here is one of the greatest and simplest gifts you can give another: Come up and see me, make me Smile.

simple16

15. Yes I am of that age where I recognise pictures that are no longer used but where a  lot simpler.

A typical supermarket in the modern world holds more than 47,000 products on its shelves. Only 30 years ago , that number was closer to 9,000. Some toothpaste companies produce over 50 products, more than the number of teeth we have in our mouth.

A great definition of simplicity is given by Jonathan Ive, Apples head of design: “True simplicity is derived from so much more than the absence of clutter and ornamentation. It’s about bringing order to complexity”.

The music today is a 70’s classic, a mini doco, some pop divas, a musical classic and an alternative anthem to a simple life, Enjoy.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

Sunset is still my favourite Colour!!

There is a poem towards the back of The Four Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss called the Slow Dance written by child psychologist David L. Weatherford, it goes like this:

The Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight? Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down, Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short. The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day on the fly?

When you ask: How are you? Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in bed

With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You’d better slow down. Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short. The music won’t last.

Ever told your child, We’ll do it tomorrow?

And in your haste, not seen their sorrow?

Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die

Cause you never had time to call and say, “Hi”?

You’d better slow down. Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short. The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere, You miss half the fun of getting there

When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift thrown away.

Life is not a race. Do take it slower.

Hear the music Before the song is over.

Timothy talks about busyness being one of the major causes of stress and the enemy of the new rich, the four hour week workers whose lives are about living for fulfilling their dreams, dancing through life. So I have chosen some dancing quotes to look at hearing the music before the song is over:

dances1

1. I hear their reply when I ask, How are you because my heart is open from the dance of life.

dances2

2. Don’t let those hundred chores that need to be done in your head forget how much you and your friends would dance to the music and the not music when you were little: Safety Dance.

dances3

3. We have all met that person who makes us break our rules, often more than one on our lifetimes.

dances4

4. Not sure what the difference is, they say perfectionism is its own worst enemy: Let’s Dance.

dances5

5. I like doing it with another soul so all that exists are our two hearts beating as one.

dances6

dances7

7. Always remember what had you take up the dance in the first place, the joy and freedom.

dances9

8. Before enlightenment, take one step then another.  After enlightenment and success, take one step and then another: How Far I’ll Go.

dances10

9. To me, dancing is about the expressive bits, not the steps that make it up.

dances11

10. My 90 year old mother said to me she would like me to lose some weight. I am 63 and over 100 kg again, and yes, I am a dancer: Better when I am Dancing.

dances12

11. I just took part in Dancing Freedom’s 21 day dancing challenge. You got sent 10 to 20 minutes music to dance to everyday. The  only space I really have in my flat is the kitchen and the back yard.

dances13

12. I dance on dance floors where speech is not optional, we are there to dance, we are all quiet: Can’t stop this Feeling.

dances14

13. Not the slow dance, these times are special.

dances15

14. Don’t mess with a dancer, we are tough as nails and sweet and kind all in one: Shake It Off.

dances16

15. And this is what the poem is about, the Heart.

Doing the slow dance is like turning off the noise. Surprisingly the world doesn’t end and you end up being liberated in a way few people ever know. During this time follow the koan – If you don’t have attention, you don’t have time.

Note to Self, Let Shit Go!!

This is a beautiful sentence for the life altering book The Anatomy of a Calling: A Doctor’s Journey from the Head to the Heart and A Prescription for Finding your Life’s Purpose: It’s tricky to learn how to inhabit your brilliance- to let our lights shine unimpeded-without mistakenly letting it fuel the ego.

On the other hand what spiritual teacher and author Marianne Williamson writes in her book A Return to Love is true:

” Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened  about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine. we unconsciously give  other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

So how has the planet related to inhabiting our brilliance, let’s have a wee peek:

brill1

1. If you have a belief in that everything is possible the chances you will come up with something new is higher.

brill2

2. Because there is a brand new interpretation of it existing that did not before you took on the challenge: Amazing Grace.

brill3

3. brilliant
ˈbrɪlj(ə)nt/
adjective
  1. (of light or colour) very bright.
    “brilliant sunshine illuminated the scene”
    synonyms: brightshiningblazingdazzlinglightMore

brill4

4. I’ve got a soul kind of feeling, moving to the beat: Soul Kinda.

brill5

5. Welcome to the human experience, that’s where life really lives.

brill6

6. Some brilliant words from JFK about humanity: Teardrops.

brill7

7. I hope they say Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included when they are talking about me.

brill8

8. Aren’t we always feeling a little bit more brilliant on a sunny day: Ain’t Nobody.

brill9

9. Is your life your favourite movie, what’s its name?

brill10

10. I might do a blog soon using quotes when world leaders were respected for their wisdom not their stupidity: Back to Life.

brill11

11. From one of the brilliant ones.

brill12

12. Not in it’s flag, it’s army, it’s leaders, simply it’s people: Our House.

brill13

13. The oldest comment, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe lived from 1749 to 1832, a great innings for the time. Brilliance does not mean that you will always spend time with others.

brill14

14. Just couldn’t leave Oprah out, proof in the pudding: Sweet Dreams.

brill15

15. Finally a quiz, one of the most brilliant human beings ever, who is he?

The key is to recognise that spiritual gifts , divine downloads, miracles, magic and brilliance are all the result of Consciousness streaming through us. Our egos don’t get to claim credit for any of it. But it is our responsibility to avoid blocking its expression through us,

Namaste until next time, my dear friends
