Having a Dream!!!


I went down to my friend Frankie’s opening of the Centre of You – A Place to Be and Become last Sunday. I did not realize it was so close to my den of iniquity from 30 years ago, Revolver upstairs. I went to a Japanese cafe for dinner and watched the crowd coming out of Revolver at 5 pm stoned off their faces, instantly taking me back to my 5am exits in a similar condition.

But this blog is not about that, it is about Frankie’s business partner Grace and the speech she gave about how she had attained her dream, The Centre of You. Grace was invited to perform with the Kirtan musicians, another dream fulfilled. But it was in her story of standing for the dream of the centre that moved me so much. Grace had been contemplating what would fill her up every moment of the day and it was to have a place where people could heal their souls. At the time she had seventy-seven cents in her bank account and was in debt in other places.

Grace never gave up on her dream because of her circumstances and kept speaking it to all and asunder. Over time she would meet people who would hang around for a while and also people who would say, I am on your journey. Enter my friend Frankie at a breath-work training which enabled the energy required to fulfill Grace’s dream.

At the end of the day, whether you chose to go with it, flow with it, resist it, change it, or hide from it, life goes on. If what you did today didn’t turn out as you’d hoped, tomorrow is a new opportunity to do it differently, or nothing at all. What’s wrong with You?


Always I have been told I suffer from depression, and recently that is what they said when I entered a psych unit for the sixth time during COVID lock down. I then met a beautiful woman who suggested I see her therapist which I eventually did. He asked me a lot of questions, one being about my work history before my first breakdown. My dark secret is that I worked for the Governmental Social Security aka Centrelink for 13 years.

My heart had been telling me to leave for the last three years of this time which I did not take notice of, therefore my mental health went down and I was eventually dismissed never to work again. The psychologist asked me had I seen any violence during this time and for some reason I told him about the three stabbing I had seen over this time, I used to joke at parties that I was probably the only person in the room who had seen this many if any.

He instantly suggested that I was probably suffering from UN-diagnosed PTSD, AKA post-traumatic stress disorder. I also explained that violence was just a way of life over the years at Centrelink. It actually made a lot of sense for me after he explained the background of it.That people were not used to seeing so much violence in their lives but many remained untreated.

So PTSD, how have we discussed it over the years, does society want to disown it, lets have a look:

Have you ever been Crazy?


Psychiatric Units are not noble establishments, private or public. You lose all your rights when you enter both. Having been in both I vote for private over public, the public ones are heavily understaffed and all conditions are thrown in together, not a very practical healing space that leads to violence and sexual abuse on a daily or weekly basis.

I am a bad patient when I enter these institutions, all I want to do is lay on my bed and eat even though the meal times are ridiculously early. I don’t want to discuss my “problems” with the nurses or the mental health professionals or attend the numerous therapy information sessions to fill time in. I have been through this process five times spending a total of six months in different units.

Last time was during a COVID Lock down wave. I was there for 4 weeks and was told I would be released the following Friday. Filling in the release papers I felt I was lying about the questions was I ready to go home. I found out they were releasing patients they felt had made some progress as they did nor want them to become Institutionalized during lock down. Therefore I spent the next three weeks on my couch surviving on Uber Eats. Then,one day Uber Eats, the next day, miracle cure I was as I had been before the episode and no repercussions. My doctor said it was the meds kicking in and my therapists that my issues had died down.

One of the main things I have learnt over my mental health adventures. is that happiness is not something to postpone for the future, it is something you design into the present, starting from today. Here’s a few things you can try on:

  4. Embrace Life’s Challenges.
  5. Find the balance that allows you to be truly who you are.

  10. Accept what is, and live for the possibilities that lie ahead.

When I go into these mental health free-falls is is the people who show me Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included that have helped me get through. Our lock down is officially over in Victoria, Australia. The only thing we have to do is wear masks in public places. Over the seven month period I went over a mental health period including a psych unit visit, a beautiful relationship, sadly no longer and for the final month and a half anxiety as I live alone.

But now we can dance together, hang out in public parks and have more than one family member in our homes.But the length of time has not made it an easy task, we Melbournians are so used to being at home and 5 kilometers that exploring the world and people again isn’t that easy. How do you get back in connection with your dance crews, the people you picnic with and your beloved families, if in fact they are for you.

So here are some questions to make you think about returning to the fold:

Are you a Good Ancestor?


I hadn’t heard this expression till earlier this week when I was cleaning up and came across the Consciousness Rising copy of Dumbo Feather, a magazine with a tagline Conversations with extraordinary people. One of the articles was about being a good ancestor. The term came about in the 1970’s from Jonas Salk, who also developed the polio vaccine.

It didn’t take off much since then due to neoliberal hyper-individualism, but is receiving more interest these days. A Good Ancestor tries as best they can, to think as far as they can beyond their own life span, to the time when their children’s children will be living.

Roman Krznaric, author of The Good Ancestor comes up with six conversation starters to have a Good Ancestor chat:

  2. Intergenerational Justice: What, for you, are the most powerful reasons for caring about future generations.

How do you fill the gap left?


I was having trouble getting over a recent love affair so began reading about breakups. I found this really good blog in it titled: Losing the Love of Your Life: What to do when you lose the one by Natasha Adamo Here are the first four paragraphs of it, it explained it very well.

Losing the love of your life makes you realize that love can truly be a double-edged sword. It can make us feel so uniquely connected to the world and fill our hearts so they are overflowing. It can also slash our hearts to shreds, leaving painful emotion seeping out for a long time to come.

And one of the most painful places to be in is the one where you feel regret, guilt, and pain for losing someone you see as too much of a loss to recover from. The one who was there for you, loved you, and did the “thick and thin” thing because they believed in you. But now they are gone.

Losing the love of your life and actually realizing it can take some time to surface. There is pain on both sides when a breakup occurs. A time of healing. A time when moving on begins and life slowly becomes happier. The pain subsides, and you reflect on the lessons you learned and seek new love.

There are also times when this doesn’t happen. Where you find yourself thinking of someone every day.  Losing the love of your life is painful. You feel heavy with guilt, and regret lives in your gut. It is often at this point you question yourself, and think that this person you lost, has left a hole in your life that can never be filled.

I keep going between the two and feel I am leaning towards the former at the moment although there are days when the latter takes over. So how does society advise you to fill that hole when it sticks around, lets have a look, some are harsh:

You/I are responsible for our own happiness, no one else. You/I are responsible for our behavior, no one else. If you are not seeing the things in life that you want, look at yourself. What are you afraid of? Self-sabotage is when you pike at the last moment, afraid of what lies ahead (even if it’s good for you).

So you can be afraid of the gap, torn apart by the gap or learn to be courageous and jump the gap and move forward. The latter will bring you closer to Love and Respect for All, Everyone Included. Until we meet again, my dear friends.

Do you think you have time?


How many years do you think you will live for? Most people I know assume 80 to 90 so don’t do the things on their bucket or dreams list straight away or plan when they are going to do it because they have years to go. This was interrupted for me when a friend of mine died of a massive heart attack sleeping on a couch a week ago, he was 50. He had a heart of gold and was well loved but he is dead so all the things he intended to do over his remaining 40 years were cancelled out.

Vision boards, dream lists etc. etc.. where do you keep yours? I have an end result list from a Create Your Destiny course I did recently, I keep it on my mirror so I see it every day, here it is:

  1. I choose the end result of being in a long term relationship in 2021.
  2. I choose the end result of contributing 25% of my income to good causes.
  3. I choose the end result of traveling overseas to interesting places yearly.
  4. I choose the end result of making $210,000 from my writing and research businesses yearly.
  5. I choose the end result of dancing at least 4 times a month.
  6. I choose the end result of having sex on a regular basis.
  7. I choose the end result of marrying my soulmate.
  8. I choose the end result of beginning a family.
  9. I chose the end result of weighing 84kg.

I am 66 so do not have as long as others, and given what happened to my friend, it may be shorter than I think. So what has society said about having dreams to fulfill in out lives, lets have a look:

I am 66 years old, both my parents have passed and I miss them every day. I was checking out Booker Looker land AKA Facebook the other day and starting seeing messages that suggested a dear friend of mine, much younger than me had passed in unfortunate circumstance. He lived in the hills above my home city of Melbourne so I contacted a mutual friend who was a hills elder and was advised that yes, it was true. Michael had a heart of gold and time for everyone.

It made me think had I told him how much his friendship meant to me recently since meeting him in Coolangatta airport seven years ago on the way to my first retreat after my latest mental health episode, and realising that his friendliness and assistance would mean that we would become staunch friends. We both had similar sleep patterns so used to communicate on Messenger during the early hours of the morning about topics wide and varied.

So this made me think about what society says about the importance of friendships, this is what I found:

So writing this has made me sadder at the loose of Michael, he always had a smile and a hug for his friends, of which he had many. Remember life is like a party. Michael’s sudden passing has made me think about how much I value my friendships and how many of the 15 points above I follow. Our COVID Love Affair.


7 months,from 22nd March until now, that is how long our beloved city of Melbourne has been in lock-down from COVID, most of it stage 3 and 4. We have had a love affair with masks and crosses on the ground. I began the first stages in a psychiatric unit at the Melbourne Clinic and have ended it breaking up with the women I wanted to spend my life with.

It has made Zoom like technology a must at most houses, for the kids to do their school work, parents to do their work as the government asked them not to go to work unless they really had to, and for my friends in the conscious dance community to listen to the DJ’s they danced to weekly in dance halls all around Melbourne.

I live in the city of Melbourne, Australia and we have been in different stages of lock-down for over six months, the last two in the severity of lock-down stage 4. I also live alone and until two weeks ago that meant I could not have any visitors, now I have a social buddy who can visit but I cannot visit her unless she is alone in her house, which doesn’t occur that often.

This is not what I want to write about, it is the effect of the online tools such as Zoom and Google Meet on creating worldwide communities. In the past week I have attended a moon ceremony lead by two women who resided in two different states in the U.S.A.. A world wide personal transformation seminar broadcast worldwide lead by a man who lived in Los Angeles, two dance ceremonies coming out of Holland and New York, a visioning quest broadcast and English tutoring from Melbourne and a webinar from London, England.

I would not have attended quite a few of these if not for the pandemic extending the availability of these events online. So what has the world said about the greatest greatest emergency in 100 years. Lets have a look:
