There is a voice that doesn’t use Words!!

It’s here, arrived in the mailbox today, Yay!!. I’m talking about Marc and Angel Chernoff’s wonderful new book Getting Back to Happy: Here’s the Link. I have been a huge fan of theirs since I came across their first book and their Facebook page a couple of years ago, definitely one of the top five list creators on Social media. if you are one of my booker lookers you know I share their posts unashamedly because they can make a profound difference.

I used the method I always use when I write about their insights, open to a page and the right thing will be there, so on page 52 in the Mindfulness chapter is the following piece of wisdom – Inner Peace is Knowing how to belong to oneself, without external validation: In order to understand the world you have to turn away from it on occasion. Sometimes the need to justify yourself to others causes you to cease to be at peace with your thoughts. Don’t look for anyone else to give you permission to be yourself, or validation to be happy in the present moment.

So let’s wander off into the world of Inner peace and see what wonderful quotes have been expressed about it over time:

inner peace 1

1. I had an amazing example of this in my life recently. I became seriously content for the first time in my life, and in doing so I gave up the wish that the women I had met had to be the one, something that had been controlling my thoughts for months.

inner peace 2

2. From one of the two greatest philosophers in the world, Ms Unknown and Anon. comes a reminder to be calm in your heart: A Great Big World.

inner peace 3

3. Although born a prince, Buddha Sakyamuni realized that conditioned experiences could not provide lasting happiness or protection from suffering. After a long spiritual search, he went into deep meditation, where he realized the nature of mind. He achieved the state of unconditional and lasting happiness: the state of enlightenment, of Buddhahood. This state of mind is free from disturbing emotions and expresses itself through fearlessness, joy and active compassion. For the rest of his life, the Buddha taught anyone who asked how they could reach the same state.

inner peace 4

4. How much my inner proofreader wants to change center to centre but for my American friends I will give that thought up: Riders on the Storm.

inner peace 5

5. We all have this within us, its called the shadow and the light, they travel together.

inner peace 6

6. 42: Silence is Golden.

inner peace 7

7. They say time is money, they cannot pay you enough for this.

inner peace 8

8. The place to start looking for it is inner, not outer so what they do doesn’t threaten your Inner Peace: Hello.

inner peace 9

9. Hi, my name is Zero (really). I’m the author of Not Everyone Will Understand Your Journey: Lessons learned from the path less travelled. Some of the work I’ve written over the past few years has been shared millions of times across the internet, so there’s a good chance you’ve already read some of it — although it doesn’t always have my name attached. Cool name.

inner peace 10

10. You can become such a famous cartoon bear I don’t even have to put the name down here: Anything is Possible.

inner peace 11

11. Francis de Sales was a Bishop of Geneva and is honoured as a saint in the Catholic Church. He became noted for his deep faith and his gentle approach to the religious divisions in his land resulting from the Protestant Reformation. He is known also for his writings on the topic of spiritual direction and spiritual formation, particularly the Introduction to the Devout Life and the Treatise on the Love of God.

inner peace 12

12. How often do you ask yourself, who am I really: Remember Who You Are.

inner peace 13

13. Love me some heart opening, any time of the day!!

inner peace 14

14. My daily to-do list: I Gotta Find Peace of Mind.

inner peace 15

15. it reads like ancient hieroglyphics, but you get the point don’t you.

I’ll finish with some more wise words from Marc and Angel – It’s important to remind ourselves that the greatest enemy of good thinking and mindfulness is busyness. We all have seasons of wild schedules, but very few of us have a legitimate need to be busy all the time. Too often, we simply don’t know how to prioritize well and say no when we should.

The playlist for today begins with Christine Aguilera, then back in time to The Doors and The Tremeloes. Back to the present with Adele then an iconic Aussie band of rockers Icehouse, some wisdom from the Lion King, finishing with some soulful Lauryn Hill.

Namaste until next time my dear friends.

Excuses will always be There!!!

Kate Swoboda writes in her excellent book, The Courage Habit: Here’s the link., What are Stories? Stories are internal narratives and assumptions that we make about how the world operates. But, here’s the important part: stories might not be objectively true. They are your lens on life and, like a pair of sunglasses can change how you see the world. The story you put on your experience has everything to do with whether you see yourself as a victim or a survivor, whether an experience is dangerous or an opportunity, and whether you have the capacity to develop more courage if you are just not very courageous.

What stories have you made up and accepted that stop you from doing those deepest wishes you have had all your life. The world has had a lot to say about limiting beliefs, so let’s begin that journey:

limits 1

1. I first heard this expression in my Anam Cara, Emeli Paulo’s RAW workshop, always remember you are Enough.

limits 2

2. Remember when you used to believe in dragons and unicorns, what happened: Changing your Limits.

limits 3.jpg

3. When is that possible while I have all these things to do today, it’s a Nike situation, do it now!!

limits 4.jpg

4. There is that saying, whispering sweet nothings, Isn’t it time we changed nothing to something: Careless Whispers.

limits 5

5. You have to guess what some of these empowering beliefs are as you can not quite make them out, what do you think they are?

limits 6

6. While sitting alone on his cushion, Adyashanti had a classic kensho, or awakening experience, in which he “penetrated to the emptiness of all things and realized that the Buddha I had been chasing was what I was: Love No Limit.

limits 7.jpg

Where do you come on the scale, perhaps you discuss the non-real people our TV screens toss at us via reality TV every day.

limits 8

8. Didn’t all quite fit in, my vote is for Is no box: Little Boxes.

limits 9

9. I have many positive signs on my walls, hadn’t thought of using my clothesline.

limits 10

10. Bring on the Gorgeous for me, love the Gorgeous: Gorgeous.

limits 11

11. One step forward or one step back, just don’t stay stuck where you are for a very long period.

limits 12

12. Of course, Guatama had something to say about limiting Beliefs: An Unguarded Moment.

limits 13

13. And here are limited beliefs playmates that quell your happiness.

limits 14

14. I often dream of the South African plains and being a Lion: The Lion Sleeps Tonight.

limits 15

15. What would or could you do if you didn’t know it was impossible? I would make the world paradigm, Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included.

These quotes show exactly why it’s important to examine the Stories that we inherently assume to be true. You could ask if it’s possible to cjange your stories? The answer. I have known many people who have shown me it is possible to consciously choose another story. Consciously choosing your stories is a matter of where you  put your attention and what you decide to make things mean.

Music and words for today starts with some Wayne J. Dyer wisdom, followed by a fantastic George Michael anthem. Then a love song from Mary J. Blige and back in time to Pete Seeger. Then my favourite pop diva Taylor Swift, an iconic Aussie band, The Church many  of you willl not have heard of and finishing with a street Acapella ensemble, Alcapella Soul.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

The real Santa Claus is at the Mall!!

I have found an old favourite book of mine: Debbie Ford’s The Dark Side of the Light Chasers: Reclaiming Your Power, Creativity, Brilliance, and Dreams. I suspect it may not be my copy as there are quite a few underlined sections in it. I suspect that it may belong to my sister, Ruth. It is one of these under-linings that caught my attention, the statement We only see that which we are.

This statement brings to mind the premise that we judge our lives based on that which we believe to be true and that this is not necessarily the case. So how do we break out of this lifelong habit of assuming that our world is fixed? It covers all areas of our lives and there have been many fine quotes written about it, here are a few of my favourites:

that 1

1. It is often difficult to remember that failures occur to point us towards that we are truly meant to be doing. For some time it feels like life sucks big time.

that 2

2. Unfortunately, one thing we cannot keep only seeing that which we are: Planet Earth.

that 3

3. The planets favourite bard has a go at it, pointing out that it takes our relationship to others to make up our daily lives.

that 5

4. Adams was an advocate for environmentalism and conservation, a lover of fast cars, technological innovation and the Apple Macintosh, and a radical atheist which makes his statement a bit contradictory: Stuff that Works.

that 4

5. Takes the half glass full to an entirely new level, doesn’t it?

that 6

6. And how C.S. went about changing our beliefs with his classic novel The Chronicles of Narnia: Who You Are.

that 7.jpg

7. They say you can change a habit by doing something else for 21 days, is it the same for our beliefs?

that 8

8. I think we have all had those moments where we feel we need to contact someone even though we haven’t heard from them when these arise they may contact you out of the blue: As you Are.

that 9

9. Peace cannot happen through the use of weapons, books are another matter.

that 10

10. It’s up to us because we can, It’s our time – Rod Williams: What About Us.

that 11

11. What history are you on the planet to make?

that 12

12. Remember to breathe next time we meet: The night we Meet.

that 13

13. Even for the mountain climbers, this is true.

that 14

14. And that which we are is Enough, always Enough: Never Enough.

that 15

15. And I finish with the quote I have on the side of my altar, often credited to Nelson Mandela, but actuaally it’s from Marianne Williamson here.

Debbie says – I like to think of it in terms of energy. Imagine having a hundred different electrical outlets in our chests. Each outlet represents a different quality. The qualities we acknowledge and embrace have cover plates over them. They are safe, no electricity runs through them, But the qualities that are not okay with us, which we have not yet owned, do have a charge. So when others come along who act out one of these qualities they plug right into us. She finishes the paragraph with the line: It is only when you’re lying to yourself or hating some aspect of yourself that you’ll get an emotional charge from someone else’s behaviour. So it’s up to you to keep working on those areas and install a cover plate.

The music for today begins in the past with Duran Duran and Texan singer Guy Clark. We then return to this century with Jessie J. A recent discovery of mine, Rag and Bone Man is next, then the versatile Pink. Someone new to me, Lord Huron follows finishing with one of the magnificent tunes from The Greatest Showman soundtrack.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

I didn’t change, I just found Myself!!

The title of this blog comes from one of the great musician/philosophers, Bob Marley. Today I would like to put lists within a list, one of them being quite long. They are the list of lessons for finding your strength in hard times. There are forty of them so it will take a while to ponder them all. They come from my friends Marc and Angel Chernoff, I have the honour of being a Facebook friend of Angel. here they are:

You are not what happened to you in the past, Focus on what you have, not on what you haven’t. Struggling with problems is a natural part of growing. it’s OK to fall apart for a while. Life is fragile, sudden, and shorter than it often seems. You will fail sometimes. You have the capacity to create your own happiness. Emotionally separate yourself from your problems. Don’t make a problem bigger than it is. Everything that happens is a life lesson. View every challenge as an educational assignment. Things change, but the sun always rises the next day. Giving up and moving on are two very different things. Distance your self from negative people. Perfect relationships don’t exist. You must love yourself too. Don’t let others make decisions for you. Resentment hurts you, not them. You’re not alone. Everyone has problems. You still have a lot to be thankful for. Consciously nurture your inner hope. It’s better to be hurt by the truth than comforted by a lie. It’s hard to tell how close you are to success. Not getting what you want can be a blessing. Laughter is the best medicine for stress. Mistake are important to make. Worrying is literally a waste of energy. Even when it’s hard to move, take small steps forward. There will always be people that dislike you. You are better off without some people you thought you needed. You are ONLY competing against yourself. You can’t control everything that happens to you. Life is NOT easy. Your future is spotless. You are not trapped: you just need to re-learn a few things. Everything in life is two-sided. You always have a choice. Let others in when you are in a dark place. If you ask negative questions, you will get negative answers and The end is a new beginning.

Pretty cool list. But I wish to ponder how society deals with our strengths, sometimes we have to go through a lot to realise them. It’s a common human frailty, a thing you will notice in the quotes I have chosen as examples, here we go:

strength 1

1. We all feel better in summer under the sun. Remember to use winter to recuperate and allow your inner strength to shine when it needs to.

strength 2

2. Reminds me of the last few kilometres of the first marathon I ever ran. I wondered why all the people around me were talking to themselves, and then realised I had said that out aloud: Not Afraid.

strength 3

3.  My name is Brigitte Nicole I am a writer, specifically quotes and self-help material. I dedicate myself to providing help through my writings to people who are struggling with life. My goal is for my page to revolve mine around my writings, which I fondly call “the art of words”, for I believe in the power of words to induce change personally and globally.

strength 4

4. Heart, mind and spirit. In the training program I am in called Warriors of Love it is your seed essence: Spirit Bird.

strength 5

5. Just your best, it may be as simple as sleeping all day some days.

Strength 6

6. The day after mothers day, I am reminded of how my mother held on for three months without really eating at the end of her precious life. How much did we put our mothers through: Superwoman.

Strength 7

7. You are here for your unique reason, some days you are closer to it than others.

Strength 8

8. A bit like the perfect relationship does not exist, even the one with yourself. Remember to look beyond the imperfections: Perfect Day.

Strength 9

9. The honour of not hiding your vulnerabilities anymore, your life empowered by the strength that is given to you by this not so simple action.

Strength 10

10. I have been asked to list my perfect life several times, I always seem to leave out the pain that life included in its recipe, Oops: My Immortal.

Strength 11

11. How many times have you been broken? Congratulations, you are still here, that strength within got you through, Yay!!

Strength 12

12. There will always be things that happen in our lives that as young innocent children we could never imagine. Well done for still being here: Imagine.

Strength 13

13. As a qualified proofreader, it amazes me that they can create these images and leave words out. But you get the drift without the to.

Strength 14

14. Mahatma was a dude: Everybody Hurts.

Strength 15

15. American-born author Aberjhani (born July 8, 1957, in Savannah, Georgia) is a historian, columnist, novelist, poet, and editor. Although well known for his blog articles on literature and politics, he is perhaps best known as co-author of Encyclopedia of the Harlem Renaissance and author of The River of Winged Dreams. The encyclopedia won a Choice Academic Title Award in 2004.

Everyone you meet, everything you encounter, etc. They’re all part of the learning experience we call ‘life’ Never forget to acknowledge the lesson, especially when things don’t go your way. if you don’t get a job you want or a relationship doesn’t work, it only means something better is out there waiting. And the lesson you just learned is the first step towards it.

The music today begins with some rap from Eminem, then the beautiful Spirit Bird from Xavier Rudd, followed by Alicia Keys anthem to women. Back to the 70’s with Lou Reed and Jools Holland, followed by a little bit of rock with Evanescence. Then hope for the world with John Lennon and finishing with the powerful pop divas, Kelly Clarkson and Pink.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

Intention + Action = Magic!!

Take a moment and consider whether you’ve ever experienced something extraordinary or unexplainable, something that didn’t make sense to your cognitive mind. Have you ever known something you shouldn’t know? Have you predicted some future outcome in a dream? Have some called you when you were thinking about him or her? Have you been seized by an unexplainable impulse to do something that wound up helping another person who was in crisis?Have you experienced synchronicities you can’t write off as mere coincidence? Reflect upon your past and consider whether you’ve ever felt guided, either by your own intuition, another person’s guidance, or external “signs from the universe” in a way that protected you or someone else from harm.

This exercise is from Lissa Rankins excellent book The Fear Cure, specifically the chapter titled it’s a purposeful universe, for more info on this transformational book look here: Lissa’s website.

How does the world relate to living in a purposeful universe, here are some of my favourites quotes on the matter:

pu1

1. After publishing a string of best-selling books on the practical psychology of self-improvement, Dyer felt a shift occur in his thinking that led him to explore the spiritual aspects of human experience. “My purpose is to help people look at themselves and begin to shift their concepts,” he said. “Remember, we are not our country, our race, or religion. We are eternal spirits. Seeing ourselves as spiritual beings without a label is a way to transform the world and reach a sacred place for all of humanity.”

pu2

2. Let go of the control in your life and miracles can happen: Across the Universe.

pu3.jpg

3. One word says it all, Rumi!!!

pu4

4. During my Buddhist years, I did several community ten-day meditation retreats, you had the choice of doing it in Golden Silence. I did this several times and remember the local airport being so noisy after the experience: Silence is Golden.

pu5

5. Hate has never resolved anything in history, never.

pu7

6. The reason why indigenous cultures say that age on its own does not give you the right to be called an elder: Faith.

pu6

7. One of the grand purposes of life.

pu8

8. I recently gave up trying to be someone I am not, I feel so ridiculously free: I’m Free.

pu9

9. Remember your childhood dreams, at what age did you give them up?

pu10

10. Not over there in someone else, you are the one, own it: Star Trek – The Inner Light.

pu11

11. I am only one, but I am one. I cannot do everything, but I can do something. And I will not let what I cannot do interfere with what I can do.

pu12

12. Your part is just as important as everyone else’s: You are Eternal, The Universe.

pu13

13. We may be seeing the beginnings of the reintegration of our culture, a new possibility of the unity of consciousness. If so, it will not be on the basis of any new orthodoxy, either religious or scientific. Such a new integration will be based on the rejection of all univocal understandings of reality, of all identifications of one conception of reality with reality itself. It will recognize the multiplicity of the human spirit, and the necessity to translate constantly between different scientific and imaginative vocabularies. It will recognize the human proclivity to fall comfortably into some single literal interpretation of the world and therefore the necessity to be continuously open to rebirth in a new heaven and a new earth. It will recognize that in both scientific and religious culture all we have finally are symbols, but that there is an enormous difference between the dead letter and the living word.

pu14

14. We are sent here to provide the piece of the puzzle we came here to contribute: Live Your Life.

pu15

15. I think the human condition makes that wait without anxiety something that we have to work on our entire life.

So how did you react to these purposeful moments provided to you by the Universe – Lissa asks: did you ignore it? did you rationalise it away, did you trivialise it and write it off as coincidence, do you make up implausible stories to explain it? Did you tell others your story? Did you keep your experience a secret? Did you have a “This changes everything” moment? Or did nothing change?

Remember to listen to the Universe, it has your back.

We have 60’s music to begin with, The Beatles and the Tremeloes, followed by some boppy George Michael. Then mainstream Kenny Loggins followed by some Star Trek music and Alan Watts wisdom. We retun to this century to finish with some rap from T.I. and Rhianna.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

I am in Charge of how I Feel!!

Marc and Angel Chernoff’s book 1,000+ little things Happy Successful People do differently is one of the best buys I ever made. Unfortunately it is not available at the moment because it has gone for re editing. They are releasing a new book Getting Back to Happy: Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Reality, and Turn Your Trials into Triumphs: which ships 22nd May 2018. Their website http://www.marcandangel.com/ has all the details and many of their fantastic lists to help you live a great life.

I opened the book today and the page was entitled Self Love Questions to make you think. The first question is : If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend? There are nine other questions just as confronting and insightful about how we relate to self-love.

So what vignettes do we release into the world regarding this often hard emotion, let’s take a journey:

sl1

1. At times we need to do this to our dear old brain. its our own worst enemy.

sl2

2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, remember to behold yourself first and foremost: Beautiful.

sl3

3. Lalah Delia is the founder of VibrateHigherDaily.com and Vibrate Higher Daily Blog. Vibrate Higher Daily is a sacred online space for personal growth, elevation, and transformation. By creating the hashtag #VibrateHigherDaily as a personal journey mantra and reminder, a new path was born. Soon, many others also journeying towards living their highest potential took community and joined in.

sl4

4. Not taken or single – Self Loved: I’m Real.

sl5

5. Such beautiful words to remember: You can’t lose you.

sl6

6. I had a session with my mentor the other day, He asked me who was I trying to be, and that wasn’t who I really was. I have fallen in love with the fact I will never  be this more available Rod, I will be kind, supporting and loving Rod: I will Survive.

sl7

7. Or your kingdom, I think all of humanity could do with this list.

sl8

8. We all abhor violence toward others , why do we insist on regularly doing it to ourselves: Self Esteem.

sl9

9. How much has the person in your mirror been through, three cheers, they are still standing!!

sl10

10. Handed out at birth, keep working on it: Superpower.

sl11.png

11. Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never, Never Ever.

sl12

12. Pierre was a French tragedian in the 16th century. He probably wrote this so we could avoid this other works: Alive.

sl13

13. André  Gide (French: was a French author and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1947 “for his comprehensive and artistically significant writings, in which human problems and conditions have been presented with a fearless love of truth and keen psychological insight”. That’s one hell of a way to say Self-Love.

sl14

14. We can see the magic in you so don’t forget that it’s there: All of Me.

sl15

And finally, remember self love can not come from another.

One more question from Marc and Angel: What’s something Nobody can ever steal from you – let’s go for Self Love.

Our music today is dominated by women. We start with Christina Aguilera, then Jennifer Lopez, travel back to the 70’s with Gloria Gaynor, then a sad number from The Offspring, to the mighty Beyonce, followed by Sia ending up with John Legend.

Namaste until next time, my dear friends.

Always desire to Learn Something Useful.

Once again we return to Danielle LaPorte’s great book White Hot Truth for today subject, that often misunderstood emotion called desire: Here’s the Link.

The chapter on desire is subtitled a broader view for creating reality and begins with the following poem:

Dear Infinity

soon

enough

My Future

will be

now

and my scars will have grown into

sacred geometry

(circles of Dignity, pyramids of Will, vortices of Love)

I hide what I have to let go of in furrows

behind a tail gate

and I whisper wishes

into every victory seed

I plant –

every one hears this prayer

Dear Infinity

Breathe life into

my every desire.

To give some context to desire let’s have a look at how different parts of society view it:

The Catholics: If you want it, you have to go through God to get it.

The Buddhists: Your problem is that you want it.

The Zen Buddhists: What’s to want?

The Hindus: You wanted that in your last life.

The Capitalists: You got to want it more than anyone else.

The New Agers: Just keep telling the Universe how much you want it.

I have followed Danielle’s Core Desired Feeling for over four years now, freed from my to do list perfection after one or two. So how do we as a society relate to this often verboten subject that is desire:

desire1

1. Some people say Donald Trump is Ayn Rand’s love child. He obviously forget this piece of advice.

desire2

2. I love this statement Tom Krause wrote about teaching, Welcome to teaching!!! You are now part of a profession solely dedicated to helping students of all ages learn. It is a profession where the more you give of yourself, the more you get in return. Most famous people are eventually forgotten. Teachers live on in the hearts and minds of their students for a lifetime: The Rose.

desire3

3. “Dreams do come true, if only we wish hard enough. You can have anything in life if you will sacrifice everything else for it.” “There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else.

desire4

4. 3 percent of people write their goals down. In a study they earned on average 10 times more than the other 97 percent. Do you write down your passions, your desired feelings: Change.

desire5

5. Are you lost?

desire6

6. And the surest way for them to be uncontrolled is to deny they exist and not deal with them: Scary Monsters.

desire7

7. Whoever wrote this must have been following me around for a long time.

desire8.png

8. I think the last word is praised: Praise You.

desire9

9. But what if your fantasies become your reality: Yummy!!!

desire10

10. A force to be reckoned with, desire can take you to some strange places:

desire11

11. A photographer by trade, Jason uses his images and wealth to combat the negative effects ethnic identity has on the human race.

desire12

12. Blind from the age of 7 to 15 after falling down the stairs, Eric Hoffer is famous for this insight – A movement is pioneered by men of words, materialized by fanatics and consolidated by men of actions: Opportunity.

desire13

13. A prolific quoter, T. P. Chia has a site with over 800 quotes on it. Many of them pointing to it is up to us to fulfill our desires and turn them into achievements.

desire14

14. A synonym for desire, curiosity is defined as a strong desire to know or learn something – “filled with curiosity, she peered through the window. Other ways of saying it are inquisitieness, interest, and spirit of enquiry: Curiosity killed the Cat.

desire15

15. How many times has this  happened in your life, never knew there was such a sexy word for it.

Danielle comments that in her experience, desire works best when you have intersecting reasons for wanting what you want. Yu want it for yourself, and you want it for others. You want it for pleasure, and to be of service. You want it because having it gives you joy, and you can send that joy ( or money, or resources, or healing ) out in other directions. I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.

The songs this time begin with a classic Bette Midler tune, then the pop diva Taylor Swift. We then return to the 80’s with Bowie followed by Fatboy Slim. Then a Bollywood tune from the Havoc Brothers, some Sia ending with an Australian icon Little River Band.

Namaste until next time , my dear friends.

If Not Now , When?

“When you meet anyone, remember it is a holy encounter. As you see them you will see yourself. As you treat them, you will treat yourself. As you think of them, you will think of yourself. Never forget this, for in them you will find yourself or lose yourself.”

It is amazing how many quotes written in this and the last century still use the sexist terminology of single genders, I have taken on replacing these words with more appropriate ones that include everyone.

How do you treat your daily encounters with each person? Is it I know what they are like, so I don’t need to listen to what they’re saying or is it what can they teach me today.

How does the world look at our holy encounters, what have we said about it over the generations:

he1

1. This would be an amazing state to be with another person,  what could we learn about them?

he2

2. For the better I hope: Change of Heart.

he3

3. I am part of a group called Sunday Assembly, a secular group that gathers once a month and has a service to celebrate life. Our motto’s are Live Better, Help Often and Wonder More.

he4

4. From the 12th Century comes Dante’s contribution, let’s resonate more and more: Soul Kind of Feeling.

he5

5. It is hard to believe that the magnificent lotus begins its journey through mud.

he7

6. The greatest form of holy encounter, and what is more powerful than anything: Love: Beauty and the Beast.

he8

7. It was Martin Luther King day yesterday, I watched a special. It was like every word he spoke was a quote on Love.

he9

8. That’s why I meditate daily , to be alert and awake: Say It Right.

he10

9. Epictetus taught that philosophy is a way of life and not just a theoretical discipline. To Epictetus, all external events are beyond our control; we should accept calmly and dispassionately whatever happens. However, individuals are responsible for their own actions, which they can examine and control through rigorous self-discipline.

15. Another take on the opening quote by Eckhart Tolle.

We decide want we want too see before we see it. We receive what we request “Projection makes Perception”. We can find – and in fact we will find what we look for in life. Our spirit or soul takes responsibility for what we chose to perceive, fear and hate or love and joy> It is up to each of us what path we go down.

Freedom is being You, without anybody’s Permission.

Let’s relate to how we think about the functions of our body compared to the function of our mind. We just go about our business walking, driving , working and playing without really focusing on it. In contrast let’s enter our mind, Can I really trust her, do they like me, What if I forget what I am meant to say on stage, etc. etc. etc. Our body communicates through its universal language: fear. Self-Consciousness, jealousy, insecurity, anxiety – they are all fear. The mind is trying to give you what you want on a 24 hour basis, unfortunately the world does not work that way.

Looking outside yourself for the answer is looking in the wrong direction, the answer lies within. Imagine what fun life would be if you didn’t have to deal with those ongoing neurotic thoughts. You could enjoy things, and you could get to know people instead of needing them.

What would the planet have to say about that solution, let’s take that journey:

He wrote in his essay The Rebel that his whole life was devoted to opposing the philosophy of nihilism while still delving deeply into individual freedom. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature at the age of 43 in 1957, the second youngest recipient in history.

tf8

8. We are sent here to do what we ought, time to begin: Freedom.

His teachings are an open invitation to stop, inquire, and recognize what is true and liberating at the core of all existence.

Your mind has very little control over this world. It cannot control the weather and other natural forces. Nor can it control all people, places and things around you You have given your mind an impossible task by asking it to manipulate the world in order to fix your personal inner problems. Your mind is not qualified for that job. Fire it , and let go of your inner problems instead.

Why Now, Why didn’t we Know this!!

In her chapter Discernment is Everything – When the negative serves the positive Danielle LaPorte pens the following piece:

My new life is Golden

After I learned how to breathe under water

I knew that my lungs had all the answers.

My skills in courage were as follows:

swallowing terror whole

making good use of disgust

boring a hole in my kitchen floor with my tears

loving like what I loved was the only child ever to be

born of the sun and the moon

changing my mind while naked

breaking vows

making a new vow (only one)

leaning back and taking deeply deep breaths of space

watching the Universe reveal all of us to me.

My reward is as follows:

I get to go wherever I want now and always,

for instance

under water or

to that golden spot that I thought was only a dream

but is now my new life breathing me.

I can read the discernment in this and love her statement about being discerning:

Being discerning is not the same as being judgemental. Discernment is big-minded and awake. Judgement is narrow-minded and operates in the dark. Discernment is our wisdom coming to life.

How do we discern, how does the world discern? Let’s have a look by taking a journey around the globe:

discernment1

1. Now that would be a  breakthrough for all of us to relate to our lives in that way.

discernment2

2. Let’s raise our courage levels so we know when to do the latter and not spend our life suffering: Walk Away.

discernment3.jpg

3. It takes going to the edge to see discernment over judgement, are you willing?

discernment4

4. Is your Facebook feed chock full of events run by your friends and ones that Facebook thinks fit in with your lifestyle. Time to use your inner wisdom as to which ones you attend: Invited.

discernment5

5. Four interesting definitions of discernment, choosing and acting appeal to me.

discernment6

6. Often people drop the first word and never reach the stage of discernment: Sound Judgement.

discernment7

7. How often is your head held high in these situations?

discernment8

8. I just spent three hours in a workshop today listening to the cost of giving your power away to the deity known as the religious god and that we were above this, this quote reminds me of the power George said we give away: Embrace The Day.

discernment9.jpg

9. Don’t go into your life with your eyes closed.

discernment10

10. Don’t let it be such a secret in your life that it impedes your chance of success: No Secrets.

discernment11

11. Why I left the home pf the original sin many years ago.

discernment12

12. Andy Stanley is a pastor. First thing on his google entry is – What do you do when you’re no longer content with what you wear, drive, or live in? Followed by Character, Influence, Spiritual Growth. One could ask what these two statements have to do with the prophecy of love that Jesus Christ was spreading: Doing it Wrong.

discernment13

13. Love the combination of discernment and vision. Actions that will open us up.

discernment14

14. To me unrenewed is when you live your life from a poor me mentality and discernment is when you are willing to confront those parts of yourself that aren’t so nice but you hold them in your heart and see what comes from that: Suspicious Minds.

discernment15

15. In other words don’t push it down someone else’s throat.

Discernment isn’t easily swayed, because it has a strong sense of self. It means you will stop falling for anything and listen to your intuition more readily, building a stronger nature.
