Dare to Say you Will!!

I’m reading Brene Brown’s Daring Greatly at the moment – subtitled How the Courage to be Vulnerable transforms the way we Live, Love, Parent and Lead. The section I am reading is on shame and how that is one of the most primitive emotions and the only people who don’t experience shame are those who lack empathy and human connection.

B.I.G. is an acronym Brene uses – what boundaries need to be in place for you to keep my integrity to think the most generous things about you. How do you communicate that deep love so that people know that they are not alone, that you are feeling with them, me too brother and sister!!

So what have we said about dare to say yes you will, let’s go on a journey of daring greatly:

1. Are we at our greatest when we are in the heights of chaotic behaviour? Get in contact with your soul and the courage will deal with it.

2. JFK is quoting Roosevelt’s Man in the Arena speech here, with the great line ” at least fails while daring greatly “. If you fly at a high level it will include failure as well as success: Find the cost of Freedom.

3. Ass Kicking, it’s what you are taking on when you get in the arena, you own and other people’s.

4. Outside the world of chauvinistic leadership styles exists the above style – building each other up versus tearing others down: I’m Every Woman.

5.How disempowering is the statement what if, what if it doesn’t work out, they don’t like me, they do like me, these two simple words have the power to cripple you from being in action.

6. How often do you ask for what you need? Or do you listen to that little voice in your head as to why their answer will be no: Somebody that I used to Know.

7. The love human connection creates, the synergy of becoming real with each other is one of the great acts of daring greatly.

8. I was born in Warracknabeal, a small town in North Central Victoria. It is not the birthplace of what I am hungry for in my life, that’s my soul: Soul Sacrifice

10. I have shadow and light cards, the intro states that you must work on both. Hoping that life will be all light is crazy: Shadows and Light.

11. Daring greatly often is this simple or this life threatening, you choose.

12. Jessie Redmon Fauset (April 27, 1882 – April 30, 1961) was an American editor, poet, essayist, novelist, and educator. Before and after working on The Crisis, she worked for decades as a French teacher in public schools in Washington, DC and New York City. In her early career, she travelled to Paris in the summer and studied at La Sorbonne: Being Black.

13. Daring Greatly includes doing the simple things as well.

14. You must do the thing you think you cannot do, so elegant a solution: Warrior.

15. How many days a week do you show up. It’s our chance to let our true selves show up.

O.K. when you wake up in the morning each day, look in the mirror and say I will, then whatever you do that day is you daring greatly.

Action brings your dreams Closer!!

The women of America could have lain down for four years and hoped Donald didn’t get re-elected, they didn’t do this. They are committed to their rights and the rights of all the groups Donald disrespected and over half a million of them took to the streets to show their commitment to them and their way of life.

What calls people to action and to fulfill their commitments in their lives. Let’s have a look at what people say:

1. There is a famous saying, don’t listen to their words. look at their actions. It’s not your mood that gets things done, it’s your actions.

2. Are you: Shake It Off.

3. In my country, Australia, wedding commitments fail up to 50% of the time, where do they go? What is missing after the words?

4. How often do you go to the convenience store, sorry about the maccas ad: No Excuses.

5. Andy Andrews (born May 22, 1959) is an American author of self-help books and a corporate speaker, known for his 2002 bestselling book The Traveler’s Gift.^[1] He has written over 20 books and sold more than 3.5 million copies around the world. 6. Commit to the changes that are happening in your life, because it is guaranteed they are: Changes.

7. I use my goals to feel how I want to. To me, it is more important how I feel on the journey than the goal.

8. When you commit to a new future, stop looking back. That was the past and you are after a new future: Little Wonders.

9. When you make big Commitments you may need to do a bit of this, apologies for hurting someone but never for being yourself.

10. Do this, however you choose too. It’s got a unicorn in it: Born This Way.

11. Don’t listen to those thoughts. The Universe and your Inner Pilot Light are rooting for You.

12. Include others in your commitments. People are called to you by how you make them feel: Humble and Kind.

13. Can you touch the bottom of your life, make larger commitments!

14. As Jim Carrey says, there is Fear or Love, Choose one: Fear and Love.

15. I love plants in cracks, they have huge commitment.

I honor the women around the world who stood up for their rights and beliefs over the past 24 hours. It gives me hope that the change is truly coming.

Everything Matters, Land is Precious!!

I am currently reading Stan Grant’s book, Talking to my Country, an indigenous reporter who gave a remarkable speech about how his people had been treated for the 200 years of white occupation : The speech. It tells his story growing up black in white Australia, a country which did not count their indigenous as humans beings ILO flora and fauna until 27 May, 1967, it is a powerful read.

So how do we hold country around the world, I have selected some quotes from the new residents and the indigenous residents of the lands that make up the earth, lets go for a wander:

1. François Fenelon (6 August 1651 – 7 January 1715), was a French Roman Catholic archbishop, theologian, poet and writer. His best knowing writing is : A people is no less a member of the human race, which is society as a whole, than a family is a member of a particular nation. Each individual owes incomparably more to the human race, which is the great fatherland, than to the particular country in which he was born. As a family is to the nation, so is the nation to the universal commonweal; wherefore it is infinitely more harmful for nation to wrong nation, than for family to wrong family. To abandon the sentiment of humanity is not merely to renounce civilization and to relapse into barbarism, it is to share in the blindness of the most brutish brigands and savages; it is to be a man no longer, but a cannibal.”

2. Whilst I am not a great supporter of Religious and Political orders, I like the choice of doing good as the ethics of his religion : Losing my Religion.

3. “Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.” Albert’s take on it. What will the world make of white nationalists being appointed to the Trump administration.

4. I was a year off being a draft dodger because I was definitely not going to Vietnam to serve Queen and Country: War, What is it good for?

5. Captain Jack has the privilege to be able to point out the not so good sides of his country and be listened to.

6. An icon of the protest movement worldwide, he believed that land was for everyone: This Land.

7. William Lloyd Garrison (December 12, 1805 – May 24, 1879) was a prominent American abolitionist, journalist, suffragist, and social reformer. 9. A fact that most governments forget, that they are not the land of the country.

10. Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included: Already Home, Already Free.

11. Stan talks about his people’s attachment to the land, they do not own it , they belong to it.

12. The beautiful music of Xavier Rudd, I honour that place he talks about his music coming from: Spirit Bird.

13. The so-called winner gets to write history, how much is fact?

14. When your tribe is humankind, and you do this, the planet and the land will have a chance: Stand By Me.

15. Mainstream media has a lot to do with the resurgence of people of this ilk being elected as representatives in Governments. Look up Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party, she can’t spell white supremacist. By the way this was years ago. She was wrong about the Asians, it has now become the Muslims.

So do you live on your land or in a country. Are you Australian, American ot part of the human race? We need a transformation to the latter for the killing to stop and see the rise of humanity.

What’s meant to Be!!

I spent quite a few years of my life being impatient that life should go a certain way then took up meditation on advice from a friend of mine who seemed much more relaxed about life than myself.

I was terrible at it first with my monkey mind on overdrive, but slowly I learnt the art of patience and mindfulness and have been able to accept that this madness of our society for instant gratification is not how life is meant to be , that good things come with patience. Let’s define patience before we begin our journey.

Patience (or forbearing) is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on negative annoyance/anger; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties. Patience is the level of endurance one can have before negativity. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast. Antonyms include hastiness and impetuousness.

I have found 15 quotes that go back as far as Ancient Greek times, lets begin.

1. At first having a massive to do list may seem to some that we are getting more done, but our mind is so busy with getting from A to B to C that we are concentrated on what we already know and are missing out on what is available from the universe.

Edmund Burke was an Irish statesman born in Dublin, as well as an author, orator, political theorist, and philosopher who, after moving to London, served as a member of parliament for many years in the House of Commons with the Whig Party. With all those occupations Edmund must have lived the above quote throughout his life: Growing Up.

Surrender to What Is!!

I am currently reading Gabrielle Bernstein’s new book The Universe has Your Back. In it, she talks a lot about faith, not necessarily Gods faith but faith in the universe and each other. Here’s a link to her page, she is one of the new thought leaders: Gabby’s page. What do you have faith in, your friends and families love, that it will all work out, that something will save you? There are many options so let’s have a look at some of them.

1. With faith comes fear, with the light the dark, I have worked more on the fear and the dark using a method called renewal recently, it has moved me from my head to my heart. Here’s a link to its source: www.activationschool.com.

2. I went to a catch up with the graduates of a program I crew on called GRIT: Create the Life you Want and Emeli Paulo , the facilitator led us through a process that got you in contact with your soul and you took away three gifts. here’s info on the program, GRIT – Find your Purpose.

3. Breathwork, the way out of your head into your heart and soul.

4. The power and the passion, both you cannot see. But you can certainly feel it: Power and the Passion.

5. I know when my heart is not seeing the light, it feels constricted. A bit more difficult with my eyes, because my logical mind believes what I see is real.

6. This beautiful image is the closest to God’s version of faith, George Michaels beautiful song expresses it well: Faith.

7. Faith and God, what else could you talk about but the iconic book A Course in Miracles : ACIM.

9. I love Kundalini Dance, a journey to cleanse the chakras, one night you dance blindfolded for two and a half hours. In a crowded room you dance by faith and do not crash into each other.

14. With our logical mind being so skilful at making up real stories about what happened, this is not as easy to do as it seems: Have a little Faith in Me.

15. We all have big dreams, how come they often don’t look like we have imagined, keep on dreaming, though.

I think faith is also closely aligned with the community, the more the merrier, the stronger the faith.

Support – It means many things across our society which could not exist with out it. We often hold ourselves as separate but this is far from the truth as without the support I received on my arrival on this blessed planet from my parents I would not be here writing this. It could be any of the following areas but I have focused on the support of family and friends, to me a divine purpose:

Lets have a look at how life talks about the act of supporting one another:

1. I spend time volunteering at two organisations because over my many years on this planets I have learnt that the biggest changes in my life have occurred when I have been involved in community action.

4. I spent yesterday at a workshop called clarity and productivity, this is the type of support that would honour the person you are giving it to: Aretha’s Respect.

5. Possibly the most famous love affair of our time, Snoopy and Charlie Brown, who is the Snoopy in your life?
6. I have put my siblings through times where it was their love that sustained out relationship not my actions, I regret doing this but at the time I was not capable of anything else: That’s what friends/family are for.

7. Through giving support this is the gift you give to yourself, unconditional self love.

8. I saw this image and fell in love with it, then I read the message about the knowing. I have this in my life, thank you all: Sometimes when we Touch.

11. High Five what your friend is good at, their soul is in there waiting to hear it in times of trouble.

12. The hug, one of the ultimate givings of support, here are her allies: Say Something.

13. I love the silliness of this one, but then again is it silly?

14. A little support is better than no support. Eeyore puts it so well:Stand up.

15. Do this exercise program daily and we will change the world!!

So my request is when you have that thought that that person or that cause would be a good thing to do don’t ignore it, go with your gut feeling, the more the merrier.

Like Icing with Cake!!

How many truly intimate moments do we have in our lifetime? Is it a touch from our beloved, a feeling surging through our heart or screaming at a person you desire for 5 minutes like recently happened to me because words didn’t seem enough.

Type in Intimacy in Google and it brings up over 9,000,000 results. Lots of books, on line and experiential courses abound. It is defined as Intimacy:

the state of being intimate.

a close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group.

a close association with or detailed knowledge or deep understanding of a place, subject, period of history, etc.:

an intimacy with Japan.

an act or expression serving as a token of familiarity, affection, or the like:

to allow the intimacy of using first names.

an amorously familiar act; liberty.

sexual intercourse.

the quality of being comfortable, warm, or familiar:

the intimacy of the room.

So academics are not even sure what it means, how has it been quoted over the centuries, lets have a look:

1. I like this definition a lot, it has happened to me recently leaving me gob smacked as what to do about the situation after it occurs.

2. Same person, blowing all over each others face: These Boots are made for Walking.

3. I’m available for this. Not sure if there is someone there at the moment.

4. Sounds like song lyrics , these words are so intimate: Just give me a Reason.

5. My friend Chris runs beautiful events that allow people to experience the intimacy of this over a day : The Yoga of Eye Gazing.

6. Is bilss really Bliss? my anal proofreading picked up the mistake. Obviously they didn’t go the hard yards of intimacy when creating this: I was Here.

7. A deadly trio for the sacredness of true intimacy. Watch out for them.

8. How often do we withhold this integral form of intimacy in the name of not hurting someone ? : Only Love can hurt like This.

9. I see You, a phrase donated to the English language from the blockbuster film Avatar. It expresses the depth of intimacy well.

10. Intimacy cake, without the icing you end up in bed, alone. : Commitment.

11. Do you do the small things from which big things grow in the intimacy stakes on a daily basis?

12. I want this oh so badly, come on. I am ready and able.

13. Are you a player. How much does the C word scare you in your dealings in your relationships.

14. Henri Nouwen was a Dutch Catholic priest, professor, writer and theologian. His interests were rooted primarily in psychology, pastoral ministry, spirituality, social justice and community. Over the course of his life, Nouwen was heavily influenced by the work of Anton Boisen, Thomas Merton, Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh and Jean Vanier.

After nearly two decades of teaching at academic institutions including the University of Notre Dame, Yale Divinity School and Harvard Divinity School, Nouwen went on to work with mentally and physically handicapped people at the L’Arche Daybreak community in Richmond Hill, Ontario.: Fear and Love.

Does Popularity equal Quality?

I lost my Bose headphones recently, they were beautiful and the sound impeccable. I cannot afford to pay $200 for another pair so have been buying made in China $3.00 ones from a two dollar shop. They do not do the same job and they do not last for very long, stretch them too far and they become headphone not headphones,

I can always excuse this with the fact it will take nearly 100 pairs of them to cover the cost of another set of Bose headphones but the quality is just not the same. What is it that has us declare what is quality? Relationships, computers, phones are several areas in our lives that we use this word for, so what has the world said about it and how have they defined quality over historical times, lets have a look:

1. Steve Jobs, CEO of the iconic Apple company kept the launch of the Apple 2 computer on hold for over a year until his company got it right, the first successful mass produced computer and the beginning of a journey that saw him being sacked from his position in 1985 and returning to save the company in 1997 with ideas such as iMac, the iPod, the iTunes Store, the iPhone, the App Store, and the iPad.

2. Quality is developed by having integrity in what you do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 month a year, all the years of your lifetime: Circle of Life.

3. Do you perform only for an audience, remember your soul is watching if you are in the middle of a desert.

4. Kaoru Ishikawa is known for his diagrams that are known as fish-bone diagrams that showed the causes of a specific event. They were used to turn around the quality of an event, showing that failure could be turned into success: Resilience. Failure to Success.

5. They say you can change or create a habit over a 21 day period, quality is on of those thing you can create in that time too. It doesn’t take for ever.

6. Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team or an organisation; and it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring.

Yet, while leaders set the direction, they must also use management skills to guide their people to the right destination, in a smooth and efficient way: Leader of the Pack

John Ruskin(8 February 1819 – 20 January 1900) was the leading English art critic of the Victorian era, also an art patron, draughtsman, watercolourist, a prominent social thinker and philanthropist. He wrote on subjects as varied as geology, architecture, myth, ornithology, literature, education, botany and political economy. His writing styles and literary forms were equally varied. Ruskin also penned essays and treatises, poetry and lectures, travel guides and manuals, letters and even a fairy tale. The elaborate style that characterised his earliest writing on art was later superseded by a preference for plainer language designed to communicate his ideas more effectively. In all of his writing, he emphasised the connections between nature, art and society. He also made detailed sketches and paintings of rocks, plants, birds, landscapes, and architectural structures and ornamentation. he definitely lived the above quote in the many areas he strived in life.

9. Many people have issues in increasing the amount they charge for their services, especially in the healing sector. How much do you charge for your gift? Provide quality and it should not be an issue.

10. In producing quality in our lives, there must be a high level of caring involved. As this quote states it’s not in the knowledge you have gathered over the years but the effect you have had on people that is remembered at your passing: If Everybody Cared.

Peter Drucker ( November 19, 1909 – November 11, 2005) was an Austrian-born American management consultant, educator, and author, whose writings contributed to the philosophical and practical foundations of the modern business corporation. He was also a leader in the development of management education, he invented the concept known as management by objectives and self-control, and he has been described as “the founder of modern management”.

We have the choice of leading a quality life or one that is so so. I vote for the former.

Uncover your true Self!!

I offered to send Facebook Birthday Cards to a friend of mine who runs a self development company and has close to 5,000 Facebook friends and was so incredibly busy. It lasted a day before one of her friends commented that if it was coming from her it would be more authentic. Shows how well our true friends know us.

So what makes something authentic, the definition is as follows

entitled to acceptance or belief because of agreement with known facts or experience; reliable; trustworthy:

an authentic report on poverty in Africa.

Law. executed with all due formalities:

an authentic deed.

Music.

To Emeli’s friend we were not being authentic, so what has been said over the centuries in regard to this matter that clutches at our heart strings, let’s have a look

7. How often do we catch ourselves seeking approval from our peers to justify our worldly existence? How much easier life would be if we could drop this malady from our daily actions.

8. What do you sell your soul for? I know that I get a knot in my stomach whenever I do this: Who will Save Your Soul.

9. The queen of authenticity, Oprah Winfrey admits that she wasn’t always that way. It was something that came to her later in life. She wishes she had come to it earlier.

10. With 80 publications to her name, authenticity is just one of the many subjects Marianne Williamson is one of the worlds most respected experts on. She rose to fame with her iconic Return to Love first published in 1992: The Power to Change.

11. Freedom is not just being released from behind prison bars. Nelson Mandela said if he had not been willing to forgive his guards whilst in prison for 28 years he would never have been free for that period of time.

12. How do you pray on a daily basis? Prayers can be construed as a matter of relationship with our true nature, more than a request or an invocation. Its purpose is to learn to be an ally of mystery, instead of trying to drive life according to our need and interest or to get specific help: Spirit Prayer.

I see the power of authenticity in friendships and love can make or break trust, It’s something we must continually practise or it just falls away.

Life Expands Courage!!

Went on an Unleashing retreat on the weekend, it was called Unleashing Ecstasy and we had to have an intention for the weekend. I came up with being totally and completely loved but during the weekend realised that I saw this was only for my good parts, so I added All of it to the intention on the Saturday evening. I was mildly surprised when I came down with a severe cold an hour later as I thought intention where meant to illuminate you.

Still have the cold but thought I would have a go at the blog, even thought it’s a day late. What do we do to illuminate our lives on a day to day basis and what has society said about it over the years, Lets have a look:

1. Crying has a bad rap and attracts much undeserved criticism and unrequested support as there is something obviously wrong with you if you are crying, its just an emotion as is smiling.

2. Dorothy Thompson (9 July 1893 – 30 January 1961) was an American journalist and radio broadcaster, who in 1939 was recognized by Timemagazine as the second most influential woman in America next to Eleanor Roosevelt. She is notable as the first American journalist to be expelled from Nazi Germany in 1934 and as one of the few women news commentators on radio during the 1930s. She is regarded by some as the “First Lady of American Journalism.” : Turn on the Lights

3. They are waiting for you to illuminate your light, your friends and the rest of the world.

4. I like reading books like this, that talk about triumphing over the dark side : Don’t stop believing.

5. Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882), known professionally as Waldo Emerson, was an American essayist, lecturer, and poet who led the Transcendentalist movement of the mid-19th century. He was seen as a champion of individualism and a prescient critic of the countervailing pressures of society, and he disseminated his thoughts through dozens of published essays and more than 1,500 public lectures across the United States.

6. And Pharrell Williams wrote a song about this: Happy.

7. Stop searching for it out there, Big houses and Ferraris don’t bring you happiness, though some may disagree with this. It’s the inner journey where the answer lies.

8. Jaeda is a self-taught photographic artist and poet. In “real life” she is a private, solitary and reclusive creature. She loves unraveling the mysteries of the human spirit. She creates self-portraits, dreamscapes, survivor art, spiritual art, sensual art and figurative.

Images . . . poetry . . .words . . .they can offer us a feeling, an experience and the magical gift of transport.

I want my imagery to give people a way to express themselves, to offer them a moment of magic and wonder, I desire to ignite their imagination, emotions and give them a sense of connection: Black and White Emotions.

9. Sometimes we need to do this to illuminate what is important in our lives.

10. Possibly one of the most recognised quotes about getting off your bum and doing it: I want to break free.

11. A question if answered that will always illuminate your life if the answer is No.

12. There are 7,000,000,000 different normalities on the planet, I don’t think it can be: Lights.

13. If it light you up you are illuminated.

14. They say meditation lights up your neural passages, this person could be taking it to the extreme: Om Shanti Om.

15. On the weekend I mentioned we spent a lot of time delving into the essence of giving and receiving Love. Our willingness to love the dark bits is just as important as the happy bits.

To me it takes courage to seek what illuminates your life, thank you to all the people who are on this journey at the moment.
