If Liberation feels like a chore, It isn’t Really Liberation is it ?

This question goes deeply into our Psyche, doesn’t it. Its point to the fact you may go to conscious dances, attend bush Doof festivals, do ten day silent meditation retreats but if it is something you are doing to fit in, or because it is something you have always done it isn’t really liberating your Soul is it.

Wikipedia defines liberation as:

noun
the act of setting someone free from imprisonment, slavery, or oppression; release.
“the liberation of all political prisoners”
synonyms: freeing, release, discharge, deliverance, salvation, rescue, relief, extrication, setting free; More
freedom from limits on thought or behavior.
“the struggle for women’s liberation”

Being set free from imprisonment is how I relate to it on a personal level, that being that my mind is imprisoned when it comes to certain beliefs, and if I do not take actions to release it from its slavery to the thoughts that have me trapped there I do not liberate myself from these situations.

The 15 quotes I have chosen cover a wide range of views on what Liberation is and how it can affect your life. Lets delve into it :

Liberation 5

Passion, Power or Fruit?

I have recently been getting a lot of articles in my News Feed about how the education system is letting our children down, that they learn very few practical skills for later in life and definitely do not look at what are you passionate about. When they begin at the age of four or so they are astronauts Prime Ministers, League footballers, Rock Stars but this is soon crushed out of them as impractical and everybody is taught from the same book.

So how do we get our Passion back? For me it was a journey of  lots of workshops, long periods of mental health issues, running marathons, drug taking , singing in choirs etc. I found it attending a film night at the end of my last period of Mental Health issues. A Colombian film at the Darebin Intercultural Centre in Preston, Victoria, Australia I was impressed by the sense of community. I asked if I could volunteer and that is when my love of Interculturalism began.  Here are the links to the Facebook group I created called Interculturalism, a place people can post their examples of the ethos, Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included Interculturalism.

I have chosen 15 quotes on Passion and of course, one of them is from Oprah, here we go.

passion1

!. Oprah, loved or hated. I’m part of the former group. A newsreader who has created an empire based on possibility and sharing it. One passionate individual.

passion2

2. It is said that your dreams often reveal your passion in life to you. I have been remembering mine more and  more lately and it looks like it includes travel.

passion3

3. I recently posted that Ghandi, Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa had the same 24 hours as we did. What made the difference is their level of passion, I think. My brother went ape-shit at it, is saying I was being arrogant. Not arrogant, passionate.

passion4

4. I receive a post called The Daily Flame from my friend Lissa Rankin who I met in Byron Bay. My friends think I write it. It is empowering your Inner Pilot Light, her latest book is about it The Fear Cure. If your Inner Pilot Light is aflame people will notice.

passion5

5. Beauty is one thing that attracts our attention. It interrupts the mundane. How to transform the mundane into beauty is live a life of  passion fulfilling your dreams.

Passion6

passion8

8. Deepak Chopra, doyen of the Spirituality genre, says Always, yes lets repeat that again, Always go with your passions, Are You doing this?

Passion9

9. Vincent Van Gogh, In just over a decade, he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints. This is passion, to me boredom is a made up concept that covers our profound laziness.

Passion10

10. Love this, the Drunkenness of the mind, when we have lost control of our senses. Being sensible and being passionate do nor correlate in my world.

Passion11

11. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of the great philosophers of the 1700’s was a poet, novelist, playwright, diplomat and civil servant as well. He points to you see the world as angry or sad if you have an angry heart, but it is just as easy to have a happy and passionate one. Its your choice after all.

Passion12

12. Our hearts, the lifeblood for our bodies. Why are more and more people dying from heart attacks in our heavily compartmentalised world. I think its time we etched Passion on them at birth.

Passion13

Passion14

14. I see the sun come up most days. This is a new occurrence over the last few years. For most of my life my sleep was a sacred site as it filled up my day as relevantly as what I was doing to fill up the rest of the day. No alarm clock for me.

Passion15

15. Novelist Galen Watson combines the two things that will have you live an extraordinary life, Passion and Love in his moving quote.

Passion turn to the left, Passion turn to the right or whatever direction you need to to fulfil your dreams. Namaste until next time my dear friends.

Stand by your?

I made one of the toughest decisions in a long time the other day. I told the woman I thought could be my soul-mate to go away. I had sent her an SMS message daily , that’s the way she liked to communicate, for the past five months what I liked or loved about her.

Yet she continually reminded me that I was being negative towards her and seemed to store them in a negativity database to bring out when she felt like. The last time she did it was during a conversation where she contacted me saying she had been sad and teary and thanking me for my latest SMS.

I offered to stop what I was doing and come and see her. It went through this weird process which ended up in her messaging she was not sure whether she wanted to see me due to my negativity. This is why I do not like communicating by SMS, it is totally impersonal and can be misconstrued by both parties.

I have chosen 15 quotes about breaking up, one of the things I used to consider the hardest thing to do. Here they are.

breakup1

1. It takes you to get to that point where you know your rights are being abused before you say enough is enough, do it and hope they get the message .

Breakup2

2. My heart has been hurting since I did it, The last thing I wrote was that PS I still love you, but self love has to come first.

breakup3

3. It takes something to do this, you argue with yourself remembering the good times, and I will miss them so much. But I have grown as a person over the last six months and know what I want in my life

.breakup4

4. The she’ll be right syndrome. The horses head on the meal table Say it like the image you prefer but you have to go all the way down in your relationships to come out the other side.

breakup5

5. Not at this point yet, far to soon and my heart is still hurting. But I can relate to the concept, it seems it will open space for me.

Breakup6

6. I told her that I would change my life to see her more often because I did think of her a lot when doing things wishing I was that she was there. Now I won’t have to, shame really.

Breakup7

7. I’m not sure if this is true for me at the moment, they say you should fight cat and dog for those you love.

Breakup8

8. I didn’t realising it was hurting me until the last time, I had always apologised for doing it, then realised I wasn’t the person she was referring to, so got the lesson.

Breakup9

9. In my heart I don’t want to do this, but my anxiety level says something else, that for my health I need to or have it dramatically change.

Breakup10

10. This is a nice way of putting it, perhaps they should put it on all government forms.

breakup11

11. I thought I was satisfied with where I was at, my truth had other ideas and said stand up for yourself.

Breakup12

12. Self explanatory, this is the silly humorous quote in case I got a little too serious.

Breakup13

13. Was I asleep, it didn’t feel like it. Will discover this over the next few weeks.

Breakup14

14. I suppose it happens in all friendships, that there is a honeymoon period. When you are not contacted for several days you realise that its over.

Breakup15

15. What would it be like if you had an unbreakable heart, I think it would have to be made of plastic. Meanwhile we journey down the Yellow brick road of Relationships.

I am getting sadder and sadder as I write this , yet I stand for my decision to have the right not to be criticized on an ongoing basis.

Forgive and Forget, Is it that Easy?

I was recently talking to a friend outside her house discussing what publicity I could help with for an event she was involved with to receive a discounted ticket when I recieved an SMS from my bestest friend asking me if I was off the airwaves.

I SMS’d her back and explained what I was doing or at least I thought I did. I then received another SMS asking where we still going out that night. I sent one back saying that going out with her was my main priority. The reply I received was not what I expected, It was that she had not felt that way for a long time and felt I was being negative to her.

After the initial shock of receiving such a reply I realise that we needed to discuss the difficulties we had been having in catching up and forgive each other and re- establish our friendship to what it had been when we first started going out with each other.

Wikipedia defines Forgiveness as follow –

Forgiveness – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia//

Forgiveness is the intentional and voluntary process by which a victim undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding an offense, lets go of negative emotions such as vengefulness, with an increased ability to wish the offender well.[1][2] Forgiveness is different from condoning (failing to see the action as wrong and in need of forgiveness), excusing (not holding the offender as responsible for the action), pardoning (granted by a representative of society, such as a judge), forgetting (removing awareness of the offense from consciousness), and reconciliation (restoration of a relationship).[1]

In certain contexts, forgiveness is a legal term for absolving or giving up all claims on account of debt, loan, obligation or other claims.[3][4]

As a psychological concept and virtue, the benefits of forgiveness have been explored in religious thought, the social sciences and medicine. Forgiveness may be considered simply in terms of the person who forgives[5] including forgiving themselves, in terms of the person forgiven or in terms of the relationship between the forgiver and the person forgiven. In most contexts, forgiveness is granted without any expectation of restorative justice, and without any response on the part of the offender (for example, one may forgive a person who is incommunicado or dead). In practical terms, it may be necessary for the offender to offer some form of acknowledgment, an apology, or even just ask for forgiveness, in order for the wronged person to believe himself able to forgive.[1]

I have chosen quotes from across the Ages to see what our society has to say about it, Here we go –

forgiveness1

1. In our love relationships we will always come across things that make us arc up. This enables us to practice the noble art of forgiveness on a daily basis to restore the deep state of Love that we committed too when choosing those particular people to fulfil these roles in our life.

forgiveness2

2. When we are ruminating on the past and blaming others or being the victim of circumstances in our lives, it is valuable to realise tht we cannot change events as they occurred but we can drastically lessen the effect they will have on our future by uttering the words, silently or out Loud, I foryou you, me , them etc. etc.

forgiveness3

3. Lissa Rankin, Author of the ground breaking book The Fear Cure points to that a major percentage of disease is caused by False Fears. On reading the books I discovered that a lot of these fears come from things and events where you have not forgiven ,even to the point of Heart Attacks, here is the link to her page about it – The Fear Cure .

forgiveness4

4. Self Forgiveness is an important part of Self Love, a state that is required to allow other Love into your life. Be courageous in admitting that even you make mistakes.

forgiveness5

5. Holding on to interactions and events that play on your minds days and years later is very bad for your mental health research shows. Converting these from a bitter experience to a valuable lesson will free you from the debilitating illnesses that often follow the practice of blame and shame.

forgiveness6

6. Every Tuesday the local Council come and collect the rubbish I have been unable to recycle. If is was as easy to clear the mind of holding of things from the past that clutter up our lives.

forgiveness7

forgiveness8

8. How long have you sentenced yourself to. I had one shadow belief that was from the age of four. It only took to the tender age of 60 to realise what it was costing me, the world looked very different after letting this one go. I suppose there was no internet and Facebook when I took it on.

forgiveness9

9. World Peace Day is 21st September, It is dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war and violence, there have been a total of 26 days of peace since 1945, the end of World War 2, the War to End all Wars. Oops got that one a little eschewed.

forgiveness10

10. Be in the Now, Moment to moment, Discipline – all words that point to what is needed to live in the state of the dignity of True Forgiveness.

forgiveness11

11. Any you an anyone or a butterfly? Butterflies have beautiful colours and character and fly lightly in the wind because they are not carrying their past burdens around with them.

forgiveness12

12. Two steps forward, three steps back doesn’t get much done. When you grant yourself and others the precious gift of forgiveness you free your feet from work-boots to the latest Nike runners and you have the ability to Just Do It!!

forgiveness13

13. Promises, Promises was a minor hit for the band Naked Eyes in the eighties. What they sung in the 80’s. Its about how much value we place on them. When you forgive it better be of a reasonably high level.

forgiveness14

14. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a fantasy about a man who grew younger not older. He grew smaller the longer his life went on, do you by holding on to those grudges?

Forgiveness15

15. Finally, the words you use in your life is what gives you your power. In Australia we are known for saying sorry for the simplest of things. So when you have cut someone deep those words have little effect, Try on Will you forgive me?

We had a frank and moving discussion that night when we went out and restored the relationship to nearer what it had been. I didn’t sat please forgive me. I will next time I see her.

When Language Ends, What Then?

I had been ruminating on what to write my blog about this week, but after spending a particularly creative day at my friend Emeli’s business Collective Potential the thought ballon went off so here they are , 15 perspectives on creativity, some quite famous , others virtually unknown.

The great inventors, artists and musicians were often considered flakey in their own time and most definitely did not fit in and many died penniless as their recognition came years later. What do we say about this area, creativity , that has changed our planet time and time again over the ages.

creativity1

1. Henry Matisse painted beautiful flowers, he also penned one of the greatest quotes about creativity, simply three words, Creativity takes Courage. When we get to our fear factor that is where creativity kicks in, in that area we have not been before, the Unknown.

Creativity2

2. Remember as a child when you trashed your mum’s kitchen making your first cake, flour and cake mix and dirty bowls everywhere. One of our first major acts of creativity and it definitely was not tidy. Guess what, creativity rarely is.

creativity3

3. Sylvia Plath’s poems were often considered on the dark side, but they always seemed to strike a cord with the reader. On creativity she pointed to the danger of trying to be creative when you were visiting the realm of self doubt. Do something to get out of this state before journeying down its path.

creativity4

4. Some say Love is the drug, creative types know that the boredom of a life without creativity is the drug that feeds their adrenaline glands.

creativity5

5. Four years old, playing knights and dragons with our imaginary friendly dragon, other kids come along and join in the game until everybody in the playground is taking part. Creativity, pass it on.

creativity6

6. Author of the 9 Intense Experiences, Brian Vaszily points to the fact that creativity is actually showing other people their blind spots, something new and exciting that they can add to their daily life.

Creativity8

7. The M word, Edison made a million of these before he came across the right formulae for the light globe. Yes on your creative path you are going to make many mistakes. In fact if you are not you are not being creative.

Creativity7

8. Einstein, motley hair, eccentric as hell. But he always had that cheeky grin that one wears when you are being totally creative, much fun.

creativity9

9. Let it go , Let it Out , Let it all Unravel. Let it free and It will be a path on which to travel. Michael Leunig’s beautiful ode to letting go, this is the world of creativity, go there.

Creativity10

10. Do we call them goals those things we attain to and that are not in existence yet, but in the world to be. I use Danielle LaPorte’s Core Desired Feelings from the Desire Map technology to relate to this area of my life. Mine are Peace, Bliss, Love, H.O.P.E. – Helping other people evolve and Abundance. Living out of these is much more fulfilling than any To Do list.

creativity11

11. My friend Jules is wild and juvenile and one of the most creative people I know. His imagination is unfettered. He is often accused of not growing up. I think he should be given an Order of Australia for his contribution to the creativity of the planet.

Creativity12

12. Our minds often get blocked up with the grunge of our everyday lives, there are methods such as meditation, Yoga and my favourite Tai Chi to help clear them and allow some space for creativity to replace it.

Creativity13

13. Oh those times in our lives when it felt like everything was floating around torn asunder, not connected at all. A perfect opportunity to use your creative juices to restore some sense to it all.

creativity14

14. We all have the same number of hours in the day as luminaries like Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Beethoven, Sir Richard Branson and my friend Emeli Paolo of Collective Potential. The difference in what they achieved and are going to achieve, go Emeli is that they knew and know that you cannot change the world by being like it, you have to do something radically different.

Creativity15

15. Fonzie in the classic 60’s TV show Happy Days couldn’t say the word sorry. In the world of Creativity you had better be able to be with being wrong, because you will be many times, that’s why it’s called creativity after all.

Are we fragile to the Core?

After doing six workshops in a day recently I felt a little bit fragile, Feeling this way it made me wonder what did fragility mean and how did it shape our society, This is Wikipedia’s cut at it.

fragility

noun
the quality of being easily broken or damaged.

Getting to the bottom of it all to be free.

I have recently been busy with an online Sacred Union course and a course I attended every Monday for six weeks called Creative Mastery. Here are the links if you wish to read more on the subject http://www.starofishtar.com/white-tantra-creating-sacred-union-within/ and http://activationschool.com/creative-mastery-6-week-program/. During the process I explored the depths of what was my underlying thoughts of why life did not work at times. Creative Mastery has a lot of breath work and Sacred Union works on aligning your chakras with their relevant gods and goddesses to make your relationships shine.

I discovered and had it become OK to be my deepest darkest secret and that if people knew it I would not fall down a deep dark hole. So I have sort of fallen in love with life just walking along the street or being in a deep conversation and everything in between.

Having all this heart felt energy I have decided to pass on my thoughts on some of my favourite quotes on the subject.

1. We are not meant to have everybody in our worlds agree with our every word or action but it helps if our hearts beat as one.

heart to heart1

2. I have put myself in many a situation over my 60 years of existence where I have given away my power to the teacher or guru especially in the area of Tibetan Buddhism often forgetting the inspiring quote below. If you find a servant master situation arising run like hell, it isn’t it.

Journey1

3. When I was growing up my greatest wish was to fly unaided, I tried parachuting, gliding, hang gliding, bungee jumping and several other equally dangerous past times. I realised that it was actually an inner journey and that the flying I wished ti do was of the spiritual kind. I fell several times quite a long way ending up in pysch clinics before I realised this.

fall1

4. During the courses I learnt that one must work on both the dark and light side of ones character. It allows for vulnerability to face that which we hide to grow into our strengths.

5. I have a friend that every time we touch or hug it is like our bodies transport to the middle of the Sahara desert, an amazing temperature increase and heart rate flux. How does one measure such a re action on a scale of 1 to 10, what does it mean?

6. We spend our life hoping like hope this will happen to us and when it does it speaks so true that we wondered why we ever doubted that it would.

7. How often do we shield our heart because our head says no, no, no, no to that action or those words that need to be said or done but we would rather play it safe and survive the moment.

8.  I was lucky that the person who did this for me was born into my family. My sister said to me I don’t care whatever you do, I will still love you. Allowed me to get in touch with love and begin my healing journey for real.

9. We often have great ideas during the night whilst asleep and we often forget them when we wake. They are called dreams, my dreams , your dreams. Its critical we are really awake to fulfill them.

11. I have laughed, wept and had my heart shudder with joy at the beautiful prose that the poets of the world offer us. I had a friend who used to go to markets and create a poem from one word, a remarkable skill of the heart.

Friendship, Cheap at half the Price

Is there a price for friendship? What is a true friend versus a fair-weather one, here are my and some other better known peoples thoughts on it.

I have experienced some heart shuddering moments of friendship through my journey with my mental health issues.People who would not give up on me when I had entered the dark zone of self hatred, for this I must thank my siblings and friends I have made over the years, some of who I thought fitted into the fair-weather arena.

The quote I use to explain friendship is as follows: You cannot judge the value of a friendship, the great ones are based in Love which is priceless at its core. Lets see what others have to say on the matter.

1. friendship1

The Marquise de Sevigne, born in the sixteenth century, was famous for her letters and musing on friendship, In this well known quote she point to the fact that true friends are around when life is rocky as well as smooth sailing.

2.
Friendship2

Martin Luther King is a modern icon of oratory yet in regard to friendship he does not talk about remembering words spoken, but those beautiful moments of silence that occur between friends where words are not necessary.

3. Friendship3

I recently met one of these old friends that Jim Henson is pointing to in this quote, we had met once before but there was nothing I wanted to hold back from her when I got a chance to have a long conversation with her.

4. friendship4

Aristotle was more than a great philosopher and a bugger for the bottle he was a deeply spiritual man, he authored this quote that close friendships are like one soul in two bodies, beautiful.

5. friendship5

How often have we formed friendships because that particular soon to be friend had the same quirky liking or hobby we had, C.S.Lewis the author penned this great ode to just those moments.

6. Friendship6

Ralph Waldo Emerson points to the time I did the worst white South African gumboot dancing in front of a crowd of 5,000 people with two of my oldest friends, you give each other permission to be silly when you know the ins and out of each other.

7. Friendship8

The bard William Shakespeare reminds us that friendships are meant to grow as well as be safe places to hang out in.

8. Friendship7

Albert Camus speaks to what is beautiful about great friendships, that they happen side by side, not trying to one up our friends or follow their beckon and call.

9. Friendship9

Kahil Gibran is not just remembered for the iconic tome The prophet he also is remembered for his spiritual quotes, this is one of them that I like a lot.

10. Friendship10

Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of the American president was often in trouble with the establishment for her outspoken views but this lovely quote speaks to a person with a beautiful caring heart.

So I hope this has demonstrated that friendship is a subject that has fascinated people over the centuries, namaste until next time my friends.

Drop In and Live!!

So its time to hit the keypad again. I have decided to write about doing my friend Arion Lights Creative Mastery Course over the past six weeks. Before doing it I had done several one on one sessions with him as I had won one in a Silent Auction at Menergy, a mens retreat I attended late last year. I had spoken to David who had done the previous course and he said that it added to the power of the one on one sessions so I enrolled on the payment plan.

I went along looking forward to the first night and this poem by Arion probably explains where I was going in:

Dear creator…I wanted to say Sorry
I have got life a little bit mixed up
I thought you gave me a purpose I had to fulfil
And I have been trying so hard to do it
But I got tired and Lost, In all my effort
Then finally I realised you were not asking me to do it
You were offering it to me as a gift
And all I had to do was empty myself for you
And now I offer my whole being as your canvas
So the beautiful purpose you whispered on the mountain
Can flow in every pore and melt the deepest marrow
And through me all who grace my dance
Sorry Again about that
It is much more fun this way…

The six weeks was a journey in facing the beauty and the crap of life and letting go and accepting it all.

First week we look at Essence – the sacred place within us all that remembers the truth, beauty and wisdom of who we really are. This place is not readily obtainable when you are a head merchant like myself and the thoughts are going through at thousands a second. So I spent a lot of time coming home to the Breath and fighting my monkey mind.

Second week Arion added the distinction of Embodiment – a process that takes you through what are the patterns that a situation creates in your Breath, Movement, feelings, Thought, Sight and Word. I had definitely not done this in all the other courses and seminars I had tried to fix myself with over the Years. I will put the six quotes here so I don’t give away too much as it is a experiential thing and Arion has an online program coming up so it will be available world wide.

Breath

If you want to master your world, master your breath. The breath is the gateway to the Soul.

Movement

Our body structure shapes the foundation of our reality

Feeling

Beyond our ever-changing surface emotions is an ocean of raw creative energy that can be awoken and ridden like a wild dragon

Thought

Beyond the fragile immature thought of our human mind is a vast and limitless intelligence that can be the wise and directive force in our lives

Sight

What we see is not fixed but a wild tapestry of possibility woven by the focus of our perception

Word

Beyond just describing reality our words are of the pure essence of creation, directing reality in each moment, inside and out

I did my first two on Joyous Belonging and I am enough as these are two issues I have constantly battled over my time on this planet.

Week three we looked at the Yin and Yang of Mother and Father and how to move from Action to get things done Essence to Essence expressing Action. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s quote on this sums it up pretty well

When I am….completely myself, entirely alone
then my ideas flow best and most abundantly
Whence and how these ideas come
I know not nor can I force them

Creating the essence of my visions through the six domains was fun sometimes and excruciating at other times. I did the ones I found easiest first and didn’t look at the one regarding my home for two weeks, no issue there, not.

By now you might be asking a question what does Arion Look like, so here he is.

Arion1

By the time week four came around Life had been putting things in the way of completing the homework, yes you do have homework, its not that difficult, listening to some guided meditation and filling some sheets out, so I was looking forward to what we call Renewal. The distinction that Everything is a gift was freeing as with everyone else I have areas I do not like visiting. My deep down one is I am Revoltingly disgusting, a joyous space to hang out in.. I found in Visiting these areas it allowed me to be more in the world through simply accepting it and not fighting it. Doing this through the six domains took me places I had not been before in confronting this lock, an expression used in the course to name something that quells your freedom in areas in your life.

The focus of week five was Liberation, the possibility of living free from the confines of the Mind, Yay!! The deeper I am willing to do this work the more layers I will have courage to shed, the deeper the calling the more the practice will become sacred and the deeper the calling the simpler it will become. I by now knew with my core that when I am suffering it is because I have put the essence of whatever the situation is outside me, so this work is an ode to personal responsibility.

CM!

Celebration and sadness were in the air week six, we had a communal picnic on the lawn outside and then had a completion exercise inside where we held the course, its very cosy. Back to Arion for some words on what I got out of this course,

Everything is here now. Everything
You can create anything that you embody as essence and allow into action
The only thing that stands in your way is identification with thoughts and feelings
Thats All.

I battle with this on an hourly basis but I have the tools to transform it. Thank you from my heart space Arion for becoming my Facebook friend and being such a mad bastard at Menergy and offering your session in the silent auction. I will use this work for the rest of my life.

As I mentioned before he is taking it worldwide, here is the link https://www.facebook.com/events/1565828673697982/ get on board and transform the world.

Namaste my friends until next time
