What is your weirdness?

I have a friend in America who runs after midnight nearly every night,it was a habit he picked up from being a competitive athlete in his college days. He was doing it one night when an elderly lady , wearing a Grateful Dead T-shirt and smoking a joint and strumming a guitar confronted him as to why he had such a weird habit of running at such a late hour. She said she saw hundreds of runners during the day and the early evening but Brian, was the only runner she saw after midnight. She said she knew she was a little bit weird but Brian didn’t look the sort. So they exchanged their stories as to how they had picked up their strange if not weird habits.

It made me think as to what was my weirdest habit at 66. What I came up with is being known as the chaistro in the Conscious Dance scene in Melbourne , Australia. Several years ago I received a message from my friend Jules that she had a slight emergency and that she had no one to make her chai for Mojo – The dance of Connection. I had made two cups of chai in my life up to that stage but said I would give it a go. Back then I asked our friend Google and the recipe I found sufficed. Two other friends who ran dances asked me later if I would do it for them. One changed my recipe when she asked me graciously “You are not using caffeinated tea in the chai and serving it to my dancers at 10 p.m. are you. Amazingly I had met the co-owner of Rainbow Chai online the week before and Nicole makes one of the best caffeine free chai mixes in the country. This is now my standard base for Rodster’s famous Chai.

So what had construed weird behaviours over the centuries, lets have a look:

  1. Both words start with W – Amazing!!!

2. Anagrams speak the truth in this case: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIWALAgvz2U

3. If you have ever read Jabberwocky or The Hunting of the Snark you will know why Lewis Carroll was known as the masterpieces of literary nonsense aka weirdness.

4. One of the worlds most misunderstood muso’s. A creative genius: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUq_T_Bhau8&list=PL8WvZFiJpAr0gGNicUfEnMcs0E5DRMwTX

5. Don’t bring out the Weird lines until they really, truly love you.

6. That’s what often attracts them in the first place: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzZn31gd_Jc

Of course one must believe in Unicorns.

8. I love the honesty here of a vice POTUS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1f8S5u01E0Y

9. It takes something to get to this stage.

10 This made me think of Wednesday Addams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3jnymeJof4

11. And Hunter was one of the true professionals at weirdness.

12. Dick Francis, went from being a jockey to an international author selling 60 millions books with seemingly no formal education: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1F0lBnsnkE

13. Got to love that grin, Frightening.

14. Have you found your mutual weirdness yet?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roPQ_M3yJTA

15.How many of us achieve what we say we are going to become as a child. We probably would have thought, why would you become that weird pastime.

So let’s finish with some questions that your weirdness may have been asking you:

  1. If you had a friend who spoke to you the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how LONG would you allow that person to be your friend?
  2. Why are you You?
  3. In one sentence, what do you WISH for your future self?
  4. What’s something you have that EVERYONE wants.
  5. What’s something NOBODY could ever steal from you?
  6. What has the little VOICE in your head been saying to you lately?
  7. What makes you FEEL incomplete?
  8. What else would you SEE about yourself if you removed the thought that’s been troubling you?
  9. What’s something NEW you recently learned about yourself?
  10. What PROMISE to yourself do you still need to fulfill?

More dancing in the playlist today and possibly a track that needs to go to the censorship board. A newbie to me, Yungblud begins the tracks followed by Frank Zappa. Two of the pop divas next, Kylie and Pink. The dance tracks are by Wednesday Addams and some Old time Movie stars. We finish with Nelly Furtado https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrv0WhiXr4fFwRaTpLypQcmh

Thinking about weirdness writing this, ropes and being tied up came to mind but that’s for another blog. We are all weird in one way or another but if we Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included – the ethos of my new 1,000,000 member Facebook group – Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to Humankind: Here’s the link to join – https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949 you call learn more about the world’s weirdness. Until we meet again, my dear friends.

You can dance if you want to!!!

I must admit we are lucky in Melbourne, Australia to have basically come out of Lockdown because we put in the hard yards of Stage 3 and Stage 4 for a period of 7 months. Can you imagine not being able to go more than 5km for months on an end, we did that and it worked The second wave began and we ended it whereas other places with the same number of cases have gone from hundreds to thousands in the same time frame

Now we are out there is a follow up crisis, now that we can go out I and other people I know are hesitant to do so on a regular basis so I reached out to the one thing I know my body loves, Conscious Dance. The first dance I attended I had to eave because it became a Contact Improvise demonstration not a dance, the two are totally different to me and it had become false advertising that it was a dance. The one I found to replace it is called Open Floor and as it is summer here the first dance was in Park-lands. I have since returned to one of my old stomping grounds at Rosina Auditorium on a Wednesday night.

I also make used to make chai for three dances, two of them clashed last Saturday so I chose the one I had been doing the longest, Mojo Dance – The dance of connection. So what have communities said about the healing power of dance over the generations, lets have a look:

1. 194 countries planet wide, each with their own language. 1 dancing soul.

2. Dance gets you out of your head and into your heart: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tz6_AUsLQ8g

3. Because they are getting in touch with their Angel spirits.

4. This magic show is priceless time and time again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdpjXLbxDq4

5. Lyall Watson wrote the iconic book Supernature and is credited with the 100th monkey effect. He spent a lot of his life studying the many different cultures on the planet.

6. Some forms of dance are competitive, not Conscious dance though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICjyAe9S54c

7. The ultimate exercise workout.

8

8. It’s the journey not the particular steps you take on the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXOAnVI3boM

9. Your choice of dance mantra.

10. From the African dances I have attended I can believe there are 31 core values: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWSYCp-46h8&list=PLme-1fWBofIw1jJy5v-2LEv2jervh7WBC

11. My body is a bit too old to create that move.

12. We put on our invisibility cloaks and disappear into the magical void: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93DWZtavaoU

13. Have you tried it?

14. Alvin Ailey (January 5, 1931 – December 1, 1989), a.k.a. Alvin Ailey Jr., was an African-American dancer, director, choreographer, and activist who founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater(AAADT). He created AAADT and its affiliated Ailey School as havens for nurturing black artists and expressing the universality of the African-American experience through dance. His work fused theatre, modern dance, ballet, and jazz with black vernacular, creating hope-fueled choreography that continues to spread global awareness of black life in America: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n30NKg4Boqs

15. Here or hear the music, it doesn’t matter, I am insane.

Dancing is not something to postpone for the future, it is something you design in the present, starting today:

  1. Appreciate what you have.
  2. Focus on things that really matter.
  3. Define your own meaning of life , and pursue it.
  4. Embrace life’s challenges.
  5. Find the balance that allows toy to be who you truly are.
  6. Love your body enough to take care of it.
  7. Limit your time with negative people.
  8. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  9. Set a good example
  10. Accept what is, and live for the possibilities that lie ahead.

In the playlist I thought I would give you a taste of what Conscious Dancers dance to. On most play lists Desert Dwellers will appear. Followed up by Shaman’s Dream. Moby crossed over into popular music as well. Then a short festival set by DJ Drop G. Off to Africa for Psquare, the penultimate track is Basher Toe and we finish with a dance routine choreographed by Alvin Ailey: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrvCZsxOmI3PAvbn-8YB2eqS

As one of the quotes says, dance is the music of the soul, if we take it on the ethos Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included has a chance. My new Facebook group, Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to Humanity uses this as its premise, here is the link to join us if you wish: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949, Until we meet again, my dear friends.

Tell me what you’re listening to?

One day late. I’ve been spending time pondering what it is worthwhile to spend doing in 2021 and the name of a Spotify playlist by Courtney Barnett called to me and became the title of this blog: What are you listening to, to create you actions this year, is it dance rituals, different types of therapies, success webinars, things that worked for you in the past, dreams that live in your hearts, there are many options to move forward with.

Being highly productive is not an innate talent, it’s simply a matter of organizing your life so that you can effectively get the right things done. What can you do to increase your own productivity? Here are some ideas that work for me:

  1. Create and observe a “to-don’t” list.
  2. Organize your space and data.
  3. Ruthlessly eliminate distractions while you work.
  4. Accept 100% responsibility for my current situation.
  5. Break down goals into realistic high-impact tasks.
  6. Work when your mind is fresh, and put first things first.
  7. Focus on being productive, not being busy.
  8. Commit your undivided attention to one thing at a time.
  9. Work in Ninety minute intervals.
  10. Reply to e-mails, voicemails, and texts at a set time.
  11. Invest a little time to save a lot of time.
  12. Narrow the number of ventures you are involved in.

The next five years could be the best five years of your life, the decision is yours. The best part of your life will start on the day you decide your life is your own – no one to lean on, rely on, or blame. So what have we said about organizing our lives over the years lets have a look:

1. Ask any perfectionist about the second line, its jams up your life.

2. Winnie the Pooh agrees with his creator about this formulae: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TISIPNpRuoY&list=PL2RBbrgcQOX7fGqrh0yWXtEfIkTR9mZQv

3. With what is going on with the current POTUS, this has far too much statehood contained in it.

4. Nobody is too busy, if they are interested they will find time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z76RDhkB-6c

5. Author unreadable but classy quote.

6. With her background in TV chef shows Anne Burrell has a lot of experience at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y66j_BUCBMY

7. “Alejandra provides organizing information that I have not heard or read before. Her concept is brilliant. The freedom you feel by simplifying your life is priceless.

8. The more people you add, the bigger the organizational challenge becomes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAVKp0X9JnQ

9. Love and Respect for All, Including yourself.

10. Projects are the short term parts of your life, cleaning and organizing you practice for life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXYlFuWEuKI

11. Message is to complete each days task, then move on.

12. Zen Habits is a blog written by Leo Babauta about implementing zen habits in daily life. It offers suggestions for how to live and also includes frequent references to how Leo Babauta has implemented these habits. He covers topics such as simplifying, living frugally, parenting, happiness, motivation, eliminating debt, saving, eating healthily and successfully implementing good habits: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwoPlRR9J_k

13. What does your necessary say to you?

14. How do you choose, flip a coin?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdphO1jfxCg

15. To me, the most intelligent Mrs. POTUS.

Think about the tasks you perform over and over throughout a workweek. Is there a more efficient way. Is there a shortcut you can learn? Is there a way to automate it or delegate it Perhaps you complete a particular task in twenty minutes, and it would take two hours to put in place a more efficient method. Bottom line, the more you delegate and automate, the more you can get done with the same amount of effort.

I simply had to include Courtney in the playlist seeing she gave us today’s blog title, we begin with her. The first of two classic R and B legends is next, Marvin Gaye. Some rock follows from American Authors then we go back to today’s music with Sasha Lopez and Andrea D.The Weeknd follow with the penultimate song being from the great Ella Fitzgerald and we finish with a song from the musical Into the Woods: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrvpUou2t5d2Z3tCl_MJkvqs

I have put my task on increasing the international focus of my new Facebook Group Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to humanity. Its context is Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included. Here is the link if you wish to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. So until we meet again my dear friends, stay safe.

How do we love?

How do we love and why do we love? I have been having discussions around this matter recently with very little agreement as to why. Do we throw all our sensibility away and become child-like or do we go on a journey to prove to the other person involved that we genuinely love them. There are many versions of what people say shows somebody loves them, it may be spiritual, it may be sexual, it may be consensual actions that fulfill each other desires.

I have been contemplating what it is for me since these conversations as it was clearly not what was offered to me as the reason I loved this person for a time. I looked and discovered that I needed to embrace the individuals we both were but to embrace the individual I was and not belittle myself but feel inside for my ideas, strengths and beauty that exists inside me like no one else. To be the person I know myself to be – the best version of myself. And above all, to be true to myself and if I could not put my heart into it, to take myself out of it as soon as possible. So in a relationship situation, here are a few rules to follow:

  1. Get your priorities straight.
  2. Take full responsibilities for your foals.
  3. Know your worth.
  4. Choose the right perspective.
  5. Don’t let your old problems punish your dreams.
  6. Choose the things that really matter.
  7. Love You.
  8. Accept your strengths and weaknesses.
  9. Stand up for you.
  10. Learn from others, and move on when you must.
  11. Be honest in your relationships.
  12. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
  13. Be who you were born to be.
  14. Never give up on you.

So I am sure that our society has discussed the subject of love over the centuries, let’s have a look:

1. French is such a beautiful love language.

2. There were times that I felt like I had been struck deaf and dumb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GB_S2qFh5lU&list=PLgIerhn1S8dM62vnOJJcAeGB-kMeRdwuv&index=1

3. Gibran Khalil Gibran was a Lebanese-American writer, poet and visual artist also considered a philosopher although he himself rejected the title. He is best known as the author of The Prophet which was first published in the United States in 1923 and has since become one of the best selling books of all time, having been translated into more than 100 languages.

4. Guilty as charged: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twi4sZrWhEE

5. From the most prolific quot-er, Ms. Unknown comes a piece of wisdom.

6. No need to be a: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfY4NLxl72g

7. Half way there.

8. It takes time to get to know someone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg3PberzvXo

9. Not just for one part of them, all the bits.

10. Can really relate to this statement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0qW9P-uYfM

11. It feels like an own goal.

12. One of the great gifts you can give to another person: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xN7NLKWol9I

13. Thich Nhat Hanh is a very wise person, I agree with this.

14. This is part of love to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaKgQATdB6I

15. Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde was an Irish poet and playwright. After writing in different forms throughout the 1880s, the early 1890s saw him become one of the most popular playwrights in London. Love this offering from him.

So in this inquiry I have come to the belief that love is a multi faceted part of our lives and that there is no one answer to the question and that is why we often struggle with it and we are always learning along the path.

The playlist today contains my favourite rock and roll guitar solo from the greatest music festival ever held, Woodstock all for the outrageous price of eight dollars for three days of peace Love and Understanding. We begin well before then with Billie Ellish followed by rockers Van Halen. Then one of the most soulful tracks ever recorded by Donny Hathaway. Australia’s own Tim Minchin is next. Elton and Kiki with a mighty duet next. Lana Del Ray is the penultimate track and yes we finish with guitar mayhem from Ten Years After: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJlQ3F9bKYrvARLdPeRm4DZbWsoAFyE3J

I use the word Love in my world ethos: Love and Respect for All, Everybody Included which is the basis of my 1,000,000 member Facebook group Thriving People – People who wish to make a difference to humankind. Here’s the link if you wish to join us in creating this change on the world conversation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1126100227764949. Until we meet again, my dear friends.
